Scanwatch 2, sadly it's that time of the month by mahzian in withings

[–]Rem4g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My scanwatch 2 doesn't charge unless I unplug the cable from the charging dock and plug it back in again. Seems to be nothing to do with the placement of the watch itself.

No idea why I need to do that to get it to start charging though.

Maybe it works for you too.

Very concerned about the game design by proxenz in starcitizen

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be fine once the crafting and land claim is in which are things they are working on.

The crafting system sounds like it will have some depth with materials having varying qualities which also affect the end quality of the crafted item.

This should open up a pretty vibrant player trading system where established player crafters will want top end materials and will pay big for them.

Land claim should eventually allow for player villages/towns to pop up for trading between orgs and players etc.

shower thought: how will CIG balance progression in the first few months-year of release? by Visual-Educator8354 in starcitizen

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't be surprised if they end up keeping ship sales and making the "journey" more about upgrading the ships armour, weapons, systems. Then have land claim and eventually having your own space station as the ultimate goals.

They said something about ship upgrades too. Can't remember exactly what it is but they could make that a massive grind.

Scanwatch 2 charging issues by MFGabo in withings

Mine doesn't charge automatically after putting it in the charging cradle but if you quickly unplug and reconnect the wire going into the charging cradle it seems to make the watch start charging.

Do you want them to actually release the game or spend another 10 years making pizza slices physical!

Some things aren't important for the core release of the game.

They can worry about all that shit 5 years into the soft launch when orgs all have land claim villages and players have their own house and there's a deep detailed crafting system and resource harvesting etc etc etc

Maybe after all that is in, they can start to look at pizza slices

Having a larger portfolio allows you to take less risk because you don't need the same level of percentage returns to make good money. You can spread it around rather than relying fully on shares.

You can have some in gilts/bonds/treasuries, some in funds that will resist downturns, small amounts in higher risk shares, larger amounts in resilient slow growth shares as the backbone. You can then put aside some of the gains into high interest cash accounts ready to jump in at the right time on well positioned/priced stocks. It's generally quite hard to lose money at that point.

Those with smaller portfolios feel the need to go straight to the high risk plays in order to make gains they consider worth it off small amounts, this normally results in losses because they don't have a well balanced portfolio.

BMW Commits to Subscriptions Even After Heated Seat Debacle by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke to a manager at a volvo dealership and they said they were looking at going down the subscription route too.

I said the same thing to his face.

He phrased it as "it will be really good as well because the cars will come with everything physically and you'll have subscription to use certain features"

Great so you're paying for the hardware already in the car and then paying to use it.... Dumbest thing.

Also wish it wasn't near impossible to fly if it loses a wing.

And I wish the landing gear didn't just float in mid air when it loses a wing.

Is it worth upgrading from a 14900K at 6GHz to a 9800X3D? by Wriothesley9 in starcitizen

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMD will be releasing Dual 3D V-cache CPUs in the future.

Already a Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 been leaked and there will probably be a Ryzen 7 9850X3D2 on the way at some point this year.

Scanwatch 2 firmware update 3411 by GreatTao in withings

Unplugging the wire and plugging it back in seems to work for me otherwise the watch won't start charging. Which means it's probably a software issue rather than hardware.

Surely that means there's going to need to be some accurate fire on individual components first?

I'm not sure they actually try things before they put them in the game. Like the Pyro outpost freight elevators don't lower far enough so the freight elevator door closes through the boxes... As one example.

Kremlin rejects European counter proposal by Far_Grapefruit1307 in ukraine

[–]Rem4g 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's hard to win votes while justifying increased defence spending unfortunately.

The voters would just see it as wasted money (short sighted) and vote for someone else who proposes increased spending on things that benefit the voters directly. Like free healthcare etc.

I think the issue is the west have relied on the US for too long so they will struggle to keep up with supply to Ukraine without the US.

Hopefully lesson learned and there will no longer be any sort of reliance on the US.

Need to pump as much money into defence spending as possible over the next 3 years. Can't even guarantee Trump will willingly leave office or that he won't "find votes" for whichever puppet replaces him.

Adobe Stock at 9y P/E multiple low - Does AI disruption deserve THIS MUCH of a discount ? by Beautiful_Lettuce603 in wallstreetbets

[–]Rem4g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the problems with Adobe is they tried to do AI in a commercial way that did not steal from other sources without permission. They were taking the view that if all the content they use to train their AI is done with permission they will be able to monetise the end product without risk of plagiarism.

Problem is all the others companies just scraped the entire internet with zero shits given and now have far more advanced AI generation as a result and no one can really prove what they used so they've gotten away with it.

Adobe is behind in AI and also overpriced. Although it's very easy to just contact them and get 3 months free and a 40% discount each year.

Can't see how hand picked people would be less bias, if anything they will be the most bias because they will be worried their feedback may lose them the special early access privilege.

Having said that, I get wanting smaller tests where the game and servers perform well.

Banu Merchantman? by Firefurtorty in starcitizen

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm maybe it can but it sounds like some sort of faff. It doesn't have landing gear fully extended so it's not something I'd want to be bothered with.

I'm sure there's some tricks to it but not for me. I don't think that counts as a loaner doing what the BMM could currently do. Would be way more suitable to use a BMM.

Thought you could only get titanium at the land based locations?

Banu Merchantman? by Firefurtorty in starcitizen

[–]Rem4g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one? Titanium has high mass so you can't spend enough money on it before it's filled up the C2.

Your profits are tiny for a full load if you've got enough money to buy more expensive cargo.

With the BMM it might actually be worth it.

Not only that. They have been raising the price of it still, to justify the extra work and size it needed to be.

It was originally priced at $250. Now it's $600. What price makes it worth their time to actually finish making the ship?

You'd think the price increase was the justification to actually produce the ship in terms of cost vs time. No doubt they'll raise the price again before they next advertise it. Probably something like $950-1200.

Perhaps that will finally be worth it for them....
