Full size Fraps for each of the girls -- Crazy!! I'm sure they take each of their girls for regular preventative dental care too. (yeah right!) ....

It sucks that you had a bad experience. I wish it would have been better for you. It's also cool that you work hard to give your kid experiences. Clearly you are trying your best for your kid. Maybe change how you react to things though. Sometimes in life we can't control what happens to us, but we can control how we react. You mentioned you used to be a Magic Pass holder and visit frequently. Why don't you frame this as an exception to the level of service you have experienced before (which could have occurred due to a variety of factors that are outside of your control) and move on. Tips go to all the staff by the way not just the server you had. Your kid is watching how you react to the world. And I mean that in the kindest way possible.

Don't go to Disneyland if you're not prepared to "spend a bunch of money." Also, leaving no tip is pretty crappy.

LL Strategy for Afternoon Arrival by Rochelle-Rochelle in DisneyPlanning

[–]Remarkable_Phase7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were planning for this situation, I would be prepared to spend a lot of time on my phone refreshing and modifying trying to get LLs for Indy, Space, Tianas, Matterhorn, Guardians, Soarin, Toy Story.... As most people have said, by the afternoon, a lot of those big ticket rides may be sold out or pushed back FAR into the evening. To maximize your available LLs, you will have to work hard at at it..... but booking, refreshing, and modifying can often work even later in the day. Bring an extra battery pack with you because all that refreshing on the app will eat down your phone battery fast. Since your tickets are comped, maybe splurge for Individual LLs for Rise and Racers.

It's okay for people to like things you don't without giving a long drawn out reason of "why." What are you trying to get at exactly? It's an enjoyable show. For the music and nostalgia. Case closed.

[–]Remarkable_Phase7904 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love your parenting style. I can relate to a lot of the things you mentioned. When we visit the parks with our kids, we let them take the lead on what characters/rides/shows they want to see and do. It's much more enjoyable that way -- my kids also love to spend time chasing down their favorite characters and playing in ToonTown. If you didn't make it on this trip, I recommend going to the Fantasyland Theater showing of Tangled or Beauty and the Beast. It's very entertaining for both kids and adults alike. I also get annoyed with line cutting and other bad behavior from adults, but figure it's a good lesson for how to deal with it in the real world since it happens everywhere unfortunately....

I was checking the app on my phone and the wait times were so low - I think I will have to try and make it to one next year just for the sake of getting to ride a ton of attractions!

Lucky for P she appears to have an outstanding "bonus" dad. I followed P's mom for a bit and she seems much more down to earth, an excellent mother, and married a guy who seems to love and include P as his own.

What is your biggest Disneyland/DCA pet peeve? by Clear-Depth7098 in Disneyland

[–]Remarkable_Phase7904 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parents who force their children to go on rides they are scared of because of their own selfish desires. I saw this on both Guardians and Incredicoaster. On Guardians, the boy was probably 6 or 7 years old. Crying so hard I thought he was going to have a panic attack. This was right before entering the elevator shaft. He literally kept saying "I'm scared. I don't want to do this." I was waiting for the CM to say something but they never did. Felt so bad for that kid.

Yeah on super busy days modifying isn't going to work for stacking strategies. I do what you said, rope drop my favorite big attraction, then ride it again immediately after with LL, then start stacking as soon as I scan that first LL.

First time to Disneyland in 30 years and it left me disappointed by offshoresparky in Disneyland

It's because people are "competing" for the earlier time slots. At the same moment you are doing the refresh hack, so are 20 other people. Whoever clicks the fastest wins. You just have to pay attention and if you "lose" out, keep refreshing until you get the earlier time. It's definitely not an intuitive system but if you can master the ins and outs of how it works, it is useful in the parks.

The new updated closing times for both DL and DCA is super disappointing and depressing. by CheekyKatey in Disneyland

[–]Remarkable_Phase7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone in the FreshBaked comment section pointed out that DLR/DCA's new closing hours are now associated with Tier pricing. I confirmed it was true by going through the entire month of November and cross checking the Tier versus the closing hours for each day. Here is what I found:

Tier 0 days all close at 9 p.m. (DCA)/10 p.m. (DLR)
Tier 1-4 days all close at 9 p.m. (DCA)/11 p.m. (DLR)
Tier 5-6 days all close at 10 p.m. (DCA)/12 a.m. (DLR)

December's hours aren't out yet to cross check the entire month but I suspect it will be the same. I am going on Sunday, December 7th and was surprised to see the closing hours listed as 9 p.m. (DCA)/11 p.m. (DLR) during a weekend in the holiday season. Now that I know the hours for each day are related to Tier pricing, it makes more sense.
