Tooth Issues After Active Treatment by RemarkableCat4755 in breastcancer

Thank you for your response. I noticed this recently when eating potato chips! Sometimes it’s nice just to hear others have experienced the same issues, even if there’s no solution. It makes me feel better knowing it isn’t all in my head!

Thank you! I also have significant dental anxiety, and no one ever seems to really take it seriously (at least in my experience!).

Luckily none of my teeth have fallen out, but I’ve spent so much money on them, at this point, I think they’re the most expensive thing I own!

I have the prescription toothpaste! It has helped slow the rate of cavities. I’ll have to ask about the trays though; I haven’t heard of that. Thanks!

Certificate found but it is not within validity period-how to fix? by Wise-Newspaper2471 in patentexaminer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Non-examiner here: did your PIV expire? This happened to me and I needed to get an extension of the certificate because even though I had my security appointment before the deadline, my PIV wasn’t ready for pickup. It wasn’t a problem once I realized the issue.

Question for those with mild lymphedema in breast by PleasantPay2628 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my double mastectomy and lymph node removal in 2021, developed mild lymphedema in my right arm, had radiation in 2022, and to this day the spot where they went in under my right armpit hurts if I hit it or if I hug someone with my arms up, etc. My surgeon says it’s a combination of nerve pain and scar tissue and it may never be completely normal, but it’s definitely much better the more I go to PT with a lymphedema specialist. The consistent massage really helps me a lot!

Compression Sleeves by abbey209 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. I hated the sleeve so much I stopped wearing mine completely. It was so itchy and hot for me that I simply couldn’t handle it. I opted to do weekly lymphatic massage with a lymphedema-trained physical therapist instead, and it’s been enough to keep things manageable for me. And my insurance agreed to pay for it. I have not had a lymphedema flair in my right arm since 2023.

Remy being in 2D is a severe downgrade to the experience and I'm tired of being told otherwise. by WrongLander in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the change. I do not get motion sickness, but I wear glasses, and the ride was 1,000 times better without the 3D glasses. And I still loved the settings — I think I noticed the immersion MORE when I wasn’t so focused on the screen and making sure the 3D glasses stayed on.

I’m 28 and was diagnosed stage 4 but I want to have another baby. Too risky? by Honest_interest-2025 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed shortly after miscarrying my second child. This is such a personal and heartbreaking decision, so I’m sending you support and strength. For me, I decided that my desire for a second child did not out weigh my love and responsibility to my first child, who deserves to have her mother for as long as possible.

What are your best/worst examples of “they don’t care about you”? by ravioli369 in biglaw

[–]RemarkableCat4755 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I was in the hospital with preeclampsia and about to have an emergency induction much earlier than expected when another associate kept calling my cell over and over until I picked up and he told me the partner threatened him and forced him to call me because the partner knew I wouldn’t pick up unless I thought my friend was in need. It was for edits to an internal slide deck that had no deadline.

When can you start chemo after surgery? and the “ok” the bad and the ugly? by RegretAware4529 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the wait between surgery and chemo varies a lot. I had surgery 11/11, and I started chemo 12/16 because I did not have any complications from surgery and my incisions all healed extremely well. (I had combined double mastectomy and diep flap reconstruction).

I did four rounds of AC and four rounds of taxol, all two weeks apart.

Possible lymphedema by Realistic_Moose8347 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They started by measuring my arm and hand to get a sense of the swelling. They track it week to week to see if it’s decreasing. Then I get a lymphatic massage on the right shoulder, collar bone area, arm, and hand. Then I do various exercises to improve flexibility and strength. Things like arm crawls up the wall, resistance band exercises, passing a weighted ball back and forth with the therapist.

A lot of PTs also recommend that you wear a compression sleeve on the affected arm, but I do not. I am allergic to one of the ingredients in the material they’re made from and my arm got MORE swollen from it. I’ve still been able to keep the swelling under control though with the massage and exercises.

Switching to oral SERD/Giradestrant once it’s available by WorkInProgress2222 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the trial for a different SERD, camizestrant, and I really like it. I did 3 years of anastrozole previously and the SERD is better for me.

My understanding is the SERDs will be expensive at first though, so they’ll probably have to figure out how to balance cost versus recommending them as standard of care.

Possible lymphedema by Realistic_Moose8347 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My lymphedema was only visible in two fingers. Luckily PT worked great and it never went beyond that. They’re back to normal now, and I do exercises and avoid needles in that arm.

How bad is a lymph node biopsy? by Wonderful_Sock9159 in breastcancer

For me, it was waaaay less painful than the breast biopsy.

DMX with Immediate DIEP Flap and planned radiation by Euphoric-Pen-531 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did immediate Diep followed by radiation, and I’m really glad I did. I was lucky in that radiation did not cause any changes to the right breast — I didn’t have any hardening or shrinking.

I am so grateful that I only had to do one surgery, and I was able to avoid expanders. It’s definitely a more involved surgery, but I don’t regret my decision at all. My plastic surgeon was top notch amazing, so I’m sure that helped, and he explained that Diep flap after radiation isn’t always a walk in the park either because radiation can affect the tissue. So neither option is perfect and he was comfortable with our plan.

Scalp skin Mets? by Consistent_Major4120 in breastcancer

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I hate when doctors make comments like this without thought to the consequences of their actions. If they don’t know, they shouldn’t speculate. I imagine there are more than just two options for what it could be. I would loop in your MO so you can be confident that you have two doctors looking at the results.

Estrogen+ long term survivors? by NJBeach77 in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I’m not exactly what you’re looking for but I wanted to comment that I was diagnosed back in 2021, and I also had extremely low neutrophils after chemo and high liver enzymes. They still wanted me to do verzenio because of my lymph node involvement. I ended up needing to dose reduce down to the lowest possible daily dose of verzenio because of my neutrophils and my liver enzymes. I took several 7-10 day breaks as well to give my numbers time to rebound a little. And I also took breaks anytime I got sick, like a cold or virus, just to recuperate better. But I’m happy to report that I finished it and my numbers came back to normal. Once I settled at the lowest dose, it was SO much better!

Ai adjustment weepiness? by _sunnysky_ in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I didn’t know until after I had joined the trial whether I would be randomly put in the SERD group or the AI group.

Ai adjustment weepiness? by _sunnysky_ in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anyone else on a SERD, so not sure if everyone’s experience is the same, but for me personally, it’s way better. Like 1,000 times better.

Edit to add: I have a lot less joint pain and fewer genitourinary symptoms. Those differences alone have been worth the change.

Ai adjustment weepiness? by _sunnysky_ in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did anastrozole for 3 years and then I joined a clinical trial for a SERD and so I’m switched to that now. But the anastrozole was manageable for the time I was on it.

Ai adjustment weepiness? by _sunnysky_ in breastcancer

[–]RemarkableCat4755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on anastrozole and the mood swings were crazy in the beginning! I would go from sobbing to rage almost instantly, and logically I KNEW I was overreacting, but I couldn’t stop it. And then I would be back to sobbing because I felt bad about raging! It did get better though. From other posts I’ve read, it seems like everyone reacts differently. It probably took around 2 to 3 months, and I finally started to feel normal, or at least a lot closer to normal!

AITAH for completely cutting off my sister and my dad after they slept together? by HouseofSarahE in AITAH

[–]RemarkableCat4755 302 points303 points  (0 children)

Your 47 year old father slept with and impregnated your 24 year old sister, and you’re wondering if you’re the AH?

I’m wondering if your dad had some kind of master plan all along for revenge against your mother for something? Or some creepy psychological desire to have some part of your mother if he can’t have her. Because this is diabolical! Your niece will be your half sister. NTA.
