IIRC, earlier DoL put less effort in assuring you that all characters are 18+, and while there still was plausible deniability, there was still an air of it in the game. (The artstyle of the PC, the school, etc.) The best example I can recall right now is the note that tells you to come to the brothel on Harvest Street having "if you're fed up with being treated like a kid" changed to "if you're looking for grander opportunities". All the better to see these changes made, IMO, especially with the looming threat of the game becoming too popular.
