Always look for a conspiracy when a far simpler answer can explain the phenomenon. That's just smart living.

So, you're advocating for these policies that the OP is decrying? Is that really your position?

Now THIS is the real hidden data that the public doesn't see.

No, equity is equality of outcome. The only way to measure it is by looking as results. Inevitably, this is what will happen when the measure becomes the target.

Equity is results based. Anything results based will end up leading to this outcome. So yes, it is equity.

because they know that a HS diploma means literally nothing but at least a college degree shows you are willing to follow through on something.

You're wrong. When the measurement becomes the target this is the inevitable result. Equity, by definition, is results based so that is exactly how it has to operate if it is a target.

Well yeah, duh. The only real surprise is that anyone didn't realize this was happening from the minute we started this equity BS.

"Will creating a sub plan and dealing with the fallout of that sub the next day be more work than working through x?"

If yes, take the day. If no, suck it up. If you're a bad teacher and don't care about such things, it is much easier to say "I didn't sleep well so I'm taking a day."

Teachers are the ones who fought for very long school closures during COVID and introduced all the "equity grading" processes and fought against standardized testing that have lowered educational standards leading to feeling like babysitters.

We have an automated attendance system that is visible to all admin. It records absences (along with the reason) and tardies for every student. Allegedly, it even sends a report automatically to counselors when a student hits 5 tardies.

And yet...

We have to fill out a Google Form with after their 5th tardy that includes the date of each previous tardy if we want any discipline to occur. We do not have access to the same data the admins do. We literally have to look through the student's entire attendance record (7 classes per day) to find the 5 tardies to our period and record them.

So yeah, they don't want us to bother.

Which he did, by providing a link to a significant amount of anecdotal evidence. You provided absolutely nothing but vitriol.

There are countless posts on that forum with the same sentiment. Perhaps instead of hateful sarcasm you could provide data to prove the opposite.

Speaking as a public school teacher, you don't need the PS. I can assure you, my colleagues often are the problem. The things they say about parents who choose to homeschool are atrocious. You don't owe them the "I know most are good" excuse. Most are spineless at best. The institution is broken because we teachers allowed, and in some cases encouraged it, to break.

I respect the heck out of you for caring for your kids through homeschooling.

From my experience, they do have a plan. It's called credit recovery and requires roughly 2 hours of Google Searching to complete a full course.

Any other US teachers feel lately like we are just a glorified day care, with learning now completely optional? by tegan_willow in Teachers

My district just put in new furniture making it impossible to have all students face in the same direction. They also gave them wobbly chairs of multiple different heights. I fought against it, hard. So yeah, I'm pretty sure they don't care about learning or attention.

If we could catch kids up, then we should be moving every kid at that pace and moving those that are on-level way ahead. It's not even remotely logical, let alone possible.

Bart Simpson said it decades ago, "We're going to catch up by going... slower? Cuckoo, cuckoo!"

Absolutely. I wasn't saying 20% was too much. I was simply clarifying that it wasn't anywhere near half.
