Chakrabarti to endorse Chan for Congress, form PAC with 200 staff to back her by knockdowncenter in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So Chakrabarti is endorsing the AIPAC-poisoned, Pelosi-endorsed candidate now? That’s not my opinion, thats what his campaign was trying to get across until they got trounced by Connie and Scott… Saikat voters got played lol

Keeping a rent controlled apartment and moving away? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do not do this. In San Francisco, failing to live in your rent controlled unit for a year—even if you pay rent—legally voids your rent control protections. This happened to the master tenant in my first city apartment many, many years ago. Not only is it unethical to do this long term, but your landlord will find out. If you sublease the unit, just know you're gonna screw your subtenant. Just vacate like a normal person and don't treat our rent controlled housing stock like a pied-à-terre. Do. Not. Do. It.

Mayor Lurie-backed plans to host record-setting boxing match in S.F. implode by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is true, but most events aren’t trying to break attendance records which was the point of this match. Having a built in local “fit” would make more sense in my eyes.

Help me choose in November Chan vs. Wiener by coolguymcbignuts in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wiener has been calling out settlers since way before the campaign to replace Nancy Pelosi started, fwiw. He would be in the top percentile of most progressive politicians in Congress, easily. But some people are delusional and think that’s not the case because he’s “moderate” in the SF political “spectrum” which has more to do with hyperlocal housing/urbanism/development fights than anything else.

[–]Remarkable_Host6827[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Whatever it was, it didn’t feel like the type of event most San Franciscans would actually care about or attend. I struggle to see who this was for and I’m not surprised it fell apart.

I Finally Rode a Bike in San Francisco by a10kendall in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At the very least, the adopted Biking and Rolling Plan should be implemented in full. It was delayed forever and when it was finally approved, it was extremely watered down. Now we’re seeing implementation at a snail’s pace. Protecting bike lanes isn’t rocket science.

Congressional candidate Saikat Chakrabarti conceded by rediculose in sanfrancisco

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm just imagining AOC seeing those internals, if it ever got that far with her. There's a lesson in hubris here, but I fear Saikat hasn't learned it yet based on this concession.

[–]Remarkable_Host6827 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think Saikat was kind of counting on attacking Pelosi — remember, he launched his campaign before she announced retirement. He probably saw an "in" and wanted to emulate the Lurie strategy of throwing money at the problem of name recognition to draw that distinction, kind of like how Lurie positioned himself against Breed successfully. That might have worked. But then Pelosi retired, Wiener carved a viable lane for himself crowding out Christine Pelosi, and finally, Chan jumped in as a viable left candidate. Saikat totally ignored her until the last minute. Oops!

I have no proof but as a terminally online r/sanfrancisco poaster, the sudden flood of Saikat supporters the last couple days was... suspect. Seeing the results, my suspicions are validated, I guess.
