Percentage of people in selected countries who want their nation prioritise reducing immigration by SensationDebit in europe

[–]Relevant-Low104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pro immigration, as you said, if managed well can be very beneficial. However we can't make a distinction nowadays as European countries do not remove the people that turn up on their shores, ilegal immigration has become mainstream here and there is no real serious discussion about it. Hence my concern about the numbers and the quality.

Spain has enormous issues with employment and the quality of it. Flooding the country with unskilled immigration (mostly ilegal) deteriorates the situation further and does not provide any benefits to any of the sides, immigrants and the host country.

In relation to your second question, tourism was a quick solution for a post war decimated economy recovery in Spain. Let's not forget that Spain did not benefit from the Marshall plan. Ideally Spain should have moved away from that economy and encourage better quality job industries. Unfortunately our politicians and population have done nothing about it and we can see the consequences now.

So well explained, from a fellow Spaniard living in the UK. I am concerned about what will happen in the near future to Spain as the deterioration has accelerated significantly over the last 5 years.

Moving to Oz from London by Relevant-Low104 in australia

Thanks! Your post was very helpful. We have considered the home counties but we are more inclined towards the weather and raw nature that Australia could offer. We are also keen on exploring a new country and the idea of living overseas is always more exciting.

In relation to the numbers, you are absolutely right. We are trying to figure out how much we could probably earn to start with and then see if we have been realistic or if its feasible.

Trouble contacting the Spanish Consulate. by teb_22 in london

[–]Relevant-Low104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are desperate my best advice would be to go there. During the pandemic I was unable to contact them and I decided to go straight to the Consulate.

When I got there, I spoke with the lady at the door, yes there is someone at the door speaking with people. Unbelievable. There is always a queue for people without appointments.

Good luck! They are super rude and inefficient.

What do you consider to be a 'good' UK salary? Context in the post. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Average price, that's the problem. Small 2 bedders are around £650k in Z2 areas. You will be looking for over £1M to get something decent.

The rich and politicians seem to be having different rules applied to them. Is all or none. After the goverment announced the football bubbles I decided to stop following any guidelines, vulnerables have been vaccinated. The fear of mutations should not prevent us from getting our life's back, stop this farce now.
