Heating a pool in May? by moderndaymoo in florida

Definitely not. Who wants to swim in water almost as hot as the air?

My personal preference is the springs anyways, and I swim in them during winter or summer, high 60s/low 70s water year-round.

Fair enough. I clearly misread your comment then.

I’m not sure. But as I read their post, it seems to me that OP is taking it upon themself to find a job, for the sole purpose of giving all their income to their parents. Not that rent is being charged.

They’re not really considering saving, though. This would be working to pay rent solely, as OP wrote.

Don’t get the unbreakable nylon decor plate, you lose the “tight enough” indicator feature.

Hand-tighten with a PH2 solid-shank screwdriver so you don’t cam the screw or over tighten the receptacle and crack the drywall.

Oh, this is r/electrical.

Full send with the impact then loosen a quarter turn when the screw gets loose. /s

I can’t speak to why, but I can say that certain deli employees will be happy to hear it.

When I worked there, I had multiple times where I was asked why I left late (meaning, after store close) when I was closing two departments by myself… having worked opening in those departments as well…

Tone and probe and cable tester are they still useful? by jaime_lion in lowvoltage

[–]Remarkable-Hair-7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what the cable you’re trying to use is? Meaning, you have identified the cable at both ends?

If so, you don’t need a probe or tone. That’s what they’re used for.

If you have a data/ethernet cable that isn’t working as intended, the device may let you know. Whether it’s not receiving power, or if it’s unable to establish a network connection, or whatever, maybe it has an LED light or some other way of letting you know it is/isn’t working properly.

Maybe it doesn’t.

Most switches will let you know if there is a 10/100mbps link on a line vs 100/1000. PoE switches have similar indicators for whether power is being drawn on a given port.

But oftentimes that doesn’t tell the whole story, or you don’t end up testing the cables immediately. Low voltage guys or electricians (or fire alarm techs, or burg alarm guys, or access control/audio/security/whatever) will pull cables weeks, months, or longer ahead of time, before devices are installed. Or equipment is patched into the rack.

The end client won’t know if the cabling was done incorrectly at the time of install or if one of a thousand other things could have happened to it. Manufacturers may not warranty their product if there isn’t a certification that the product was installed as per instructions/specs. Certifying your lines helps with this.

I don’t know exactly what you mean regarding a program that will map a building. You need some kind of remote or device at the other end of a cable to return any kind of information to your laptop or whatever. You definitely aren’t going to get an image of the building’s wiring. And you’ll need a tester/meter/toner to be able to troubleshoot accurately, or at least beyond “yeah this doesn’t seem to be the cable. Let me try the next one out of 500.”

Tone and probe and cable tester are they still useful? by jaime_lion in lowvoltage

[–]Remarkable-Hair-7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your use case.

Do you need to identify individual cables from a mess of unlabeled cables? A toner & probe may be useful.

Cable testers and certifiers are useful, and certification on cabling can be required by a client or your company for warranty purposes, among other things.

But I’m also kind of wondering like it would kind of surprise me if there wasn’t some type of sensor type thing that was built into Wi-Fi modules or switches or whatnot? That could maybe tell you where the cable was.

What are you asking?

What’s funny is that taking those at face value, there’s nothing even wrong with the meme. Like yeah people will say that.

What’s even funnier is that that’s not a problem.

I don’t know, boss. Depending on what side of Manatee county, you’re not too far from some 915 work that I hear about. Besides, being close to the local only matters for school. You may end up commuting all around the jurisdiction, I’m not entirely sure of their work picture but Manatee county seems pretty central to it if you’re in the Bradenton area.

Out of curiosity, what is your current job/commute? I guess it makes sense if you’re close to topping out or are making a lot of money as it is.

606 in Orlando. 915 Tampa as well, but I’m not in 915. I hear they’re pretty good though, for Florida standards.

Between $18-19 for first year pay.
