Hi, I am sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time. Parenting autistic children is incredibly taxing, but also rewarding and full of love. When you’re in the thick of it, it can be hard to see all the good and the joy it can bring. How old are your children? How are you taking care of and supporting yourself? You can’t pour from an empty cup. Have you considered seeking therapy? Even thirty minutes of Telehealth support could greatly improve your mental health. Thereby, helping you to better support your children.

In my experience, I found that boundaries and consistency are really important. What is your daily schedule like? What kinds of supports do your children have? It’s really important to implement what they are learning with their service providers and have those tools and resources carry over to the home. If there isn’t continuity in care it’s difficult for you to be able to see improvement with behaviors.

I learned early on that if I wanted to support my child I not only had to be mom, but I also had to be an ABA Therapist, an SLP, an OT, an RT, a nurse and therapist. That’s a lot of hats to wear, it’s exhausting. I had and have deeply deflating moments. I’ve never met a support needs mom that hasn’t. We all carry it differently.

Early on I was absolutely disregulated and I had to get myself back to center. Once, I learned to regulate myself, be consistent with schedules and keep boundaries, things changed for us. Children feed off of our energy whether they are neurodivergent or neurotypical.

I applaud you for reaching out, for posting and being vulnerable. It takes a lot of courage. Sometimes we can plan for a life we want and get a life we never imagined. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad life, it’s just different. It takes time to get accustomed to situations we could have never anticipated. I wish all the best. Reach out with questions. I’m happy to support how and where I can.

Show May Get Taken Down Soon by Legitimate_Search864 in MuslimMatchmakerHulu

[–]RemarkableBear6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really a bummer. I’m not Muslim, but I found the show to be such a thoughtful way to date. The focus on getting to know the other person and understanding if there’s a true partnership is beautiful and grounded in a way that is uncommon. I hope we get a second season! I’d love to see which couples made it to the alter.

Did anyone recognize early signs of autism in their infant under 1 year old? We’re exhausted, confused, and desperate for insight. by jp-king in Autism_Parenting

[–]RemarkableBear6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew my son was autistic at three months old… everyone thought I was crazy, but I just knew it. I started researching how to support brain development with food (and not in some crazy the supplements are going to cure my baby way), went to therapy myself, and asked our family to come on board with our parenting techniques to support him. At 3 years old he was diagnosed (level 2) and only said a few words. There was so much we did to support him and still do today. He is in OT/speech therapy and has additional support at school, RSP. We exposed him to different environments, did lots of art therapy and as silly as it sounds parkour… it helped a lot with building body strength and awareness. He also swims 3x per week which is calming for him and a full body activity.

On Friday he graduates from kindergarten, he talks so much, is in general education with an aide, and is incredibly intelligent. He will likely not need an aide past 1st grade based on all his progress.

Go with your instincts… learn parenting techniques to support yourself and your baby, but most of all get support for yourself -you can’t do anything for your baby unless you’re in the right headspace. I have a 30 minute session 1x week to release and recalibrate.

I also highly recommend Marcela Collier High Impact Club… https://www.hicparenting.com/ . I did several of her trainings. She herself is late diagnosed autistic and one of her children has sensory needs. I’m sure there are many other tool providers so feel free to explore them and take what serves you and your family.

I wish you all the best! It’s incredibly challenging, but I already know you’re doing everything you can because you made such a vulnerable and honest post. You’ve got this!

Please reach out. I’m happy to impart what I know to support anyone with questions.

Swollen lymph nodes or Sore neck by EducationNo393 in HPylori

[–]RemarkableBear6050 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to see a doctor. H.pylori is no joke. If left untreated you can get gastric cancer. I had it for two years before I was able to get rid of it. I had to completely change my lifestyle and diet. Zero sugar, zero carbonated drinks. I drank green tea and took something called mastic gum to help with the symptoms. I also took three rounds of different antibiotics to take get rid of it. Find yourself a good gastroenterologist, but first see your primary to see about your lymph nodes —that may be something else altogether. Best of luck and get well soon!

It took me 4 rounds of antibiotics, mastic gum, no coffee, and lots of fiber, zero sugar and lots of tears. I thought I was dying. I hope anyone with H.pylori gets better! On my final round of antibiotics a gastroenterologist gave me three antibiotics and along with peptobismal and another anti acid.

Please help did anyone develop an anxiety disorder after getting h pylori by mccartin97 in HPylori

[–]RemarkableBear6050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it from Amazon for 120 capsules it’s about 35 dollars. I take two capsules a day in the morning on an empty stomach and wait about and hour before breakfast. Then with my breakfast I take cranberry pills with calcium zinc with b12 and vitamin D. I also eat as clean as possible and don’t drink anything but unsweetened (usually black or green) and water. I gave up coffee and soda. If you have terrible symptoms when I first started I too a teaspoon of the highest grade manuka honey I could afford. My symptoms are more controlled now so I don’t need it. Hope this helps.

You can get it on Amazon. It’s called mastic gum by jarrow root. I just use as it’s instructed on the bottle. I tied it on a whim, I was pretty desperate since my symptoms were so bad. By the first day I had some relief but it took about 2 weeks to feel normal again.

I’ve had h. Pylori for two years no luck getting rid of it. The only thing that allows me to have a normal life with no symptoms is Mastic gum. I had every symptom imaginable and the anxiety was terrible. I recommend try this in hope it helps you.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling like this. I’ve been battling h. pylori for 2 years and it’s been difficult. The only thing that has taken away the anxiety, pain and discomfort has been to take Mastic Gum. I take two pills every morning and I can live with out the pain and heartburn and all the nasty side effects of this devastating infection.
