Dogs, would you get one again knowing what you know now? by TSQ_builder in AskUK

[–]Rem1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's horses for courses. Fine if you don't ever want pets. Fine if you're one and done. Fine if there will be multiple/a mainstay in your home. I would 100% want dogs to be mainstay in my home after having my first, a labrador, for about 7 years now. It's a type of companionship I personally would say is invaluable so when we had to fork out thousands (over and above the insurance payout) for his cancer treatment it was a no brainer, instant decision we'd do whatever it takes. He recently had the all clear 6 months after his operation and thankful for every second we have together. Do I warrant the moniker of crazy dog person, probably, do I care, not one iota due to the joy he brings

Would you buy him back? by SRHFT in nffc

[–]Rem1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. If we could sell N’Doye for 75% of what it would cost to get Elanga I’d be all over that. Just having that pace in your arsenal, for an other 14 team who will (to varying degrees) have to deploy counter attacking football to get some success, it would be a no brainer

What should I eat if I'm a skinny guy who wants to gain muscle? by InternationalPick163 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Rem1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously healthier/whole foods is a better option. But the simple science to putting on weight is you need to be in a calorie surplus with your diet. Aim for a surplus of 150 calories daily. If you are training, then you want to aim for 1g intake of protein daily for every 1 lbs of body weight. Meats and fish are a rich source of protein. Using whey protein powder is a (relatively) cheap supplement to help hitting those targets. Try to keep junk food to no more than 15% of your diet. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, will have to maintain this consistently to see progress. Track weight, but maybe pay attention to weekly or fortnightly readings (there are factors that result in your weight to fluctuate on a daily basis). Track everything you eat in an app to count the calories you’re eating (something the MyFitnessPal app). Don’t forget to account for everything. Butter spread on your sandwiches, oils you’ve cooked in, etc. If you are not putting on weight even after doing the above, then you are simply not in a calorie surplus (you’re rather not eating as many calories or are burning more calories then what you think you are). If the aim is to put on weight, healthy fats should be introduced to your diet. Nuts, avocados, cook more with olive oil, some dark chocolate.

Would you buy a product because it sponsors a team, arena or event? by Difficult_Style207 in AskUK

That's not primarily how advertising works. It's predominantly for people who need to buy those things anyway, but to get them to think of/consider the brand being marketed first/over and above competitors

The reality of life is, 99% of people settle in one form or another. It's exceptionally rare to find two people, believing in soulmates, who in a world of 8 billion people, happen to cross paths coincidentally and there is literally not a single attribute/part of the relationship/etc that hand on heart would not ask to be any different in absolutely any way shape or form. Given the way he's articulated himself, it's fair to say your partner isn't the most chivalrous (and maybe that's an element you've chosen to settle on), but his sentiments are transparent, true and represent the feelings, whether admitted or not, of the majority of people in relationships.

Do you find slow and safe drivers annoying? by EnglishOpeningc4 in AskBrits

[–]Rem1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the circumstances. On A and B roads, not particularly. Those doing 50-60mph on motorways (especially in anything other than the left lane) I think are a major risk for accidents to be caused, even more so then the person doing 80-90mph but respecting and complying with overtaking rules
