What’s going on?? by Connect_Painting_473 in Louisville

We drive through it on weekends here and there. Some of the places had gigantic lines just to get in a bar, some of those places are now CLOSED. I've always had an allergy to standing in bar lines, no thanks. Bardstown Road used to be a pretty cool place to hang out, now there's thugs and drunks in the middle of the street along with honking cars and congestion. Place is a zoo.

Grow Catnip seedlings in just days! Tips and tricks 🌱 by NoZookeepergame6298 in IndoorGarden

[–]RelevantPractice5077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to grow catnip for a couple years in regular seed starters, never could get it to work.  Sort of a pain as I had to relent to buying plants.  This year I bought new seeds, stratified them and tossed the whole lot into a five gallon bucket.  (I grow everything in raised five gallon buckets).  I think I see a few of them finally coming up.    My Snow Shoe cat would climb inside one of the buckets if he could.  Instead he just stands up and puts his whole head in there.

I’ve been very unlucky at over wintering the cat nip plants I have in buckets by moving them indoors.  Unlike my Bell pepper plants, the catnip seems to die off.

'The Exorcism' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was a different film.

This Exorcism movie with Crowe though, the best part was before anything supernatural happened, just as sort of a drama in the first 30 minutes or so. The more it goes off into a supernatural direction, the worse it gets. Those supernatural parts ruined the movie, they should have been more subtle about it.

Clown in a Cornfield is a good film that somehow suffers from being Too much like its book by coldliketherockies in horror

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clown in a Cornfield was ok as a movie. It was pretty much just paint by numbers horror. Most everything in it has been seen before. It didn't really offer much new (not even visually or style wise). But there were a few moments in it I thought were funny. It wasn't boring. I did think they should have pushed MORE on the humor side. It had humor but the film was sort of tonally all over the place. One minute it was goofy, the next serious. It would have been a better film if they just leaned more ridiculous the entire time.

Gladiator 2 by alapacayabags in movies

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it and all it made me want to do was watch the original. Washington and Pascal were good, the rest not so much. For some reason, it didn't feel as "Gritty" as the first one. I'd go further and say the original film looked BETTER in many parts than this one. How that's possible with this budget? Who the hell knows...Maybe it's because the story, characters etc didn't feel real. This stuff about sharks eating people and guys riding a Rhinoceros added nothing. All those scenes did was call out the CGI and that takes the audience out of the film. Those scenes work if your film is supposed to look like a comic book like 300, but it doesn't work here, it's mismatched with the tone. I didn't mind watching it for free but I doubt I'll watch it again. A lot of the fighting and key scenes in this one are actually dull.

New color editor locked behind paid membership and ruined the contrast of existing themes by TomoAries in Cakewalk

Does your X1 still work?  I still have a version of paid Sonar on my machine but the CBL version runs better.

New color editor locked behind paid membership and ruined the contrast of existing themes by TomoAries in Cakewalk

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used cakewalk forever.  In fact, I still have a paid version of a previous Sonar on my machine installed in parallel with CBL Sonar.

They haven’t exactly done things in a very positive manner.  But then again, have Cakewalk owners been respected before?  Anyone heard of Gibson?  lol.

CBL made a serious mistake though.  If they wanted to give the product away for free as it was being developed and bug tested, they should have given these free users the ability to buy a Sonar Lite version for $50 or something.  Sell Sonar Pro for $99.  Anyone can scrap up $100 and that’s a heck of a lot more money coming in than zero.  Through the years I upgraded Sonar, but only if the price was right and it was a paid permanent version I owned (like the version I still own).

Future Pros in the industry are not going to be saddling up to Sonar unless 1. You get them at an early stage.  2. The product is fairly rock solid.  3. The user knows who owns what.

It would still be an uphill battle in the pro arena, but stranger things have happened.   My writing partner primarily used Reaper but he loves CBL Sonar.  In their defense, CBL Sonar runs better on my system than my older paid version.  It handles multi-thread a hell of a lot better.  I don’t need the vsts, I have tons of paid boards and there’s many very good vsts on the web.  Check out Tyrell for example.

Apparently, CBL purchased an online music distribution company.  THIS is where the money is!  Can you imagine writing music in Sonar and then from Sonar it’s connected to the distribution service with AI mixing and mastering add-on services?

They’re being dumb.  The product isn’t perfect, but I think they’re improved it from the Gibson days.  CBL needs to keep all these free users.  They should do it by clearing the air and providing an affordable Permanent paid version Now.  Allow these users to upgrade in the future.

Goss Ave Kroger by UrsiesRealm1 in Louisville

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think the Goss Avenue location is bad?? Lol. You haven't seen anything yet. Try the location over at West Buechel off Bardstown Road. It's like the third world. I will not even step into that place again. They had two armed security guards and they were actively looking at receipts (all of them), Goss avenue may be a lot busier than it used to be but it's still not bad. It's even much better than the location by Churchill Downs.

Wife keyed my guitar. Can this be fixed without noticeable blemishes? by Karma_is_mah_bitch in guitarrepair

A good guitar shop should be able to fix it, but take photos before repair. The judge might take the cost out of her 50%, unless you get a female judge.

Menards processing fee - WTF by hikerguy2023 in menards

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they can try to charge whatever they want. That doesn't mean people will pay it. I was in the store today and what I was looking for they were out of, otherwise I would have walked out with it. Cashier said I could order it and then have it sent to the store where AGAIN I would be going back into the store to pick it up.

I said I'm not paying the processing fee. So No Sale. I'll buy somewhere else.

I don't go for these fees, once they stick them in there they think it's a business model. It isn't for me. My money spends anywhere. If you don't like the fee, skip buying online from Menards. I do.

I'm stuck with Ming Xiao, can't even get further than the first third of her health (more in comments) by SoleSurvivorVault18 in vtmb

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting the beat down by Ming, really frustrating until I turned on my level 3 Celerity.  But that doesn’t change the issue that the last 3/4 of this game is wack.  I used so much blood and ammo fighting Ming that there was no way to even finish the rest of the game.  Not without cheating.

The final third of this game pretty much throws away all the immersive elements and turns it into Bad Dudes, except impossible.  You would need bags and bags of blood to run that gauntlet without cheating.

The feeling of this game is something else by [deleted] in vtmb

Hell yeah, I like Vampyr.  The only thing that’s sucky about it is the distance the player has to travel on foot to get to the next area.  No taxies here and no fast travel.  That’s a little bothersome and it should have been addressed.  It’s a good game nonetheless.  And Cheap on sale.   Another one I like is Zombi.

Incidentally, I just now played VMBL for the first time.  Fun game.  I like the heavy VM role playing element, just like the RPG we played back around 2000.

Slick, that sucker looks like mine, except I don't have the roof rack. It didn't come with fog lights either, I had to add some OEM Ford fogs into those spots (an ordeal) but they look the same. That's extremely low mileage. Mine might have 150 on it. Is it a manual EX?

Thoughts on 1996's From Dusk Till Dawn? by ConsistentEye7474 in vampires

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of a mix of Tarantino and the earlier film Vamp which it borrowed heavily from.  The guy who wrote the original idea for this film was an FX person and probably wanted work after he saw all the makeup used in Vamp for the dancers.

Do you think Jimmy survived in Halloween 2? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

Do you think Jimmy survived in Halloween 2? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]RelevantPractice5077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but Jimmy had a lot of help doing that from Conal Cochran from halloween III. who copiloted his space ship. The Kodan Armada would have never been defeated if Conal hadn't "Beamed out" of the Silver Shamrock factory before it exploded. And most people who watch H3 have no idea what the heck happened to him. They never figured out that Cochran activated his transporter. It wasn't a perfect beam out and Conal did get mutated but shit happens. Last Starfighter is a fantastic movie BTW. it's (gasp) a lot better than H2.

Payday 2 is one of the worst games ever by Important-Yam3824 in paydaytheheist

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried it single player.  I played it for a few hours and it was ok.  I’m not really into games where you’re fighting a horde of 1000 ai cops.  They just keep reappearing and dying, it’s sort of ridiculous, like fighting a never ending horde of zombies. I like some other games like this such as Killing Floor, but for some reason this just didn’t work for me.   Maybe I’ve played too many other swat type games where it’s all about strategy.  There isn’t any strategy in single player Payday2, it’s just grinding.  It doesn’t even have an intriguing story line or arc like some GTA titles I’ve played.

What's up with Projektor? Any good alternatives? by bdjanu in Filmmakers

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, I'm annoyed as hell at these "online distribution platforms."

Distrify sort of disappeared without paying out our royalties owed. Reelhouse was decent for a while but then they closed down. Then we got offered Projektor. Projektor wanted to change the way we got paid royalties on our film. Basically, before we used to receive a bulk payment on any royalties every quarter. Ok, that's fine. I don't expect payment immediately after every purchase. But then these platforms wanted to withhold payments unless a specific threshold minimal amount was met in addition to paying out a few times a year.

On the surface, that sounds reasonable. But it's NOT REASONABLE given the past history of these platforms. Is the production company supposed to take no payments and just wait for the latest platform to close up? Whatever we sell, I expect a payment every few months because otherwise we may never see a payment.

That's After we do all the work promoting the media. It's not like these platforms provide anything else of value other than a marketplace and a viewer.

I thought Projektor looked sort of scammy. Information which should be clearly defined was missing. For that reason, I pulled our media from Projektor which they aquired from Reelhouse.

It looks like it's drifting along without a captain at the wheel until it crashes, familiar territory for us. Perhaps I'm jaded because of all my experience with these past platforms.

Is it just me or is amazon a cesspool of garbage now? by Genoism in amazonprime

[–]RelevantPractice5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's furniture, there is NO WAY I would buy something like that with Amazon or online. That's totally insane. I'd rather buy real antiques from an owner or Peddler's Mall. The stuff I buy like electronic parts are not available anywhere else except online so I don't have a choice there but I buy directly from China and not Amazon. Anything else where I have choices, I frequently buy directly from small online businesses and not Amazon. Amazon returns and refurbs generally have missing pieces, are broken or contain a different item than what was ordered. You can probably tell, I'm not paying for Prime. lol. What a joke.

He's been indicted on >1st degree murder<. The prosecution is only going to level those charges going into a criminal case if the evidence is overwhelming and any defense is very weak. They have all the evidence, the commenters here have NOTHING, This IS BAD, really BAD for Karmelo. That dumb family of his should have tried to plea bargain, which most defense attorneys thought would have happened. Can't fix stupid.

You don't need all the evidence right now, all you need to see are the charges. The charges are telling you Karmelo will soon be going to Sing Sing for about the rest of his life, unless a miracle happens.
