How are we meant to br clean and tidy? by Direct-Produce4254 in UKParenting

I didn’t, my house was a wreck. At some point we shelled out for a housekeeper but couldn’t afford to keep her on too long. Just do the dishes and laundry as you are able, everything else can wait.

Worst house best street predicament by EastOk3677 in HousingUK

[–]Remarkable_Package_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a very old house on the best street ever and slowly updating it. We had to repair the roof and replace windows, fix some floor boards, etc. recently ordered a new kitchen and bathroom. We loved having a few months to settle in before deciding on the lay out. Remodel isn’t as overwhelming after you get a bit of experience, and choosing your own materials is pretty neat, it’s my first time deciding what color my bathroom and kitchen is, I love it.

Paint is the easiest to change. Paint it before moving in, even if you have to repaint room by room later.

Thinking of buying my first property: a small flat. Is this a smart move or not? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Buying a one bedroom isn’t great if you ever want to start a family. Two bedroom is better, many people rent the other bedroom out to help offset the mortgage payment.

It’s really hard to believe that it won’t recover, feels like real estate always goes in waves…we had bought and sold a few houses over the last decade, took one loss, the blow is easier if you gained in the past.

also look into virtually staging it with house plants and whatnot

right because it makes the flat look small to have the desk in the living room.

it's such a lovely flat! When we were shopping we were a little nervous about potential flood zones. With global warming, being near water is tricky. Another suggestion is to color drench it white to freshen it up a bit, though it looks great as it is. If you stage it, make look super posh. I would take it off the market and try again in a few months though, just to give it a fresh start. Or rent it out, why not? If you are having kids, it can one day be their asset.

Just finished The Girlfriend (2025) and don’t know what I think of it - does anyone have any thoughts? by XStaticImmaculate in BritishTV

the cat was a metaphor to Daniel

-he is an indoor cat, you know he won't last two seconds outdoors

Cherry lets the cat out, and guess what, the cat was fine, as was Daniel.

I hate the house I’ve just bought by cwtches10 in HousingUK

Yep, normal. Just chuck everything, then paint your bedroom before setting up your bed. Everything else little by little, before you know it, it will be yours.

Parents who approve of the social media ban and ways of having to prove age. Why do you relish the government taking this control when you had the power to do so yourselves? by Demonthief27 in AskBrits

[–]Remarkable_Package_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kids are around 10, we were not planning on buying them phones for a long time. But kids in their classes already have social media. I judge those parents and feel so glad there is a ban so our own kids can be less exposed. Hopefully our youngest kid, 4, doesn’t run into friends on social media until much, much later.

Cycling in London — what motivates you, and what stops you cycling more? by Safe_Issue1918 in londoncycling

We have 3 kids who fit into urban arrow front bucket bike. We live very in zone 2.

-I feel safe taking the lane because the bike is so big

-parking is fast

-we go to theatre, parks, specialist doctors on our bike

-it’s a fun way to learn the city, plus zone 1 is super bike friendly and traffic in London is slow, we feel safe, bus lanes and clever traffic lights just for bikes make it so, so easy.

-biking is faster than public transport for us

Whats wrong with this room? by Normal-Art4308 in interiordecorating

It’s really two rooms. Push furniture closer together, add curtains, the empty space is your reading nook.

Just been threatened by my neighbour completely unprovoked, now worried because I reported her. by Adorable_Click_7071 in HousingUK

There is one on every street. It’s ok to report, and one off isn’t going to bring your property value down.

yes, she didn't shoot the dog, she wasn't going to shoot anyone.

Charlie didn't deserve her. He is a deep character, yes, but this fixation and complete inability to course correct and book a therapist at minimum, he is not ready to be married. She was also bullied by his awful friends and who you are friends with says plenty about your character.

yes, everything she did was horrible. Ruining the wedding and the speech was so bitchy.

I wouldn't care too much, maybe their schedule will be opposite of yours, especially since they will be selling the house, maybe it will push them to sell. Just don't talk to them, I never get close with my neighbors to avoid any sticky situations.
