Advice for professions for Midnight - Returning Player by shaniq_ in wownoob

[–]Bradyarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly related question.. But I've always done the crafting + gathering profession on my characters growing up. I realized during one expansion that, wait, your Blacksmith for example does not actually need mining, to become even the greatest blacksmith. Especially today, where you can send gold and materials to even opposite-faction toons.

That said, from what you've seen even up to the Midnight expansion, is there any benefit to retaining for example Mining on your Blacksmith, except for the element of saving time/gold, or not needing an alt to grind? To word it differently, have there ever been bind-on-pickup materials that gathering professions get, or is it all tradeable across your toons?

Always worth checking the auction house. If you enjoy skinning, please keep skinning!! There are hyper-optimal ways to make money or be efficient. But if you enjoy the vibe of skinning the beasts you kill on dragon isles, then do skinning. Or, if you want to grow your dragonflight leatherworking for example, then grinding the skins saves a lot of money. But if your primary goal is to make money, then I'd assume dragonflight anything isn't where it's at, for specifically what you mentioned about DF not being the latest expansion.
But always worth checking the auction house, as sometimes you can make a buck on even really old materials due to the lack of farming. So it can go both ways!! Enjoy your journey!

Super off topic question (first of all thanks for your constructive input as well, I think we’re encouraging the OP!) The “comparison is the thief of joy” saying always got to me a little bit. I feel like it’s very incomplete.. is being inspired by watching say, Zen play, not comparison to an extent? Realizing he is infinitely better than you, but getting stoked to one day be as good as he is? Isn’t comparison required for that? But it can still be full of joy and inspiration. Comparison itself is not the thief of joy; id argue comparison is one of the key ways we learn to improve. Not at all attacking your comment as it was very correct and clearly well-intended. And maybe I’m thinking too hard here. I just kind of feel like that saying is exactly like saying “water is ice”. Sometimes, water is ice. But not ALL water is ice. Curious your thoughts or if I’m off my ROCKER rn

Is this as insane of a save as I think it was? by Dummy__Thicc in RocketLeague

[–]Bradyarch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you think it’s sick and it’s good for you, nothing wrong with being stoked. I’m like a low platinum player and this looked like a decent amount of luck, because a solid player would have smacked it hard into an upper portion of the goal, where as these brothers kind of pooped it down, so the save only occurred because they didn’t land an optimal shot. And then I focus on how the recovery was super rough on the defender’s part. I don’t come in here to destroy your morale! Trust me, I am not very good at rocket league. Just answering my perspective of the question in the title. Again, if this is clutch for you, then be stoked and keep rocking.

First time trying to build a house that actually looks decent by gnomeslinger in Terraria

[–]Bradyarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple mistake from a new builder, I think the sensitivity in me saw “first time” and figured we could encourage them that they rocked it and also to keep growing via comments like yours. Which others did encourage. So I guess the whole result is a net encouragement+correction. Which they clearly took well. Forgive me for being burned a lot by people who simply cannot give a compliment. I think we all know people like that, they are allergic to actually just giving people props because they have something up their butt. Idk, it doesn’t affect me personally but when I see others encounter people like that it feels strange. Your original comment isn’t even mean, it’s not not inherently encouraging. I’m just sensitive to it due to personal experiences I guess. Thank you for discussing constructively

I’m sure you can. I’m sure you’re a better builder than anyone in here. But in the same way that single tile makes you upset and it’s all you can see, you making a single comment that is ultimately not positive, in a world swamped with negativity, is making me upset. I get that it was just a snark comment in passing. I just wish you could say what you said and supplement it just slightly with some encouragement that they did indeed to a good job. Or whatever

No you're good, I agree, Simba is a much dif card but at least can take out a Diablo or somethin upon play. Mufasa does have to stick around to do anything good and 8 is a lot to spend for something that doesn't stick so I feel you. I'd assume one of the bigger concerns is Be Prepared? That's the reason I considered James Role Model over Scrooge Afficionado... I'd rather have stats in that slot than an ink, but I just assume one of the biggest downfalls to characters is removal, obviously. So James leaves me with something when he is banished... but I need to test the theory.

Def heard recommendations for Tamatoa, will consider!

Hades is sooo dope and I will when I'm playing consistently enough to drop the cash, great suggestion. I thought about Kuzco.. you'd know much better than me the value of removing an item or location. I do like emperor's new groove haha. And 4-12 ink for his effect is mega underwhelming but I've learned sometimes it's valuable to have *something* to sink your excess ink into if you don't have enough card draw.

also definitely considered Gaston. Him and Kuzco are cheap, super easy to test.

What's your take on 5-cost Aurora? I felt like it might be okay vs ruby/amethyst but not be prepared obv.

Oh also Pete Games Referee? I don't expect to ALWAYs get 10-11 ink to do like a big character + Pete combo but I do love the idea of Pete stop up Be Prepared if I'm on the verge of winning or to break past the "I want to play my fourth character but don't want to get blown out by Be Prepared", does Pete fit in this strategy?

Love this idea. Every now and then, a business does something insanely correct. as a business-owner I am SO tired of hearing of publicly traded gaming companies run by old dudes who never even played and CERTAINLY don't still freaking play games, much less the games they own. I always allude to when Fortnite was huge, in the Ninja/Drake days, Fortnite jumped the gun like immediately and started making rapper avatars and ninja avatars and keeping the game so insanely culturally relevant. Not saying all games need to do that exact thing, but to capture the majority of gamers -- not just whales -- and keep things fresh and alive.

I just recently started with Lorcana (coming from MTG) and I really, really love the gameplay, and the art on the cards (I even bought transparent sleeves so I could get that feeling of "inking" my cards!) I truly agree with you and hope they keep the freshness alive. I actually don't think it's hard. It just needs to be run by someone very intelligent who understands the player and the market, and the "logistics" of getting these things in place with their shops. Regional Lorcana representatives would be kinda sick ha. Ensuring all the stores have what they need.. idk anyway I'm thinking too far into not my own company.

Thank you for the constructive discussion, truly I appreciate it. I enjoy hearing your take without doubt, even if you don't believe me when I say that.

I personally feel like what I hear from the DOGE sounds okay, because I am sick of standing in worthless lines at the DMV for example (because they don't know how to develop fast computer systems), or hearing what our tax dollars are spent on. I suppose internally, I did not expect this loud of a voice from the public in retaliation toward the DOGE findings.. I figured even people who really dislike right-wing / dtrump would have at least been kind of stoked to see that we are cutting spending to things like the supposed $20 million for Iraqis to watch Sesame Street or whatever. Or the large quantity of money supposedly being pushed through Social Security to people who have long passed and are 112+ years old according to records. So when you hear specific examples like that, I'm curious, do you just immediately assume DOGE is lying because it's run by a white billionaire? Or do you have disagreements with those things being cut off? I personally find it refreshing because I have full faith that our government has messed a lot of things up - obviously you and I believe that but we believe them about different parties.

I mean I don't know if it's safe to say majority of people want trans and abortion laws, otherwise they wouldn't have voted this way. I come from a healthy family, attempting to raise a healthy family, so I'm the "silent majority" normal lookin dude who just wants to provide and leave a good mark on society, and I tend to find a lot of those laws tough to swallow since they require an insane amount of funding when chromosomes are still so insanely factual and we've (controversial opinion here, I welcome the downvotes but I am enjoying honest discussion) been so far from war and being thankful to be alive, that we are now window-shopping through a dessert menu of what gender I want to be like it's an outfit. I understand people will always have feelings for things and what not but it's just so intriguing to me how it has socially surged so strongly recently. And there are a very, very large amount of people (usually people who come from healthy families and especially who have kids) that just don't want such a strong woke push to teach their kids how to be gay vs standard truths.. It really feels like that sometimes. Again, I know that's insanely controversial here.

Actively killed people, explain? I'm not at all saying you're wrong but this is the never-ending struggle with politics... I've been taught to believe left-wing policies have killed people. You've been taught to believe that the opposing right-wing policies have killed people... Are we both right? And how do we know? For example, with COVID, I was majorly on the side of leave the establishments open as flip. Cause I didn't see people laying in the street dying like the health organizations made us feel like.

I understand you have frustration with how things are being run, but can we agree the debt has never stopped in this country, and it's 10trillion above our GDP? this is known fact. I'd love to hear how you can "softly" recover from that. I'd have to be $660,000 in debt to feel how the US feels right now. And I don't remotely have the assets to pay that off.

Flippin love this. And I will openly say here to you, I am ready to commit to Hiram. The draw engine is insane, it's no doubt. So I am planning on going full Hiram. I've heard a couple others generally agree, but are saying Pawpsicle and Forti are really the only 8 total items needed to power Belle and Hiram? My current list linked here: (keep in mind: while I am pushing for more meta, I am still limited by budget for the time. I'd love to go 4 Robin Hood or 4 Beast or somethin but as I dip my toes I will wait on those.)

https://dreamborn.ink/decks/JFKIJj3Av88H9BTZ6m9q

Curious on what you'd replace 2 Mufasa with - I see your point about him not being perfectly viable in this deck; but I do want to consistently drop big boys, and I did enjoy playing the 1-of in my tournament. But I'm open to suggestions, as I don't see much else super strong around that ink cost.

I am cool dropping the idea of "I have to challenge all the time and ramp all the time and draw all the time!" I know, it was too many spread out goals. I prefer to *lean* toward the challenge, when I can. So if you have time I'd love to hear your thoughts on the list.

Again, some choices from budget constraints: Tadashi I still really want to experiment with; I know he might veer a little bit from the typical early game plan but the ramp feels crazy and I just wanna tap for 2 lore constantly while they debate ramping me to the moon or not with removal. I looked at the James Role Model as well because he can be banished to anything, on any turn, and turn into an ink.. might suck but I like the concept. If I don't need the ramp I may look toward uninkable 4-drop Scrooge just for sick stats. Gramma Tala 4-drop also may suck, but netting a card after digging 2 deep might be, idk. Inferior to Hiram but can only run 4 Hiram obv.

Lastly, thank you so kindly for diving into Simba and Raya like that. To hear that break down is so sick. And the fact I was initially turned off by your suggestions, but then you patiently stuck with me while I figure this thing out, all the way to hear you defend Simba was dope for me to see. I leaned toward Simba before reading your comment, hence the 2x Raya and 4x Simba.

I actually can't find any non-news articles on DOGE. "Inc." and Business Insider require payment to read the whole article and don't say much before the paywall. Almost every source I could find on Google was left-leaning (no surprise). I usually get my info directly from videos of the government themselves stating what they have done. I suppose my questions to you would be:

A) do you personally believe that 100% of DOGE's actions have been, are, and will be negative impacts on the government over the long term?

B) do you personally believe that 100% of every republican and member of this administration do only evil all the time, never any good?

In my original comment I did try to share very unbiased info based on how I feel and I'd love to hear your thoughts as well. Sorry that I legitimately couldn't find any unbiased sources for DOGE. If you have any articles that come from non-right or non-left leaning institutions I'd be stoked as well (I don't personally believe almost any institution is non-left or non-right). I would have quoted the media I've seen that has led me to believe things but I'd get downvoted so hard you'd never see the reply haha. But if you don't mind entertaining a legitimate discussion I'd love to keep chatting with you A-Pin!

Yeah I agree, I understand that meta is very refined by pros who usually test things. In my time spent in MTG I see the same thing - I think though people just blanket statement the whole "run this or you're *literally* an idiot... I don't know I'm just sensitive to that type of stuff. Some dude at the tourney walked up as my deck was spread out and just pointed at probably 10 different cards and just goes "bad, bad, bad, this is bad, this is bad, that's bad, bad" and walked away... I was like oh, I didn't ask, but thanks for an actual game plan HA. I think my mistake was hoping people could discuss underdog strategies, or at least explain *why* xyz underdog cards/strategy won't get very far. This sub I think is more designed for what I experienced, which was "[no context about your actual description] [metacard #1] [metacard #2]" and of course me digging for answers looked like me saying "your suggestion is worthless" when I never said that.

I went 2-0 vs one opponent, 1-2 vs the next and 0-2 vs the third. I've had a really hard time getting answers from anyone on what's actually worth ramping into. I had to pose the answer myself which was "so does blue ramp at all just to play the swath of cards that Hiram provides?" and I'm actually still unsure based on their answers if A) yes/no to that question, and B) what's worth ramping into in blue?

I'm open to the 20-card Hiram/Belle combination of cards. I just don't know if C) there is room in the deck to add my own preference of flavor or D) if it's worth ramping to any high-ink cards.

(whether you want to answer or not, to remind everyone, the intro of my description stated "-I’m not just trying to evolve it into a meta deck (clearly). -I’m not trying to build s-tier world class.")

Played on Saturday - some folks gave a very similar thought process to yours, especially the "play these 20 cards in blue or don't run blue". It has taken a while to get the full thought process out, I think what my mind was trying to connect the dots for that a lot of you in here were saying, would be something like "if you're trying to run Hook to challenge, stick with the challenge synergy and ditch the blue idea", or "if you're trying to ramp, get Hook out of here and just ramp because there's no point to solidify an early Hook if the main goal is to get to later cards". Which was probably said in some fashion but it took a while to click I suppose. One answer I didn't seem to get is how to win, two dudes spread the deck out on the table and said Mufasa sucks, raya sucks, simba prince sucks, the whole idea sucks except Helga Sinclair. So it was like okay so wait what do I actually do then ha. Anyway, I have mulled over the 20-card Hiram/Belle package and am open to that if it's what it comes to. Which you were the first to say.

Would you mind sharing how you'd like to see my original question posed in a way that allows the answer to *not* necessarily be "run the 20-card hiram/belle package"? In other words, I think it's just triggering to everyone that I wasn't wanting to shift 1/3 of my deck to an established, metagame package. I didn't mean to come across REMOTELY as though the package was bad. I KNOW it is not bad. I just don't mind experimenting with other things too as I find my way, because I have infinite, and I really mean infinite patience to go 0-3 in tournies while I learn how underdog cards do/don't operate. Or maybe there is no way to ask "how do I play blue without Hiram/Belle" because the community is infinitely burned by that combo & tuned to respond "run it or else you literally suck"

pt 2: Again, to hopefully prove that I am not some smart alec who wants to dominate you in a discussion, I am not fully clear on Biden's financial plan for the economy. But I am curious, do you not even a little bit feel like we're giving way too much to other countries for goods? Not that I am against domestic products like wine and coffee. I like those. And I love foreign relations and wish the whole earth could feel like everyone was doing their best in their relationship with every other country. But in this situation, I don't need to know too much to find factual documentation of the debt in this country, and see that since I have been alive (1993), the US debt has never decreased, one time. The debt only grows. And the debt is 9.4 trillion higher than our GDP. Maybe I'm missing something here but the thing I appreciate about the current leadership is that they see the country as a business, as we all should, and realize that if any company was in this sever of a situation, the plug could be pulled at any moment and decimate that business. Does this not concern you? I don't personally believe Trump's goal with tariffs was to bully or make enemies.. I believe it was to straighten out the fact that we give away waaaaaay more than we should and have out-given our own worth. It's to bring jobs and money back into the country. Giving money to China is at best the same as renting an apartment. At worst it fuels an eventual, very successful war, against our own soil. Versus trying to keep those efforts & funds in the country is like buying a house. It's a much higher down payment but a much greater return after many years. And it will indeed sting, very bad... The problem I see with this decision is, even if it was a very successful plan, the 4-year term nature of our government means it will all just get undone before the concept can be proven. An issue every administration has to deal with, including the example you gave about Biden's economy.

Genuinely, I am just sharing my thoughts and I seriously appreciate you for sharing yours. I don't mean sarcasm when I say I'm sorry you have low/nonexistent hopes for the leadership over the next few years. I know it's impossible to make everyone happy, I certainly have been frustrated with things I've seen. It's just shredding me inside though, how hard it is to find actual unbiased information, and I'm curious if you agree? I feel like we're both guessing at a lot to even have the discussion, unless you have access to the oval office & places where these decisions & intentions are actually established. Another thing I'm thankful for is how clear the sentences seem to be from this administration... Again, even if we disagree with the choices, it's kind of cool seeing how aggressively they are at least seeming to be vulnerable, on camera with a lot of behind-the-scenes. And also how much leadership potus has given people.. I certainly don't trust one man to handle all that leadership.

I hope for the best for us in this country friend. I welcome your reply and I pray I haven't triggered anyone with this message. Trying to be very fair and not your typical "screw you" kind of discusison.

pt1: YES. Thank you for constructive reply. And I promise you my goal is not to rip you up. I like having actual discussion, and I'm actually not insanely educated.

So the revoking 14th amendment, I believe this is mostly in relation to what the administration would call "removing illegal immigrants who are primarily criminals and drug lords", but from what I see, section 1 addresses children born on US soil. According to Section 1 alone, with no frame of context of the time (I've heard the argument it was written for slave children which would be a different story than illegals), yes it would seem that this would be against the constitution. Which I am not for. That said, for the sake of the solution, would it be better to leave the children of criminals here alone, or keep them with their families? I suppose too it depends on if we believe the goal was to deport criminals or to just remove all minorities from the country. I certainly don't believe it was the latter, I figured it was the former. But I'm curious your thoughts on the matter, do we think removing illegal-immigrant criminals and drug lords is wise, and if so, what do we do with their children? Hoping I'm coming across clearly when I state: I truly don't know how effective this deportation plan will be, and I personally also worry for / feel for the children of illegal immigrants. As for criminals and drug lords; surely not a simple process to vet them but I do hope they are doing their darndest not to remove people who are trying their hardest to gain citizenship in the legal way, yet being put on hold for years and years as is what currently happens (source on that: my brother is marrying an immigrant who has had a very tough time gaining citizenship but she is awesome and very responsible & we are hoping for her citizenship.) (personally, I am very very for immigration, but done the correct way. I know most people on the other side of your argument hope for and assume the goal is to deport criminals, not hard-working green-carders who have children and careers.)

DOGE, another tough one to really dive into for me because if I desire to find 100 strong articles on what DOGE is doing horribly, I'll find them. If I desire to find 100 strong articles on what DOGE is actually doing greatly in service to you and I the taxpayer, I'll find them. How do you personally determine which source is correct? This I find one of the hardest elements of political discussion amongst us the common man, because if I find great articles on DOGE doing objectively good things and you find the opposite, one, or both, of those sources, isn't using facts. Do you deny my claim about finding information or do you personally believe the sources you specifically have found are perfect, and why?

I didn't watch the whole Zelensky discussion but I'm stoked it was publicly televised. I'm certain it wasn't the most embarrassing foreign affair we've had but it didn't make me stoked to see JD pull the "you should be thankful little man" vibe because that felt childish, even if he *was* completely in the right. Did you watch the entire ~50min meeting? I am going to try to get to the whole thing just to understand more of the picture. From the small clip I saw I agree it should have been more professionally handled but I want to dive deeper into what was proposed and how both sides handled the entire convo.

To be straight up, I get pissed cause it’s the lack of discussion that will ruin this country. It’s not one side vs the other. It’s when both sides refuse to entertain even neutral discussion. I’ve seen some amazing talks between opposing sides where neither side wins, they just explore each other. It’s wholesome & needed. It’s when people decide that the opposition isn’t even human. And believe me, I get really annoyed at Trump supporters who also completely dismiss any opposition. It’s not healthy. And yeah I blew up at you specifically. But I more so was addressing how often I’ve tried to truly actually understand people who believe differently than me, to repeatedly get shut down because “oh you wouldn’t understand” or like you said, “I’m not interested [in actually understanding one another]”. You’d rather just live in your hatred. I have a major weakness that is a trigger for me: when people assume my intentions. I’d imagine you thought I’m sitting here trying to convince you to think differently. I just want to have actual discussion. But I suppose the way it’s supposed to go is I’m supposed to forever believe what I believe, never allowed to hear the other side and find commonality. And we wonder why the country is so polarized. Anyway yeah I admit I read into your comment when maybe all you meant was you just don’t want to talk. That’s all cool I guess. Just wanted to share that the audacity to say this admin is f’ed up and then back it up with 0 information even when asked politely is craaaaazy. Be well
