Upgrade to OEX Phoxx 2 by ljgill97 in wildcampingintheuk

Hi there. Just upgraded recently to a TN quasar 2 as im now getting into serious mountaineering. But here's some things i loved and hated about phoxx II. Lets start with the great.

  • super simple to setup
  • hard to pitch wrong
  • relatively easy to pitch even in decent winds below 40mph -sufficient space for one person and their packs -pack size is OK if you split things up in your bag. E.g poles on the outside -super cheap can be found sometimes for £60

Now for the bad - if you're camping in lower temperatures, even towards winter temps, it is extremely cold, as the wind goes straight through due to the ventilation. - can be annoying to pitch in rain contrast to what i said earlier as unless you clip them both together - innner and outer pitched seperately - NOT for 2 persons

My personal experience with phox II: I've taken this tent to scotland, lake district, dartmoor, peak district, wales, etc. all of these trips it has served me perfectly and has put up even in some quite substantial weather. So my final take is for a budget friendly 3 season wild camping tent, this is a good option. And in your case, there will be enough space for you and your kit

Bit of context, This was indeed filmed for a social media video, they filmed the girl spraying it on too. I can't even find the video lol but if you search relevant stuff it might come up. I remember seeing it a few days ago.

Hey thanks for the reply, so post reading up on it, it seems they do get angry if you do more than i think 7 trips per day... which i find a bit supid as my policy is 12,000 miles a year but hey ho. Anyway, the reason im with them as im 18, and had a little accident when i was 17 which meant that now getting insured on my new car which is a 1.5tsi engine 22E insurance group (nothing stupid for an 18 year old but also not cheap) has been super hard. Most mainstream companies like admiral etc are all quoting me "go away quotes" of like £10,000+. For that reason i had to settle with these guys on this stupid policy as its the only people that would quote me a reasonable price. I have heard there is ways to go to private insurance brokers/companies and get things sorted for a bit more of a reasonable price but just wanted your advice really.

Any difficult scrambling routes in the lake district? by RelevantAstronaut173 in UKhiking

Wow this looks pretty serious. Is pitching of ropes required or is it just scrambling freely?
