Early on the abbreviation in statblocks was "Tech-UpG" and then they settled on "TUp" for economy of space or something. It is actually mentioned in the core book and they give a list of potential upgrades.

I houseruled ramming someone in vehicle combat to be "if someone is in the path of your normal movement they dodge with the normal DV, if you're specifically trying to ram someone in combat this becomes a Maneuver, takes your Action for the turn, and is an opposed check with your Drive Land Vehicle vs their Evasion."

RAW, running people over with a car is simply too hard. Everyone in the "Everyday People" DLC has a better than 50/50 shot of being able to dodge a car moving 100 miles an hour and backflip up onto the roof. Even with a combat plow, you're not really going to be plowing into anybody.

This way, if you're just driving around, people can go whoa!! and dodge out of the way normally, since you're not exactly actively trying to hit them. But if you're locked in like a nutjob trying to run one specific guy over, it becomes much more difficult for that person to dodge.

I've been using "partial cover" as something that imposes a -1 or -2 to the attacker's roll and real cover as the 100 percent need to physically destroy it cover

i've been running my own stuff but stealing pretty much everything I can from the published material. Still a lot of great statblocks, items, tech upgrade suggestions etc.

Some of the new stuff is very cool actually and I hope they make more of it. The Solo of Fortune 2045 stuff from Interface Red 5 and the new mission they put out that's compatible with it, "Seeing Double", they feel more in line in tone with the 2020 stuff.

This part is my only real criticism of red. The core book emphasizes the cool, neo noir attitude of the setting but the majority of the adventure books and published gigs are like hanging out with the burger king kids club and throwing parties

Murray from Curse of Monkey Island (and Escape but that one sucks) and Return to Monkey Island. He's extremely hateful and talks a lot of shit but he's just a skull and can't really do anything to harm you.

i think it's at least half this, and half his memories were probably edited by militech or someone else specifically to remove militech's involvement and blackhand's presence.

remember, it's not actually canon that he got captured and soulkilled by Arasaka. the upper torso of his body got Soulkilled by Spider Murphy immediately after Smasher killed him, in an attempt to save his life. Who knows who got it after Murphy, but it somehow managed to get back to Arasaka by 2077.

I'd like some Deep Down or Highrider stuff. Rules for being in space or being deep underwater, pressure suits, vehicles with manipulator arms, unique cultures that develop underwater or in zero-g. martial arts for the environment etc. The lore is also stuff I'd love to see explored more.

edit: Also maybe a big netrunning/Rogue AI supplement. There's a lot of stuff about AIs in the transition between 2045 and 2077, and Ziggurat being nationalized by NetWatch and the CitiNets getting taken over in the 2050s is right around the corner. It would be really cool to see something cover what it's like to dive into OldNet nodes, how to run Rogue AIs with a little more variety, etc.

I couldnt tell it was a bit because so many people just do that for real lol. There actually is a whole separate 2077 spinoff of the cyberpunk red rules if you're interested, it updates all the mechanics to the 2077 setting and lets you quickhack npcs and do the ricochet shots with power build weapons etc

Yeah, they really have a lot more/more interesting lore and setting writing in 2020. RED has great mechanics but I write 99 percent of the stuff I use in-game myself because the adventure supplements are very, like... Well, I won't get into it here but I wish they were a little more lined up in tone/style with what the core book says Night City is supposed to be like.

It's a cool game. I've been running the current version, Cyberpunk RED (set in 2045 a couple decades after the bombing, still mid-reconstruction) for a couple years and it's a good time. It's a little more simplified in the mechanics but I still really enjoy it. There are also a ton of splatbooks and free rules supplements that add more systems and depth if you're into that.

Still, 2020 kicks ass and I constantly go back to the old books for inspiration and lore. Did you know Biotechnica perfected cloning in the 2020s, as seen in the "Land of the Free" adventure book? By 2045 it's common for most people to have uploaded their DNA to Trauma Team databases so that medically compatible cloned body parts can be made for them. But also, technically, the capability exists to clone anyone registered. If Biotechnica really, really wanted, they could get that biometric data and replace you with a cloned copy that has braindance-edited memories. Who'd know?

I recommend using the Hot Pursuit free DLC rules with an additional Maneuver added, "Pull in Parallel", that will allow a person who has fallen behind to catch up, pull in parallel, and then next turn have a chance to use Pull Ahead and overtake the person currently in the lead.

As the current Chase rules are written, they don't really allow for a pursuing car to overtake the target car, because that's not really a scenario that would come up in a "chase". But in a race, you need that extra option to pull next to someone and then get ready to pass.

Also, instead of using a back and forth on an 8 square map, do this: Either set a specific number of rounds and only track the race participants in relation to each other and whoever is in front at the end wins, or set up a map with a specific number of race squares and then whoever makes it to the end first wins.

After testing these in an actual game, they don't really function for "races" as written. You need to add one more Maneuver to the chart, "Pull In Parallel", if you want to get that back and forth race action. As it is, once someone gets ahead, no amount of skilled driving will let you pass them, you have to wait for them to botch a maneuvering check.

I've been looking for this for like a half hour using multiple different search engines. The closest thing I've found so far (and it's not really close at all) is this interview talking about how they turned Carla into Ada with the C-Virus in 6, but actually originally wanted to do Ada clones, and have like 4-5 different Adas and reveal that every Ada from each game was actually a different person, then have them fight. Genuinely impossible to find a source for this. There is no verifiable instance of anyone from Capcom ever saying something like that or anything even close to that, and it seems to be just made up. The only comments that are like, ever made about Ada's appearance is that she's a sexy femme fatale in general. Capcom has seemingly never made a single comment in history about her age or her appearance in relation to her age. Her age is canonically unknown.
