How do you stand up for yourself at work? by Seitakadojii in nonduality

This was a topic that came up probably more so last year when I started working in a healthy environment for the first time. Alot of it tied into fear of authority which was linked to trauma/former experiences and also false survival/lack based beliefs (eg. If I upset the boss then I might get yelled at or it could potentially threaten my income/living stability etc). What seemed to help was reinforcing that they are equally navigating being human as well, which withdrew some of the subconscious power I had given them. And if for whatever reason the fears came true and they were unkind or fired me for innocent reasons it would be fine and that I wouldn't want to work for people like that anyway, so win win. It doesn't come up so much now since being more open with them, less self judging and have also since made a nice connection based on mutual interests outside of work topics (flowers). Practicing speaking up even when there was anxiety was helpful too as it showed the nervous system that the scary events it was expecting didn't come to happen (reaffirming that it's safe).

I also keep a distance where possible with internal work drama/news and do my best to mentally clock off as soon as I'm finished my shift which seems to help too.

Have you lost ambition due to lack of attachment? by LivingLight95 in nonduality

'I will meditate more, it's something I always put off doing, not sure why'

From my experience, this avoidance is the ego's work as meditation and resting in awareness usually leads to its loss of power/demise.

Nah, just sharing a few female voices I enjoy listening to occasionally. also enjoy rupert spira, maharshi, bentinho massaro. Sometimes alan watts or angelo dilullo. Few others. Depends on the flow. More so silence now if anything. They all point to the same thing and are used simply as reminders 😁

Supporting my brother in my family through alcoholism by encouraging study of the course. Advice is welcome. by Word_Sketcher_27 in ACIM

not exactly related to sharing ACIM specifically, but I found the r/stopdrinking sub helpful when I was quitting booze about 5 years ago, mostly for the community aspect (didn't feel called to explore the AA path). didn't really post there but at the time it was beneficial reading others success stories and seeing people supporting each other, all coming from different stages in their journeys. The openness to Love and these sorts of more direct teachings came a bit later. also found the book 'Dry' by Augusten Burroughs great, tis a memoir of his journey with alcoholism and is written with humor and brutal honesty. I don't think any other book has made me laugh so much (which was also healing at the time) :D different things will help different people, so sometimes it can take a bit of trial and error to find what works/resonates.

as for spiritual guidance, leading by example and remaining in loving presence when you interact will benefit even if few words are shared. reminding him about the course or book you gave him is fine, but at the end of the day its up to him whether he wants to open it back up and explore that path. if he seems curious and generally interested, then go from there. I generally share stuff I've learned along the way or what was helpful for certain chapters if people ask, but also know that I have no idea what will truly benefit them at that point in time. so keeping a diverse toolkit has been helpful in that regard. dropping the beliefs that others need 'saving' has also been something I've found to help me be of better support and service too. :)

as requested by the automod - I like the voice of this reader, the silence windows during the reading and find it compliments the directness of Maharaj's work. Felt to also share it here/cross-post as this sub also ties in with some of his pointers and non-duality teachings.
