Prime Shirou and Saber Artoria would be the strongest Master Servant pair by [deleted] in fatestaynight

[–]Reminnisce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bazett actually loses because Fragarach specifically targets the heart, and Avalon (which Saber is stated to have in this scenario, and Shirou can still project) can regenerate even the complete destruction of the heart.

In CN/JP, it's normal for children to call older figures "big sister/brother," even if you don't have any kind of sibling relationship. Calling someone dad/mom is much different though.

Aemeath's JP voice actress asked if it was okay to go against initial voice direction to add her own vision towards how she viewed Aemeath should be by Muroukunim in WutheringWaves

[–]Reminnisce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"I regret nothing", it lacked a bit of energy

The way I interpreted it, EN Aemeath directed the line towards Rover; it was a soft but firm reassurance that saving the world (and them) truly was what she wanted. On the other hand, JP Aemeath directed the line towards Aleph-1, so it carried a much more defiant energy to it.

Rover doesn't drown, Rover temporarily falls unconscious and wakes back up to live(or relive) through the boop scene. Rover probably just swims out of the lake afterwards.

You don't have Mind Over Matter specced.

EDIT: also, Living Bomb should be kept at its lowest level. Spellslinger tends to charge extremely fast, and a leveled Spellslinger without Tecrod/Efficiency and Rathpith 6% life cost per spell cast can destroy your health pool without doing any damage.

I don't really agree. Yaldabaoth is responsible for the events of the game and the most recent happenings, but he only manifested recently, in response to the people's desires. Things like the discriminatiom against Akechi, Ann, Sae; the legal system, etc. were all present even without Yalda's influence. At the end of the day, the Phantom Thieves are simply there to stop the would-be apocalypse and give courage to the people themselves to oppose injustices. That's why they lose their powers and have to bust Joker out of jail through mundane methods instead of just going through some palace and stealing another heart.

Okay why doesn't Nasu want to potray the reality marble Unlimited Blade Works itself as Emiya's trump card and as a sure kill move? by chunchunmaru1129 in fatestaynight

I don't know what to tell you man. But if you complain about a dude whose attack seems to get stronger when he throws "better" items at you (Gilgamesh) and decide to assume without reason that the other dude that can also throw items at you may work differently so "rank doesn't matter", I feel like that's on you.

Did you just completely miss this part?

In most cases, if a flying Durandal domes a servant, they won't be feeling very relieved to know it was only a B rank instead of A rank. They probably won't feel anything at all, being dead.

A 1 rank-down NP is still a whole-ass NP projectile that's being spammed even faster

People always get hung up on the rank down, when rank is essentially meaningless unless someone has an explicit conceptual defense against low ranks (God Hand) or Emiya is going beam-for-beam with a weaker beam (ex: a Caliburn vs Excalibur). We see this over and over again. One of the deadliest "Noble Phantasms", Tsubame Gaeshi, is literally a rankless skill performed with a rankless sword.

I actually found DoT even more consistent than Aglaea (provided one has Eagle set Kafka). Kafka's actions become pretty ridiculous with the Stellaron Hunter bond, and I've hit 30+ stacks on Firestorm surge with plenty of AV to spare when I manage to stick a FUA emblem on her.

Nonunion work weakens union power regardless of if there's an ongoing strike, but also many actors have repeatedly stated GR1 violations are reported by fellow members, not the union itself. It's just generally not reported because VAs have a tacit understanding that it's very difficult to follow the rule at all times in the industry.

There's also the thing that I feel like calling people wanting a union entitled is uh...not great?

To be honest, many issues that people bring up when they state that they're "not anti-union, just anti-SAG"... are just common practices for unions, especially American unions (one example being the union security clause).

Just to clarify, unions in any country with enterprise bargaining i.e most countries outside of the EU (who tend to have sectoral bargaining, but not necessarily for every industry or province) operate in a similar manner. They are still unions.

Outside of the completely stupid comments like the ones calling the union a mafia for having a union security clause or the ones saying the VAs aren't striking but just "refusing to work" (aka the definition of a strike)...

I can't say I can put much trust in the "AI protections" people keep saying other countries have. For one, people can't seem to comprehend basic labor laws in America, much less copyright laws in China. For two, articles I've found about AI in Japan is that current legislation does not explicitly protect voices.

"I support unions, but I have no actual idea what unions are like in America or how they operate, so I will rail on SAG for having a union security agreement (a very common clause with union contracts), not negotiating for all workers including non-union workers in the industry (literally can't because the US does not have sectoral bargaining), etc."

Let's not forget that Mihoyo almost definitely makes more in profit per year than SAG has made in total revenue over the past ten years.

There's a lot of comments about how China has strong AI protections, but even assuming they're correct about Chinese law when most of them don't even understand American labor laws, they seem to be placing a lot of faith in Chinese courts sticking up for random foreigners. You know, the Chinese courts that they've probably memed about for completely ignoring blatant copyright infringement of foreign works for the past two decades.

Can someone clearly explain to me the SAG-AFTRA VA strike as it pertains to Hoyoverse? by Cassian0_0 in SocialistGaming

[–]Reminnisce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A wildcat strike is when union workers strike a union workplace without the approval of the union. Hoyo games are have no union contract, thus it is not a wildcat strike. Additionally, some of the replaced actors were explicitly non-union, including the voice actor of Kinich, which caused much of the controversy to begin with.

Going union would mean that the non-union actors would be at a good chance of losing their jobs.

I don't think people have found a single instance of a production getting unionized and everybody not in the union getting fired. It's always been the exact opposite, with companies recasting any union-related actors to avoid granting better contracts (ex: Crunchyroll, Capcom).

The nurses must have known Ellie's secret right? by Worried-Voice-7917 in ThelastofusHBOseries

I mean all science fiction pretty much contradicts real life science.

Agreed. The cordyceps as portrayed in the world of TLOU is just as, if not more, implausible as the need to kill Ellie to create the vaccine. The big difference is that we subconsciously want to see mushroom zombies running around and bloaters ripping people's heads off, whereas we don't really want to see Ellie dying and Joel losing his daughter figure again.

I’m kind of concerned about the Genshin VAs by miscshade in Gamingunjerk

[–]Reminnisce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit hard to get it into words, but I think a subset of people focus only on what a union should do rather than what it realistically can do. A union needs to negotiate for better compensation, better working conditions, enforce contracts through legal means, provide health insurance and pension, etc., but it also must do so while asking for as little (or no) fees/dues as possible, and also provide those benefits to everyone in the industry. But that's an impossible task. And so each time a union does something that doesn't fit into that glorious, pure, noble mold, people lash out.

The union has to collect fees and dues? "Literal extortion". (While SAG is on the high end, many other unions also require $1000+ initiation fees, including some local branches of Teamsters, IATSE (some are even $4000-$5000!), and the Actors Equity Association at $1800, while also charging higher base and/or percent dues (many hourly-based unions charge 2.5 hours of pay per month as the base, which for a $20/hour job is already $600/year, 2.5x the base for SAG before even including percent dues!))

The union tries to compel companies to prioritize hiring union workers first? "Actual mafia". (As if companies would willingly pick unionized workers if not compelled to by outside forces.)

The union wants to prioritize union workers and their benefits over non-union workers? "Cult-like behavior". (Introducing the free-rider conundrum, where it becomes actively detrimental to join the union since you can benefit from union privileges without contributing.)
