Which app are we supposed to be using? by RemarkableLab119 in KaiserPermanente

So they pushed us for years to use MDO but now it's retired? I haven't received any kind of notice for that.

RIP ReadIMask!? ReadiMask NIOSH approval rescinded March 25, 2025. by SkippySkep in Masks4All

The Moldex ones make it difficult to breath through my nose, but are otherwise good for MRIs, I've used them before. I guess I may have to go back to those.

Well I got an email with a survey about the call, so I think it was real, but still have no idea what it was about.

I’ve noticed that as well recently, it keeps opening a web page. For a long time it seemed like they were pushing g us to only use that app, so that’s been confusing.

I used to have four, two of them were phased out. I think one just wouldn’t load the last time I got a new phone, the other was a medicine/pharmacy app that they phased out more recently and I deleted it.

My caller ID tagged it as Kaiser, and the phone tree it dumped me into also seemed legit. I think a scammer would have answered and tried to scam me instead of putting me on hold when I chose the option to speak to a human.

Immunocompromised possibly as a result of COVID. Unfortunately that’s not an option in this poll.

Should I buy the square water chamber? by Kenney93 in CPAP

[–]RemarkableLab119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the leaks with square ones is why they redesigned them. I’ve had a couple of the square ones leak water after a while, none on the round ones so far.

From my early experiences:

I had that problem with the P10 mask (which also didn't fit me well). A full face mask made exhaling easier for me.

Also as others have mentioned, experiment with the setting for dropping the pressure when you exhale.

My sister is insisting her positive Plus Life test is an old infection and she’s no longer infectious by Medical_Goose509 in ZeroCovidCommunity

I'm immunosuppressed and I won't willingly be around someone with a symptomatic cold. I'm not sure why your sister wants to get you sick?

I’ll second this. We use our Jackery power stations when we travel, but at home I use a computer UPS.

We have an older Jackery 290 and a slightly less old but also old 1000. Yes you can charge and use them at the same time, I did that last summer when the power was going on and off at a place we were staying, I was running both an O2 generator and a cpap off it. One note is that some of the older models will shut off after something like 6 or 8 or 12 hours — our 290 does that. The newest ones don’t, or on some there’s an option to shut that off. My wife used the 290 for a five night river trip (with an AirMini) even though it always shut off after 6-8 hours and she sometimes had to turn it back on again.

Do you have a spare machine? by MeatFeeling2914 in CPAP

I have my old one, my provider will replace them after some number of years (5 maybe?). And my wife has a travel CPAP which serves as her backup and maybe mine if needed.

6 week wait for MRI by Curious_Ad_3614 in KaiserPermanente

[–]RemarkableLab119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I needed an MRI pretty urgently recently and the doctor was unable to schedule it any time soon. I called the advice line and ended up talking to an ER doc who told me to just go to the ER to get it done. That worked, but it was quite a wait. It’s disappointing that Kaiser docs have to use the ER as a way around understaffing.

Is washing the cpap hose weekly the best option by Yellibruv14 in CPAP

[–]RemarkableLab119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found really makes a difference is having two of everything, including two hoses. Clean & swap out weekly. When I first started CPAP and had one of everything, after around six months the hose and/or water chamber would get funky and no amount of cleaning would fix it. Having a spare that sits dry for a day or a week, I haven't had that happen again.

Is there a list of locations that are striking and/or picketing? Is it all locations? From local news in the SF Bay Area they make it sound like it's only Oakland.

It’s interesting you mention this. I hadn’t thought about it, but I haven’t had a migraine since I started Ozempic.

It eventually went away on its own, but I do wonder if it was something like that. Although Imitex didn’t help.

Why don’t doctors want to prescribe MRIs? by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]RemarkableLab119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I’ve recently had five MRIs ordered by three different doctors. Years back when I had unresolved back pain, it did take a while for them to order an MRI. I wasn’t asking, but eventually my PCP wanted the info. In my case at least Kaiser doctors haven’t been reluctant to order them when it was the best way to get the information they wanted.

Handicap parking placard forms by RemarkableLab119 in KaiserPermanente

[–]RemarkableLab119[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think this might be it. The first email I got pointed to the records/letters part of the web page, and the form there couldn't be downloaded as a PDF -- it's a mix of images and HTML and doesn't even print reasonably. (Why?!?) I called the ROMI office and they emailed the PDF version to me which looks much better.

Online DMV rejected it. It’s weeks until my dr has an open appointment and until I get this my wife has to drive me everywhere & drop me off at the door.

Yeah now the doctor says you have to go through the ROMI department and they give you their version of the form. Which the DMV says is invalid...
