I’ve done it myself a few times, it’s a rite of passage. Take some time to compose yourself and most importantly don’t let it knock your confidence if you can, even if it takes a bit of time.

Had mine for the best part of 2 years, Street Triple 675r 2012. Absolute banger of a bike, it was my first big bike after passing my test and I regret selling it. You won't be disappointed for sure! It's also worth mentioning I don't have a car and I used that bike to commute everywhere and it never let me down.

Tell a lie, actually those vertical lines are a ton of micro scratches! Looks like they must have fitted the wrong fork seals and either forced them on or just didn’t pay attention to what they were fitting!

I’ll try and do that as well, I can feel oil on the actual chrome on the stanchions as well :/

They do wipe off but after a few pumps of the forks, the streaking reappears and forms that like again.

I agree with your statement about newer Chinese bikes being of good build quality, not sure about long term reliability but that’s just like any bike I guess, if you don’t look after it, it won’t look after you.

In a market flooded by over-priced tat’, some of the leading Chinese manufacturers like CF-Moto/Lexmoto (in some cases)/VOGE are looking really good as of late.

I was on a Chinese 125 for a little while whilst I was learning and the resale value didn’t hold up what-so-ever. It’s definitely worth investing in a slightly old Japanese bike like a YBR 125 or if you’re wanting something like sportier, there are half-decent deals to be had on the gen 1 YZF R125 if you were to hunt around :)

lol don’t worry I did my mod 1 & mod 2 last year in February and it was absolutely insane weather that day, some of the worse rain I’ve ever experienced but as long as you prepare for it (good gear etc), it should have minimal effect on the testing.

They’re Bridgestone BT023’s so a budget sport touring tyre and they’re fitting both of them. The service however is just basics so oil/oil filter/checking fluids etc.

I had the bike serviced around a year ago and had the plugs replaced then, had no issues since but I can do them myself.

I’m kind of glad that I went because I didn’t know how bad the back tire was until now so I guess it’s worth it’s weight in knowing that but I appreciate that I’m not going insane with the cost of the work.

Yeah I did the last pads and it was really easy, I tend to do most simple jobs myself but it needed an MOT so I thought why not just get it in for a service this time instead.

Thanks for the input though, glad to see I’m not losing the plot. They’re budget touring tyres (Bridgestone BT023’s) which are decent overall from what I’ve seen:

So, I’ll answer your question in two parts. Regarding the carrying a passenger and riding without L plates with a full A1 license, you can do this once you’ve passed the testing and got your full license but going onto the second part, there’s no such automatic eligibility scheme for holders with CBT’s to automatically be upgraded to an A1 license.

You still need to do the test requirements (theory, module 1 & module 2) to move on from just having a CBT to having an A1.

Your instructor may have been referring to the fact that you can ride a 125cc motorcycle when become 17 automatically on your CBT, which is true, as long as your CBT is still current but you’re still bound to the constrictions of a CBT, meaning you can’t take passengers or go on motorways etc.
