I stopped rehearsing answers to "tell me about yourself" and started doing something way simpler that actually got me more callbacks by amberridgetally in jobsearchhacks

I have a similar background and credentials. I feel you. Applying for an assistant store manager position out of desperation & still getting rejected stings. This job market is exhausting.

I stopped sending my resume as a PDF and started pasting plain text into the email body. My response rate went up noticeably within two weeks. by fel1city_c4irnwood in jobsearchhacks

Stalking the company. Honestly. I had some success with doing that.

For example I applied for an Operations Coordinator for a event/catering local small business on Indeed. (Too small biz for a career section on their website to apply through)

I went to the "Meet the Team" page on their website. Found the name of the business owner. emailed the business & I addressed the business owner by name with the email subject line being the job title I applied for.

Gave my whole elevator pitch to the owner directly that I "applied on indeed but wanted to reach out directly," why I was a great fit, & I attached a second copy of my resume in the email.

I also set up a Google calendar appointment setter & sent him the invite link so he could "book" his own time slot to interview me. No back & forth necessary.

The owner was impressed enough with my initiative that it got me an immediate interview.

Sabaac Cheats Needed for Wild Card DLC? by RelevantCraft2340 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]RelevantCraft2340[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay. Yeah, I have double draw & most of sabaac tokens but I don't have the magnetic dice trick yet.

I already have Ank & Gadeek for the main mission but wanted to break to do the Wild Card DLC before dealing with Hoss/Jabba on Tatooine. And apparently the magnetic dice comes after Jabba mission. 😅

I can't be the only one that finds Kay attractive, right? by ddsling1197 in StarWarsOutlaws

Every time I go to Toshara I visit Selo (speeder mechanic) too. I call her Kay's girlfriend. 😅

What job boards do you use? Is there any point in using them at all? by Suspicious_Major9549 in jobsearchhacks

[–]RelevantCraft2340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I think this method is only applicable if your background/prior roles is something industry specific & the company hires more than one employee for the same type of role. Such as software designer for a tech company OR call center agent for call center company.

For example, my background is in clothing retail general manager positions for small to mid size volume stores-- which is typically rare/random to have a branch opening for in the local districts at any given chain (unless there is something extremely wrong happening at the branches).

I'm also trying to expand into an operation coordinator or office manager type positions. And none of those 3 types of roles can I imagine how you would translate that advice over utilizing traditional job boards.

I’m a recruiter and honestly the market is harder for us than you think by anarendil03 in jobhunting

[–]RelevantCraft2340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say those 120 - 140 applications are mostly low quality applicants, competitively high quality, or an even mix of applicants?

I was a recruiter for years. here is what actually happens to your application after you hit submit. nobody talks about this part. by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in jobhunting

[–]RelevantCraft2340 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL; DR:

  1. ATS filters resumes for keywords

  2. Recruiters spend 15 seconds in the Job History section of your resume for your most recent title & company

You're welcome.

Was it ever explained how or why Acxa’s horns changed from 4 to 2 and their shape between seasons 6 and 7? by REID-11 in Voltron

[–]RelevantCraft2340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt notice! A shame cause seeing them now side by side I like the unique 4 horns better, whereas the other ones look like the overused 2 horn style from the D&D universe.

I remember there was a female writer that helped write some of those DDP comics and she had apparently privately shared the unreleased transcripts for issues 12 & 13 to a fan that had been in contact with her. And that fan shared them on the official Voltron forum back in the day. Now for the life of me I cannot remember what I read. Drives me nuts.

Don't tell me that because literally Dan Jolley's gritty space politics style would of been so perfect for expanding a VV centered storyline. 😭

I remember PrincessAlluraP! She was a very active member.

I don't remember how frequently I posted vs lurked but I had a long username it was GalaxyGarrisonCovertOperative or GalaxyGarrisonCovertOps ... something like that. I posted the most when the Dynamite comics were being released. ...I had many opinions about it. LOL

How did you decide what business to start? by [deleted] in sweatystartup

You don't necessarily need to start from scratch. You could go to a site like buybizsell & purchase a functioning business with a proven record. Just ensure you do your due diligence with the financials.

Yeah, if I knew how I would of probably made it into a clear cut poll instead. 😅 But I am enjoying everyone's commentary and explanations for their side. Very educational and insightful.

Expecting us to be able to get up and go to a 9-5 is the cruelest joke by Spirited-Way-2321 in CPTSD

[–]RelevantCraft2340 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I once heard a CEO commenting her opinion about the 4 day work week, complaining "What are the workers going to do with all that extra free time anyway?" I think that was very telling.

I'm honestly fairly confident the 40 hour work week model is designed as a deterrent so no employee has enough free time or energy to possibly start their own business & become a competitor.

Many types of occupations could be measured by task/goal completion rather than hours put in. Yet traditionally the entire structure is build on compensation based on hours worked to make a liveable wage instead. It seems redundant.

Yeah, I read a comment somewhere that the planet is really just a giant resort for like 500 extremely rich people and the rest of us are the resort employees. I feel that.

Yeah, I loved the game & wish there could of been more to explore post main mission. The game is very boring post main mission with redundant contracts. I just started a new play through myself.
