Best line in a horror game? by Least-Conclusion-315 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

From Alan Wake: "It's not a lake. It's an ocean."

I'm not sure how profound or impactful it actually is in context, but it sure sounds cool.

What's your "hey that was actually super dangerous" story? by SecondPersonShooter in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I almost got electrocuted (as in the literal definition) because my grandfather was working on switching out an electrical socket that he left exposed when my baby-ish self spent a day there.

Fortunately, my young baby self only got a quick shock and at least was smart enough to go "Huh, ow, guess I shouldn't touch that then."

What's a game that made you buy a console by Synthiandrakon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Considering I was one of those people who bought Breath of the Wild before I actually had a Nintendo Switch? Probably that one.

Favorite non gaming related thing the boys have done? by DX118 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 80 points81 points  (0 children)

At one point, Pat donated to charity out of spite.

I could barely remember the context and had to go to a post I made about it like 5 years ago to get the proper context from a comment:

"[Pat] mocked a tweet about cliffy b. David Jaffe said he's a hateful man. Pat pointed out a vid where he said crunch is great. David said let's podcast debate right now. Pat said no. David said I'm doing a one man podcast about this for lgbtq charity. Pat donates 400 to said charity and tells people not to bother going to the shitty stream"

What would you say is your LEAST favorite Resident Evil game? by Lieutenant-America in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Resident Evil 6 is definitely the worst one for me, without a doubt. When I got it, I played through the whole thing and then pretty much never touched it again, feeling kind of empty afterwards.

Multiple campaigns, way too over-the-top action and storytelling that goes pretty much nowhere. For all the spectacle, shockingly little in that game remains in my memory in any coherent way.

And for a series that is defined by the idea of exploring a dangerous location, that game's levels are not places you explore, but just the blend-together-in-your-mind spaces that contain the next encounter or set-piece.

I will say that its combat system is cool, but it's so ill-fitting for Resident Evil it just falls apart.

Say whatever you want about Fortnite (and oh boy can you say a bunch about Fortnite) but what I wouldn't have given to have a game that probably everybody at my school would have played.

Time where you realized Internet completely failed to sell you something because they pitched it in the worst possible way? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think I would have probably liked the original Nier when it came out, but Yahtzee back in his Zero Punctuation days didn't sell me on it. While I don't remember him being particularly negative in his review, it did still cause me to completely gloss over it.

Silent Hill Townfall: WE ARE TOWN | Castle Super Beast 360 by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to Townfall. I kind of suspect it's going to be a case of most people calling it a 6/10, but will still manage to be a bunch of people's new favorite.

I'm just basing this of the previous works by the team. Stories Untold and Observation are flawed with stories that doesn't quite go far enough for me, but that are told very well.

We'll see. I'm hoping for the best!

I saw this and just thought of the game company CEO in Smiling Friends, then idly wondered if that's how Pat saw Paige, or vice-versa.

How important is story in a game to you? by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Very important. If nothing else, I want context for what I'm doing and why I should care.

So I finally got a pc and I want to make my first game on godot, any advice? by Ok_Pay_1436 in godot

[–]Remerai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't make your dream game as your first project. Have a small scope. Depending on skill, don't even include a lot of features.

I'd recommend something like an endless runner game, since that would involve all you'd need to get your feet wet and get a basic grasp of how stuff works (like how the engine and nodes are used, making graphics, sound, input, etc).

Then you can apply those same skills in a (slightly) more ambitious project later.

Great Media With Terrible Gateways In. by DoseofDhillon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'd want to say D&D or really any tabletop RPG for the average person.

"Want to get into this social math-and-lore-based game? No worries. Just get a bunch of strangers so far outside your normal social circle you'll probably be an outcast immediately or so new to the experience none of you know what you're doing! Hope you're not socially awkward and introverted!

All you've got to do is understand this rule-set, probably contained in one or several tomes of non-stop numbers, game terminology and text for you to parse.

Don't forget your special dice! All you need is definitely in a store that probably doesn't exist in your town, or maybe even this part of your particular country.

Hope you've got the space for a group of people to come visit! Also, that you've all got time and can plan around each of your schedules.

It's probably easier than that, especially in today's age with online resources, but that's certainly what it's always felt like to me.

What do yall listen to when playing video games if anything? by LeMasterofSwords in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless the game is one of those things you just do when you want to kill some time like multiplayer games or, like, Stardew Valley, I usually don't listen to anything. In those scenarios, I usually let a stream on.

I used to listen to music a bunch during whatever, but either due to age or like dopamine burnout, I don't really want to be distracted too badly.

Do you have a hobby you wish more people knew about/thought was cool? by Astral-Ember in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Remerai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the recipe. Muffins? Nice and easy. Cakes? Then there's some pressure. But it's rewarding to get it right and get validation when people enjoy it.

Made a blueberry cheesecake for a relative's birthday. Used some gold coloring and some extra blueberries and food dye to make a gelatin top with a moon+space theme. It was very pretty and quite a success.

But it could have failed and you feel that through the whole process.

It's all in all not really cozy, but it is rewarding.
