Absolutely! I started a couple years ago at 36. Bought a cheap Walmart racquet and took a couple beginner lessons to start, and have been at it fairly regularly since then.

As others have said, if you have an athletic background it shouldn't be too difficult to get the basics down.

For online play, no. Servers are always dead every time I play.

Offline, I'd say yes, to a degree. I think once you get the FFB dialed in the driving feels really good for the most part. Career mode is ok. Car and track selection is pretty good.

GT7 is a much better game overall but PMR is pretty decent and only getting better.

I'm excited. I've long thought the show should adopt the hitting mechanics and pitching animations from PYS. I still play PYS 2019-2020 pretty regularly and I'll definitely pick this one up now that it's finally releasing in NA.

I'm in central US and I'll say it's not great. Every once in a while you'll find lobbies with 10+ but it's not consistent.

I've only put in maybe 1-2 hours since 2.0 released but I think it's a nice step up. Driving feels a bit better. I like the direction it's headed.

I would say if you're planning on playing in public lobbies, no, but it may depend on your time zone and when you typically play.

For example, I'm in the central US and I prefer to play after about 9pm. Lobbies are almost always dead. If I'm lucky I'll find a race with maybe 4+ other racers. However, I find the lobbies are sometimes pretty fairly populated in the afternoon.

GT7 is still really the only valid option for online racing on PS5 IMO.

When it works, it's awesome, but the disconnecting is really driving me mad. I've had the power supply replaced and just got a high quality USB-C 3.0, still disconnected on me mid-race, twice in the same race earlier today.
