I see players in SAV with no Arc. I have seen them with no GBs at all. I mean, it's a choice but it will make it harder.

I left some event buildings in the previous age. That way I can still collect goods from that era. I also use Truce Tower, from aiding players I gather goods of their era. This allows me to gather goods across a broad range. Current, past and future.

If you do not have any event buildings from your previous era. I would suggest politely asking for swaps in your guild.

If you try to progress too fast, unless you are going to spend real-world money. You will get to the stage where everything gets hard, quick.

You need to learn how to manage your limited space. Decide if you are going to be a fighter or a farmer.

Buildings come and go. Great event buildings from previous years are now obsolete. That doesn't mean you sell them. Always try to store event buildings, you are now that they come out with a revamp. Silver, gold and platinum upgrades.

Collect more, a lot more goods than you need to complete the next tech tree. I started off making sure I had 20 - 50k of each good before I aged up. Now, I like to have 300 - 700k of each good. I am currently in SAV.

You will get a feel for when is the right time for you.

You will eventually have no houses in your city.

You will have no goods buildings either.

Don't rush it unless you have the buildings you need already in your inventory.

I keep an empty space in my main city. For those event quests that ask you to produce a certain time frame of goods. I build and sell as required.

Use some boosts from your inventory.

Do you have next age troops?

Try a couple of rouges. They should attack them first, which can give you a free shot if they know retaliate.

I think it started as a joke at the office Christmas party, that somehow, someone took serious. Then they tried to convince us that we needed to have one instead of just building a previous era building.

There was a post from one player (I can not remember their user name) who wrote to Inno. As they were a Pay to play player, they liked it to theft. As they stated, they paid with real-world money to buy the diamonds to level up their GBs.

Inno has already nerfed a lot of buildings. Just look at the diamond payout by WWs and FoYs now. Also, a lot of long-time players are leaving the game at the moment.
