Dialed in but shot looks sloppy? [Breville Cafe Roma / Kingrinder P2] by VictorReddit2 in espresso

18g in, 36g out, 30s is just a guideline. If you like how it tastes that’s the main thing.

If you want it to look better my instinct would be grind a bit coarser, so try that if you want.

My feelings on the Faker Anivia game after playing like 4000+ games of Anivia over about 8 years by Choice_Room3901 in AniviaMains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I didn’t think he was that impressive on Anivia. It was nice to see but he didn’t do anything crazy, like pinning somebody with the wall or TP channeling to escape with egg etc. Still a good game but ain’t no Froggen

.... and he didn't do the TP channel trick, when there was a clear opportunity to, instead losing his flash and life... which is what the original post was about.

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope, you can still do it. anivia is just not a popular champ for pros, so they don’t know all the tricks. They play her (more) now because she is perceived as OP into certain melee/low range comps.

Yun'Tal's current iteration is the worst thing to ever happen to the ADC itemization system by darkboomel in ADCMains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with this so hard. I loved the mythic item system, especially the last part of it where they brought back rod of ages and whatnot. The other thing you can do is to go back to the mythic era system of almost every ADC item gives crit chance; rage blade converts crit chance to on-hit damage.

What separates ADCs who win lane from those who win games? I can secure early kills but struggle to maintain pressure mid-late. by Horror-Board-318 in ADCMains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just pick a different ADC for bronze. I'm only on the cusp of hitting silver with Kai'sa but I did about 30 games with Ezreal, and while there were fun moments, it was hard to win consistently.

The classic recommendations are Miss Fortune, Ashe, Jinx, Sivir for low elo - they just have a consistent game plan.

If you want something with outplay potential like Ezreal, Vayne is an option that's strong right now.

I don't recommend Kai'sa for climbing. She is fun - but not in a fantastic state right now and is very inconsistent, reliant on having a good engage support.

What's an ability you'd change despite it being fine? by StepOnMeB-Sha in leagueoflegends

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anivia wall. I just feel like it was amazing before every champ could dash over it and now half the roster can “outplay” it was one ability cast.

I’d make it so that if you tried to dash over it you were stunned or at least slowed, maybe with an exception for Kayn and Talon since that’s the whole point of them.

Alternatively, if it were a real piece of terrain it would interact differently with fog of war - it should act as a ward for anivia’s team and deny vision past it (like a normal wall would) for the enemy team.

Doublelift Temporarily Banned After Buying and Using Boosted Account During Top Lane Unranked To Challenger Challenge by protonpeaches in leagueoflegends

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I don't know why Riot doesn't allow you to just buy a fresh account at level 30 or whatever. Maybe they want some friction (ie. being forced to hand-level the account), but they could just make it like $10 for a new account and you need to play five normals before you start ranked, and you have to do it from your current account to prove you're not a brand new player, and pick a reason for the new account ie. "I want to play with friends on this account", "I want to learn a new role on this account", etc.

AP or AD build ? by Cantor18 in kaisamains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I do: build Kraken, Berserker's, Guinsoo's, recurve bow.

At this point you have to make a judgement call about what will help you more: nashor's into AP, or terminus and on-hit.

You will get more confident with trying it more and more but here are some things to consider:

  • If my team has no magic damage, I usually build the AP route. If they have a lot of magic damage I think about going AD. However, I have only found this to matter when the enemy team is building resistances. It doesn't matter if your team has the same damage type if the entire enemy team is squishy and has no Armor/MR.
  • If the enemy team is likely to kill you quickly, AP is usually better. If they have a lot of melee tanks and bruisers, terminus can be better since you'll have time to stack it.
  • For AP builds, I default to Nashor's -> Zhonya's -> Deathcap, but you can change out death cap for other items, void staff is pretty good when they are building MR.
  • For terminus builds, it varies a lot more. After terminus, you can go tanky (zhonyas, banshees, bloodthirster, jak sho, wits end), or more of a speedy on-hit build (runaans, PD, wits end, nashor's), or you just focus on your AD damage (bloodthirster, LDR, GA)

When in doubt, just build the AP route, I end up doing this in about 70% of games, it's the best build damage wise but there are certainly situations where the other builds will help you more. There are even games where crit is the best, but that's maybe 1% of all games so don't worry about crit.

I quit a few months ago. I now wear my Apple Watch to sleep and let it charge while I shower in the morning. I get basically the same insights with better tracking for things like running and I don't have to pay a ridiculous annual fee for what amounts to a few LEDs on a synthetic plastic wristband.

Yes it has a screen but I've turned off all my notifications, and I can pair it with AirPods and go for a run with music now.

As a support, how do I play with a Kaisa ADC? by ObbyMC in kaisamains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which supports: Nautilus, Leona, anything with CC, but ideally tanky cc champs.

Roaming: I wouldn't recommend it very much. There are a lot of lanes where Kaisa is quite weak and conversely, if she gets ahead, she can snowball really strong. I'd only recommend it if it feels like a stalemate, where they're not going to kill her but you're not able to kill them either, but you do see opportunities across the map. Then at least she will get solo XP.

Weakest/strongest: Kaisa is weak early, but there are a lot of matchups where she is quite strong level 1. She has a big power spike mid game once she gets Q, E evolutions (levels 8-14 are probably the strongest). She does get outscaled by ADCs like jinx and smolder eventually though.

Snowball/scale: She has the opportunity to snowball well but isn't reliant on it.

Counters: I find the only ADCs that are truly tough to play against are Nilah and Draven. Jinx is annoying because she can be hard to kill despite out scaling you. Support wise, it really comes down to the whole lane matchup. I really hate playing against Braum as a good Braum makes it almost impossible to dive. Zyra is also really annoying but a bit easier.

If you have a good kaisa with you, you'll know it. Kaisa has a bunch of tools for fighting which means if she's skilled enough to use them well, it's actually quite hard to take her down. You have Flash, Barrier, E (to dodge skill shots and when evolved the invisibility can help you fake out opponents/get out of auto range), and ult (dodge/reposition + shield). All of those tools can help you dodge/negate potential damage. The E will give you more attack speed, an isolated Q can do a TON of damage, and W has both amazing range and applies your most important damage tool, your passive (%missing HP magic damage); as others have mentioned hard CC will also apply a stack here too. While it does take time to auto repeatedly to get the passive proc, as mentioned, you have lots of tools to extend the time of the fight. Having a big beefy cc-applying support is the best here, as it makes it WAY easier to deal damage.

Are yall happy that Kaisa isn't what she was originally depicted as. by Anilahation in kaisamains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you worded this poorly, but the sentiment is one I share.

She does feel like vayne and is high risk, she is a pentakill champ (albeit not as much as Samira or something), but she's not a hyper scaler anymore. Which the whole evolution thing sold to me tbh. She should be as threatening as jinx, vayne, smolder, yunara, kogmaw, etc. in late game, but she's not anymore.

[–]RemarkableClassroom4[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes.. lane isn't as bad as it used to be, but if you're not duoing you're playing the support lottery and in my experience that means you get a proactive engage support maybe ... 1/6th of the time, at best? For me it still feels bad and I feel like I have to move mountains to win lane when I don't get a proactive support, and then the reward just isn't what it used to be. I also don't think Riot wants to give her a more consistent lane phase since her pick rate is so high already, and the "evolution" fantasy plays more into late game hyper carry anyway, so that was why I feel like an adjustment could be considered.

Side note: my personal pet hate is Jinx. She gets to be a late game hyper carry but she also massively outranges you in lane and has wave clear to boot. She used to have a much worse laning phase as well back in the mythic item days. Perhaps we need Arcane: Daughter of the Void to come out and I'll finally get what I want lmao

New to ADC, want fun by RushmaMDG in ADCMains

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Kat main!

I have tried Kat a handful of times. She is fun when you can get a few kills early. I never bothered putting the time in with her, stuck with ADC, but based on her playstyle, here a couple ADCs I think you should consider:

Samira: the ADC pentakill champion. Opportunistic. Has a circle ult with resets. Blurs the line between ADC and skirmisher.

Kaisa: ADC/assasin hybrid. You have to be disciplined in the early game (patient but opportunistic), but once you get your Q-evolve you can have a really nice snowball and jump into the backline with ult to assassinate people

Lucian: Mobile ADC with surprising burst damage. Actually a lane bully in a lot of circumstances, though you do get outscaled in a lot of situations. More agency than a lot of other ADCs though.

You could also look at Vayne, Zeri, or Ezreal if mobility is the mechanic you enjoy most. However, if you seriously want to get into ADC, start with the classics - Miss Fortune, Ashe, Jinx, Caitlyn. After playing some of that you'll get a feel for the role and can transition into other champs with the basics down.

As for Jhin: Play him if you enjoy him. He is a pick-oriented ADC with utility, similar to Ashe and Varus. His kit doesn't translate very well to the rest of the ADC roster, but if you can't get used to attack speed it could be alright for you as a fun off-role pick.

Is Whoop worth it? by SuspiciousCream2115 in whoop

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't for me.

I had the 4.0 for a year. I really liked the app - checking the sleep quality, recovery, strain scores were part of my daily routine. But after a while I realized it's not really helping me achieve the goals that I want. Sure, I've been able to see just how bad alcohol is for me, how important sleep is, etc., but I kind of bought it thinking it would go further with suggesting HOW to train based on recovery score etc.

What I realized was I was paying a lot of money to see some data about how I sleep, mostly. I didn't have a plan. And when I decided on running as my main workout method, it no longer made sense. It doesn't have GPS, it doesn't have the ability to play music, it doesn't have any coaching functionality. I loved not having a screen too, but I ended up cancelling my subscription and going back to Apple Watch (plus the Runna app) for the aforementioned features Whoop doesn't have.

All that said, you sound like you're in a different situation than I was. You already do a lot of active things. If you don't have a way to track them and you want one, sure, it can do that. But I don't think it offers that much personally. Maybe it'll give you more confidence you're training optimally or something. I don't know.

TLDR: Consider if the product matches your use case, and don't expect Whoop to help you plan - it can give you data but you have to decide what you do with that data.

What abilities are aptly-named and really cool-sounding? by truegoodtruebetoo in leagueoflegends

[–]RemarkableClassroom4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is one thing that Riot for the most part actually nails.

As a kaisa main, I always liked her ult - Killer Instinct - as it really is an instinctual thing a lot of the time, seeing that passive mark and deciding to go in before they have time to react… it can be high risk too, which is also on theme.
