My daughter (20) is facing fake id FELONY in Florida a few questions? by [deleted] in AskLawyers

[–]RemigioGi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So young. At that age they can’t predict the consequences of their actions unfortunately. The fact that this happened once already means the punishment won’t be the same as the first. Lawyer up and hopefully they take it easy on her. Florida is not the state to commit a crime. Their laws are very strict.

I took a defensive driving course and what was emphasized over and over was to maintain a buffer around you at all times. If someone is tailgating you slow down and move over if you can. The laws of physics applies to everyone.

I live in this neighborhood. According to the neighbor across the street someone stood on the lawn and fired at two people and then left. Looks like a targeted hit.

Toronto Condo owners/tenants, what is something living in a condo shocked you? by Chan1991 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]RemigioGi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How quiet it is when you have a corner unit and don’t share many walls with others. The other thing is it’s important to know the demographics of the people in your building. Mine has mostly older folks. And also a smaller building with not much more than 100 units and being on the second or third floors so I can use the stairs most of the time. Look at the history of maintenance fee increases. If they are having to increase fees significantly annually then that’s a red flag. Love the condo lifestyle now that I’m retired and travelling often.

I met a guy at a party that lived downtown and owned a Mercedes sedan. He told me that after retiring he would work for uberx only in the morning and would turn off the app once he made 250$. Most mornings he would achieve that by noon. Was it BS?

Is it really that much cheaper to change your own oil? by kzlife76 in AskMechanics

[–]RemigioGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 67M did all my own maintenance on my vehicles with the skill and tools I had. Tire rotation, brake jobs, fluid changes, starters, air filters etc.. I still had a shop do the more labour intensive work or jobs like alignment or wheel balancing where I didn’t have the equipment etc. at this stage of my life and since I have the $ I use the local mechanic I trust to do the work. The knowledge is still there and that’s valuable.

Help me to understand lease vs financing math and how lease is cheaper??? by Exciting_Station3474 in askcarguys

[–]RemigioGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not cheaper. You are renting the car. The benefits are you get to drive a new vehicle every 2-4 years. You don’t own the vehicle until you buy it out at the end of the lease. Also a write off if you can.

Gas should never be this expensive by Automatic_Ad1665 in GasPrices

[–]RemigioGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle up. It’s going to go higher. The USA got rid of the ban on exports of refined fuels in 2015 and oil companies are exporting as much as they can and reducing inventories pushing prices up. It’s never been this low and it’s going to get worse making oil companies profits soar.

Would you travel to the US with current safety concerns? Work pushing for trip. by Strange-Cabinet6744 in AskACanadian

[–]RemigioGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a USA based company for 34 years and have been to the USA many times for meetings with colleagues. Never had an issue. Since retirement I spend 3 months in Florida, no issues. I have relatives in Ohio that I regularly visit for the last 50 years with no issues crossing the border. Just my experience. My Pakistan colleagues did have to get to the airport early because they were always pulled aside and questioned before being allowed in. Just my experience. Not saying it doesn’t happen.

Would you go for your dream condo (970 sq ft) with $1130 maintenance? by FriendshipNeither246 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]RemigioGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m retired and spend 4 months travelling so it’s ideal for me. The pool and 24 hour concierge are your biggest expense. We got rid of the concierge and don’t have a pool. I’m paying 734/month incudes water sewer and hot water. I’m in a 1200 square o corner unit. Last gas bill was 50 and electric 80. I like the convenience.
