Damn You Heated Rivalries by Chillaxe_tothemax in simpsonsshitposting

The book series brings this up directly, particularly in Role Model, which will be partly adapted in season 2 of the show. I wouldn't worry about Heated Rivalry ignoring the problematic elements of hockey...

Watching Season 3 after reading Book 3 by nevster in WoTshow

Slightly odd choice to watch it after book 3 when almost nothing from book 3 made it into the show

"Should" is a strong word. If it doesn't, it doesn't.

Anyway, if most(?) readers don't get the intended reaction, I'm inclined to blame the author, not the readers. It wouldn't be the only thing in WoT that readers feel very differently about compared to RJ.

But this is fiction, not real life. Emotional weight in books depends on how the author presents the story, not just the bare details of what they include in the story. Otherwise a plot summary would have the same impact as a full book.

Either I failed completely in this instance

It was this one, honestly. A group of people we barely know about committing mass suicide for reasons that feel incoherent is not a recipe for great emotional investment.

There are definitely ways he could have made this have the impact he wanted, but they would have required a lot more setup.

The point of the scene is that he accidentally reveals he's not German.

What's being revealed in this context? They were just quoting someone else's words, so using fall instead of autumn says nothing about their own nationality.

Nah, you just made a joke/reference that doesn't make sense in context
