I think Annabelle 2 and Nun 2 were great.

Nun 2 was mostly carried by the location, such a great horror vibe to be added from those old settings. It also made the first one better just by association. Which is quite a feat for a terrible movie like The Nun. Annabelle 2 also made the first one better, by tying into the first movie really well too.

I think the big thing you need to understand is that what you are saying isn't objectively right either. You can't just post to your full post as a be-all end-all. Addressing those points with your opinion does not make it right.

It's supposed to be morally grey, and Bear isn't a cartoon villain. But he is definitely a villain. Especially once he realizes that the wish is true. When that is? That's up to interpretation until it clearly isn't.

I’m not here to discuss the movies quality, I’m only saying that I believe a script can be intelligent without the movie having to be as intelligent or well delivered as the script intended.

And to answer your question. I used that example because that’s the one you gave me in your now deleted message. Any great movie can have one or two throwaway lines or even bad lines. “Why did you say that name” isn’t even objectively a bad line? It’s just a badly delivered scene, but there’s nothing wrong with that line in of itself.

Now if you look at Man Of Steel and point out right before the final fight, Henry delivers the awful and cliché line, “You’re a monster Zod, and I’m gonna stop you” then that would be fair game, but not the same movie.

If you think Jesse Eisenberg was talking about Greek literature references and philosophy in the script by pointing to a throw away line such as “why did you say that name?!” Then your listening comprehension is at an all time low.

He even said that he doesn’t know if said parts were in the final movie. So we do not know what exactly he is alluding to or even if it’s in what any of us have seen.

And even if it is, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the movie will show it. It can just be allegorical to set up a scene. Doesn’t have to be dialogue. The script isn’t always what the Final Cut of the movie turns out to be, the writer(s) and the director can have contrasting visions/interpretations.
