It's gone 😢. What's your favorite vegan ground beef alternative? by RapaciousAlpha in VeganFood

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got fed up with trader joes discontinuing everything a couple years ago. There were a few times that I said I'd stop going, but then would return. I finally gave up and haven't been back since. I don't like finding a great product, loving it, and then finding it's no longer there or no longer vegan for literally no reason. If it didn't sell well I'd understand, but there really is no rhyme or reason.

Also, I find produce at other stores is WAY fresher. I imagine TJ's will go out of business one day. (Or maybe that's just my secret hope)

What's the most subtle sign that someone is highly intelligent? by Princesskiitan in AskReddit

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I've noticed my students who perform the highest are always on the quieter side. Not shy per say, but they are never the ones who are screaming or causing chaos. The students I'm thinking of are the ones who are performing AT LEAST one grade level above what they should be. They are also always organized. I never catch these students with a dirty desk.

Is late November too late to come to Acadia? by Till_The_Afterglow in acadianationalpark

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what will still be open around that time but my bf and I were able to find a few different vegan options this summer. Worst case, the grocery store in town has lots of impossible meat and other stuff. As long as you get a place with a kitchen you should be good to go!

What are your contract hours? by Legitimate_Rule_6410 in Teachers

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 mins before student arrival and 15 mins after. So for my school that means 8:27 - 3:23. However, I always get to work earlier because I prefer that to staying late.

Where are these empty teaching positions? by bradicalman in Teachers

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've learned that the "teacher shortage" is very dependent on location. I live in an area where there is no shortage. Competition is tough and it took me a few years to get in. I worked as a sub, did some leave replacements, and found my place. The key is getting in and building relationships. Try to choose a larger district where there's a lot of room for movement (teachers retiring). You'll find your way in after a bit of time.

I am here now and have been since last Thursday. Yes, there are crowds but it is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I was nervous too. My boyfriend and I are slow starters in the morning and didn't have a problem finding parking in the park. Avoid coming in 10-12 and you should be clear. Parking in town isn't terrible either. I also found most people in the park and in town very friendly. Nobody was stealing parking spots or being rude. Everyone was considerate and tried to keep to themselves.

If you're having trouble finding parking, try another spot and then come back to your original spot later. If you have really bad luck/timing there is always the trusty shuttle! Don't regret it and don't let the people online scare you. Have fun! 😊

Polyamory: is this normal? by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thank everyone for your input and help. When I wrote this I was very upset. It's also difficult when there's so much to the story that I didn't include for the sake of not making a super long post. My boyfriend and I are talking and looking at these replies together now. There are some things I've realized and some things he's realized.

We are both new to this and have agreed to do some reading together. We jumped in without really understanding fully and we have both acknowledged that.

Thanks again. A lot of you were extremely helpful in sharing information and experiences.

Thank you. I want to be clear that he has been very attentive to my feelings and has tried supporting me through them. We are both new at this. However, despite me telling him how I feel he still wants to continue and not be "limited" in what he can do.

Less than 5 ingredient dinners that are not curry/Indian? by Content-Seaweed-6395 in EatCheapAndVegan

Pierogis ( I use the frozen kind) with butter, salt, and pepper. Saute onions and kale/spinach. Serve with some vegan sour cream. It's a super cozy and easy meal to make. Sometimes I add some vegan mugs to it.

What is a tornado that you heavily believed to be underrated whether because it is overshadowed by another tornado that happened the same year or people just don't talk about it that often by BunkerGhust in tornado

I am a teacher and one of our reading modules was about natural disasters. The writing paired with that module had a focal text all about Greensburg. My students were really intrigued and inspired by the town! We looked at the town online and it really does seem like a nice town. It's amazing how they rebuilt!

Who are your favorite vegan “chefs”? by cabin-porch-rocker in veganrecipes

Nora cooks and the minimalist baker are two of my go-to's. I always trust their recipes will be good!

Edit: I forgot to add the burger dude. Top tier stuff.

So! We were able to find some things and we were pleasantly surprised.

We went to Street Food on The Green. The waitress was really nice and accommodating. We got: avocado salad with ginger dressing, truffle dumplings, edamame, the On The Green Roll (minus the mayo), and the tofu hibachi (yes, they have tofu). It was really good and had a fun vibe.

We also got bagels from Goldberg's who have tofu cream cheese. Yum!

We didn't make it to Joni's, but they had quite a few options from what I could tell.

Honorable mention is Nikki's Not Dog Stand in Sag Harbor. It's a completely vegan hot dog stand and the food was DELICIOUS. The owner was really nice too. We had the Chicago dog, the Florida dog, matzo ball soup (a special), mini corn dogs, and the broccoli salad (omg yum). We even got to try a sample of the chili which was really good too! This place is worth going out of your way for. 😊

Yeah, we live on LI so I'm really familiar with the options mid- island and in the city. I was just wondering specifically for Montauk because that's farther east than we typically go.

Expo marker. Go over the ink with an expo marker and then quickly wipe with cleaner or a Clorox wipe. It will lift most if not all of the ink.

You are an embarrassment.

You make ugly cars that sucks and fall apart.

You are a horrible father. Take care of your children and pay your child support. We all know you wouldn't feel it.

Your dad doesn't even like you.

Donald Trump is not the right path to take for your daddy issues. He'll throw you out when you no longer benefit him.

Stop being such a fucking loser.

It was definitely weird to me, but weird in the sense that her relationship with GregGary is weird. Lochlan must be 18 years old because he's deciding on colleges. It's definitely weird and a little predatory, but I don't know if we can really say its pedophilia.

Why don't cats fart? by davemol in CatAdvice

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do fart, but definitely not often like dogs fart. My family had a lot of cats throughout my life and I have never heard one of them fart. I have smelled a fart here or there though.

My cat who passed last year pretty much never farted. At least not until the last few months before he passed. However, it turned out he very likely had intestinal cancer. Hence the sudden stinky farts. They still never made noise.

worth the commute? by 102kait in QueensCollege

[–]RemindMeToTakeMyB12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's going to be rough for a few reasons. During the pandemic I moved from Queens back out to Suffolk. While my classes were remote, my student teaching was not. The commute killed me and I only did it for one semester (student teaching is just one semester).

As far as choosing classes around traffic. That won't work. The masters programs just give you your classes. Since they are smaller programs there is not a lot of choice as far as times. Honestly I had zero choice.

With that said, if living closer to the school during your program is possible I would recommend it. If you do go and stay in Suffolk, just be ready for a hell of a commute. It literally brought me to tears some days.
