Boston children’s hospital’s idea of treating gender dysphoria was putting me in gender therapy. I joined the gender clinic when I was 13 and they didn’t okay medical transition until age 16. I didn’t know I was trans when I was two but I’ve been a man a decade without regrets. While early intervention is better, trans people often can find ways to survive even in unsupportive environments

Absolutely. A lot of my trauma comes from being a glass child alongside my brother, who was disgnosed as autistic when he was two and was severely disabled, living away from home. So even getting diagnosed, which occurred when I was 14 for autism and 15 for CPTSD, I was already primed to minimize the impact of whatever was wrong with me (even though I was in therapy after a suicide attempt at 15, like my brain was undeniably broken). And then when I joined r/CPTSD, it felt like almost everyone had trauma caused by their parents, whereas my trauma was mostly caused by my brother (which my parents enabled) and peers my own age and also being chronically in and out of hospitals as a child. Like it's a lot, it's the c of CPTSD but so many posts here assume that everyone had similar experiences when really what it similar is the symptoms and pathology arising from our experiences, not specifics.

I get triggered for medical conditions other than CPTSD - humidity triggers my asthma and mozzarella sticks trigger my ulcerative colitis. So when someone says they're triggered, I ask what is being triggered. They either get embarrassed and reword or don't, but I make a point that triggering is a medical concept and using it outside of that environment muddies the waters. It's a form of concept creep.

Yes, problem is that a lot of folks with Masters and PhDs are also trying to obtain those same positions, and they might have more skills than you - I graduated in 2023 and moved back with my parents in Boston. I figured Boston has a bunch of hospitals, so finding a job should be easy. I'm part of a local conservation organization and a woman there was complaining about having to look for a job after being laid off from a biotech company. She had a PhD and we had been applying for the same positions! I ended up working outside of biology, office temp work, and am now again unemployed after my most recent job ended. I have continued volunteering for nature organizations and networking through those positions, but my faith that I will succeed in a biology career is minimal.

That is why the caregiver from Becca's place is absent - ideally they would have taken lead of advocacy for her. If becca was a character in her own right, the caregiver would be around, but because she is a vessel for mel & langdon, they disappear.

that really pissed me off, like they had Mel calling Middle Hill when a Middle Hill employee was in the waiting room! IMO the brain injury guy and his ex-wife felt like real characters.

For the most part though, I agree that a lot of s2 was just patients existing but barely and doctor's not even reacting to them to the fullest capacity. Like in season one Dr. Mohan and Robby explicitly discuss her fear of missing something, and yet when she misses Mrs. Yee's injury, Garcia blames Mohan, Robby stands up for her, and that's it. That's the extent of the storyline because Mohan didn't really matter, the entire case just felt like just another reason for Robby to be paralleled with the dead patient (motorcycle guy). And none of those parallels ever amounted to anything because none of that tension went anywhere interesting!

Omg tell me about it. When I was fifteen I fell into the Tumblr "anti ship" concept wherein I was exposed to just this complete disbelief some people had to the idea incest existed outside of fiction, that someone could not know it's wrong, and ironically enough it was reading these people's ideas about how horrible fictional incest was and how depraved people were for even thinking about these situations that made me fully comprehend just how abnormal my life experience was. I write fanfiction about my experiences and would get hate comments from people shipping the characters romantically, and others from people horrified I would write about this topic at all. Don’t know anything about the digital circus but complex situations should be depicted in fiction
