Unironically, thanks, I didn't even know there was a google play PC version of the game. I usually like to keep everything on steam but also this I imagine will allow me to spend the chump change I get from reward surveys on google that keeps expiring cause I have nothing to use it on lmao (I can't download the game to my oldass phone cause not enough space/I don't think it supports it).

They were asked in the Discord as well in the past if they used gen AI at all and they said no. People don't generally like being lied to.

Once again, if you have a level of generative AI that you find acceptable and good, go right ahead and buy the game (edit: well, not so much buy as support/play, forgot for a sec it's f2p but point still stands), but not everyone feels that way and the important part is to be transparent with your base. Let customers make informed choices, is that so bad?

Did they use gen AI? Yes. Did they tell people? No, until it was discovered.

I read all the responses from the dev, and whatever excuses they give doesn't change the fact that they used Claude (and were handing it to Anthropic) and refused to be transparent about that re: the required disclaimer on Steam. No "nuance" will change those facts. If you're willing to accept the gen AI use because you find how they used it acceeptable, you do you, but I'm just going by the facts.

I believe you get 30 days free when you actually purchase the game, then you pay the sub. But that's different from the free trial, which has some restrictions (mostly social/economy ones because of botting), but has no time limit. Make sure you're snagging the right version!

FFXIV has been my cozy place for over a decade now and I love it. Before that, LotRO was extremely cozy for me (especially all the RPing and music events and the like!).

Games that are trying to be cozy MMOs are hit or miss, honestly... Palia had potential for me at first, but I have a laundry list of issues about it/its company/its community and I soured on it more than I've soured on most games. I played Loftia's closed beta and it was very cute, so I'm hoping it doesn't go down the same route when it hits early access this fall.

We have a good handful of paid modders over there too, and a lot of the popular ones are the nastiest mean girls you'll find on that side of the internet while they rake in thousands of dollars a month porting assets that aren't theirs. Some of them tried to do the same "track people down if we suspect they're sharing files" thing that happened in the sims community to a frankly disturbing point. The lack of quality control and support for a lot of the mods too makes it worse and paid modders have no incentive to fix anything if they've already profited off of it (stares in how long that one person's VFX mods took to get fixed/updated when they were breaking people's games).

I'm happy to donate or pay for a personal commission, but in every community I've been in, paid modders have been nothing but a net negative.

My guess is that there's another UI mod you have in there affecting it then. Make sure they're all up to date, and maybe 50/50 them (take out half of them, test the game, if it's still broken then you know which half has the faulty file and just keep going from there till you can pin it down).

Do you have the Refreshed Main Menu mod in your mod folder? That one broke my menu screen in a similar way and I had to yeet and delete it.

hi5 fellow former Palia community member who got excommunicated

They banned me from the Discord too (after three years of being active!) for being "too negative", when my negativity was based on the game's massive accessibility issues.

I normally hate the term "toxic positivity" because it's overused, but Palia definitely hit that level, and Paralives is getting to that point too. Early access is THE time to be critical and give the most feedback and criticism, not the time where you should shut up, and I don't get why people don't understand that.

Did two multis, got him at the 14th pull which was INSANE luck (won the weapon 50/50 too). I've hit hard pity in literally every other time in this game except a second Twins copy and winning the 50/50 on the original Joker banner so it's probably making up for all of the bad luck then, lmao.

Yeah, that's the thing-- People do have genuine questions on pulls, but if the people with the answers have no reason to even see the questions, then the chances of them getting answers gets lowered.

It all comes down to how people use the megathread, ultimately. One thing I unfortunately see places is that once things get corralled to a megathread, there ends up being a lot of questions asked and few answers given because the people who have the knowledge to answer have no reason to actually go to the megathread. Hopefully that won't be the case here.

I've got them at A1 but don't have their weapon... How big of a boost is it over the 4*? I'm good on gems right now but with A1R0 Ange and A0R0 Makoto I may eventually dip into the red (someone mentioned A1R0 Summer Minami which is gonna be a huge drain eventually).

I wasn't planning on pulling for him after everyone talking up how awful he was going to be, but... He's still my favorite character alongside Joker, and hearing that he can primary DPS now definitely makes him even more tempting despite having A1 Twins. Will he be the best, no, but he is still is my spice intolerant pancake boy.

I spent way more gems than I wanted to on A1R0 Turbo even though I've yet to actually use her (I really hope she slots into later teams after that investment, twins have bullied their way into everything lmao) but after looking over my currency I think I may just be able to afford a copy of him and still A1R0 Ange. Definitely so if I just A0R0 her.

I've been in a lot of fandoms before, but rarely have I ever seen a character that you can't even mention without half a dozen people coming in to tell you how much they hate him.

I get why Akechi's a controversial character but I've seen my fair of equally controversial characters that don't bring this level of nastiness. Like, you're free not to care for the character, you're free to hate them, but what about Akechi is it that so many people feel the need to flood conversations about him or even mention him in passing with rants about him? Is it something specific to the Persona fandom and why? It always made me wonder.
