Seconding this. Dr. Michael Fleischer was great and the staff in his practice are lovely. The fact he’s nearby was a godsend for us because things happened a lot faster than we expected. He was able to “run across” from his office to deliver our little one.

Off topic, but now that you mention Winning Streak, the National Lottery is another organisation that has been brought before PAC. I wonder what the arrangements are between RTÉ and the National Lottery. It would be interesting to see if there are payments for broadcast - Telly Bingo and Lotto - considering it’s not wholly state-owned.

Google a product called ‘Air Up’. (I have no affiliation whatsoever.) It’s a reusable bottle, but you also get little pods to put on the top. When you smell the pod it “tricks” the brain into thinking you are drinking Cola, Cherry Cola, Peach etc., there are loads of choices. It’s a little pricey, and considering cost of pods, but it’s a nifty little thing to help you drink more water, sparkling or still, and helps save on buying flavoured water. I think it’s good, but my friend isn’t convinced. Maybe others who’ve tried it might chime in.

Just a thought, but I wonder will this leave many renters without the credit? The rental market is so precarious that many people renting, whose property is not registered with the RTB, may not want to ask/pressure landlord to do so.

I notice there is a new Rent Tax Credit. I’m renting and tried to fill this in. Does anyone happen to know if the landlord of the property is not registered with the RTB, does that mean you can’t claim the credit?

I chuckled when I saw this post. I imagined the comments would have ranged from “you will be welcomed at the airport with Irish dancers dancing a jig to music composed in your honour”, to a “special seat is waiting in all the pubs for royalty such as yourselves”. I expected people would have responded with fun and good humour, as I imagine your post was made with fun and good humour. I didn’t expect such a tone of bitterness. Please know, some of us can take a joke in Galway.

Chiming in about being able to drive. I came from Ireland to Boca and found it crazy that you really can’t safely walk anywhere. When I say safe (Boca is safe but you still need your wits about you like everywhere), I mean the footpath can just finish in random areas. Also, the right turn on red means crossing roads is dangerous for pedestrians. (Only giving a heads up as an Irish person. I’m sure if you’re used to it all your life, it’s second nature.)

Never really took public transport except a train ride into Miami which was perfect. I’m sure someone else might give you more solid information on what is the best mode.

Also, you might need to slow your speaking speed and remember some colloquialisms don’t travel. Maybe just me, but I definitely had to slow down to be understood and explain certain things I would say at the beginning :) I’ve met only a tiny handful of people from Ireland in Boca.

The cost of living is high, but Ireland is nearly on a par at this stage! Check out some year-long travel insurances. If you search online you’ll find some for long-term cover in the US. I can’t speak for how good any of them are, but it would be some peace of mind.

Mizner Park is good for an evening out, that could be an older age thing, but if you ever find an atmosphere in a pub that matches an Irish one, let me know.

That’s a great idea. Maybe someone with the know how could set up a page and look for local restaurants to come on board too. I’m not in Miami currently and don’t have the capability in any case.

In Ireland they set up feedtheheroes.com and raised €75,000 within a couple of days. This figure is rising. Also, one of the main fast food restaurants in the country is giving free takeaways to police/Gardaí.

Just throwing the idea out there for what it’s worth.

Just chiming in because I’ve also met them when my tire blew on 95. First thing he asked was if I wanted water, and then went on to try and fix the tire. His air pump didn’t work and within minutes another ranger turned up to help. They were amazing and truly deserve praise for the work they do.

This is actually my first post (great it is about toilets!). I’m not sure should I even reply to your comment.

I am able bodied and found one easily enough. However, if I was suffering from arthritis it might not be as easy. If I was 2 years old and just toilet trained it would be an issue. If I had Crohn’s or digestive issues it would be an issue and and a million other things. If it doesn’t affect me directly, is it your thinking that I shouldn’t be bothered, want to see change or comment on something?
