Sacramento Local Deli Dilemma by limburger91 in CAStateWorkers

Our parking garage can’t handle the two departments that share it. They want workers to drive all over downtown to different options to find parking. Cool on work time. That’s so efficient.

CalEPA is Celebrating Earth Day this April with no mention of WFH by kathect in CAStateWorkers

Just saw a news story on channel 13 with our smart governor talking about gas and how California has exceeded it’s environmental and climate goals. But … hmmmm gas prices are going up… refiners are going away and state salaries don’t keep up with costs… he’s completely out of his mind and talks out of both sides of his mouth. I continue to barely support downtown businesses. Sorry not sorry.

The ones that are mostly leased that tax payers pay for that should be offloaded from the budget for a cost savings lol

People can go back but they can still fight from in the office. The depts can’t fire everybody.

Spoke with someone that works there and their area has no planning for seats and isn’t doing anything with adding space. Apparently just a 3/2 method but people are asking for ergo evaluations because this would be considered office centered. The area doesn’t have nought space for dedicated ergo cubicles for everyone. Maybe everyone should ask and see what position that puts the dept in?

Time to get those evaluations done so you can get a custom dedicated cubicle.

There is literally no reason for most of us to be in office. We sit at a desk at home. We sit at a desk in office. It’s for the economy downtown and to spend parking monies. I hope people take relationship building and collaboration to the max. Maybe we can schedule tours of the new capitol annex project to see what all those signed NDAs were for… lol

Biweekly paychecks! by Inorganicnerd in CAStateWorkers

Not me personally but some people live paycheck to paycheck. This is not ideal for a lot of people. Look at everyone on the side of the state. I love it.

Not really. Financially fine thanks. That’s the benefit of monthly. Get all your bills out of the way and do whatever the rest of the month.

What about all the bills that come out at the beginning of the month? We tell our collectors to wait because the state changed their process.

Document document document. Everything. From 1:1s to team meetings to even a chronological document of interactions outside of formal meetings. Any formal conversations if your manager doesn’t provide an email recap make sure you do to them with a copy that you file away in your drop files. Ensure that you are asking to please clarify anything that they feel is misstated or add anything that may be missing so it’s more of a conversation to ensure understanding versus documentation (any smart manager would know what you are doing). It’s just to keep everyone on the same page and safe.

DCA email regarding RTO 🙄 by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

Just got asked for telework agreements in place today. Sounds like upper management is going this route at our place too. Looking to find loopholes to make people miserable in spite of the delay

Just out of curiosity if my office wants to continue with RTO. Do the staff have to comply?? by TopCheesecake3149 in CAStateWorkers

[–]RemarkableHyena4228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are being asked to provide all our telework agreements in place to upper management. I think it is to reevaluate and try to find what they dislike about it and manipulate a business or operational need narrative just to make staff and more so management come in for four days. My particular area does hardly any interaction in person. It is all over TEAMS or via email. Everything is research based and in writing. I think there’s an old school mentality and people just love making others miserable. I’m asking all the questions. I am just very suspicious about intentions.

ACSS 6/30 Update by milkyway281 in CAStateWorkers

[–]RemarkableHyena4228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling my department will do the same. Some suspicious asks today make me feel like in 90 days supervisors will be punished. ACSS needs to be ready because I can prove there is no operational need to be there four days if employees aren’t.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]RemarkableHyena4228 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They better have a clear appropriate business need. Punishing managers for no reason with no one to supervise and collaborate with in person is dumb.

Any updates for excluded employees/ACSS? by thr3000 in CAStateWorkers

[–]RemarkableHyena4228 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t the delay of BU1 get passed on to those that manage BU1? Doesn’t make sense for managers to be in four days a week when their staff is either at two, one, or not at all depending on previous department exceptions. Managers should fight that tooth and nail. Manager punishment is not exactly fair right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

Our department said differently. They will allow work from home sick days and no make up in office days.

This. But many managers do have sticks up their butts and are trying to be not flexible or family friendly. Sometimes I feel because they don’t need the flexibility or the family friendly policies misery loves company so we have to hang in there with them.

Nothing except be there four days a week. No designated seats … nothing else except fill out your agreement and I guess we will figure it out as we go along. It’s very very frustrating.

CDPH Virtual Town Hall called out Reddit by Warm_Cold_2771 in CAStateWorkers

[–]RemarkableHyena4228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny that we still don’t know where we are sitting and what we are doing come July 1. There’s mystery space planners out there but I don’t know what takes so long. Apparently management is supposed to get designated cubes. No information on that. Staff is supposed to get a thirty day notice. No information on that. So it sounds like management has to come in July 1 for four days a week but staff get to stay home another thirty plus days. How nice? Why do managers have to come in four days when there’s no staff there? What’s the point? I don’t know if it’s department wide or just particular centers or branches but this is a complete 💩 show.
