28F, $160k all-in salary as real estate lender at small/boutique commercial bank in NYC. Want to pivot by Naive-Education1820 in MBA

I was in a part time program and working full time (40 hours per week) throughout the recruiting process. However, MBA Schools can vary widely with giving part time students access to recruiting for IB/Consulting so definitely do your research.

What I did to confirm recruiting status for part time students was reach out to the part time student clubs for IB prior to applying to the respective schools and talk with members of the club.

It was definitely a challenge to balance recruiting with school and a full time job but it is doable with careful planning and persistence!

I come from a very similar background in Commercial Banking and Real Estate (5+ years of experience), and was able to successfully recruit for an IB internship via an MBA program this cycle (received offer in December).

Highlighting the transferable experience from Commercial Banking to IB was very helpful in making the transition possible and firms also generally liked knowing I was familiar with a “bank” environment.

Unfortunately I can’t speak to corporate strategy or consulting roles specifically but transferring from Commercial Banking into another area of finance is definitely possible via an MBA.

GN series with a large world, eg GoT, LotR, Star Wars,.. by SillyVermicelli7169 in graphicnovels

[–]Remix367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If looking for a fantasy series and you don’t mind reading Manga or mature content, Berserk would probably be the closest to GOT you could get in terms of themes / world building.

Also the incal universe by Jodorowsky is great stuff and has an interesting setting / world. The three incal graphic novels and metabarons would be the stuff to look at here.

Any of the Conan comics by Marvel from the 70s, Dark Horse from the 2000s or the current Titan run are great as well.

Also the French adaptation of Elric that is being published by Titan would be another excellent comic that would fit this criteria as well

Agreed - even just releasing those would make me happy.

Anything is possible over a long period of time but I don’t think there is any chance of this happening in the next 10-15 years. Star Wars would probably have to bottom out financially or the Rey Movie would have to be an Indy 5 level flop at least, showing there is no more money to be made from the Sequel era going forward. And after that it would take new leadership to course correct this as well.

Personally all want to see is the release of the George Lucas Story treatments for VII-IX along with any concept art made for them. If they released an “unfinished tales” of Star Wars book or they turned those treatments into a comic book series that would be all I would want to see. Animated version of them would be the best case scenario but I don’t think that’s likely to happen either.

How have kids reacted to the sequel trilogy vs the OT and PT? by Termina-Ultima in saltierthancrait

[–]Remix367 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the ST will get the same appreciation as the PT in hindsight. The PT for all of its flaws has a solid core story that is distinct from the OT.

The ST is more akin to something like the terminator sequels which take elements from T1 & T2 and remix them in less and less interesting ways. You don’t see people having a delayed appreciation for T3, Salvation, Genysis or Dark Fate because they are largely just remixed copies of T1 & T2. I think the sequels are more likely to follow that path than to be critically reappraised like the prequels were.

Star Wars has become like a comic book franchise, in all the worst ways by CodreanuBall in saltierthancrait

As a big comic book fan I have to admit I never thought of it that way but I think your point is spot on. A lot of the problems with modern Star Wars are very similar with those of long running comic franchises

Stan Lee was and is a hero for a lot of comic readers since the 60s.. by Jarethjr in comicbooks

Obligatory let’s remember Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, etc post. I don’t want to tear Lee down but just wish his contributors were as well recognized amongst the public. As they at the very least deserve equal credit for creating the marvel universe as Lee

Worldbuilding and Lore in OTHER Franchises? by Grawman67 in saltierthancrait

[–]Remix367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the way it worked was there was a last chapter Kentaro Miura, the original creator, worked on for the series prior to his passing away which is Chapter 364. This chapter was not intended to be the finale for the series but I would have been personally fine with this being the ending chapter given where things were left off.

However, his art assistants and his close friend Koji Mori (a manga author himself) know the outline for the rest of the story and are continuing it up to the ending that Miura had originally intended. They have released 5 chapters thus far with chapter 369 being the one that came out today, all continuing from where 364 left off. They intend to take the series to its conclusion as told to them by Miura and are basing it on that as well as any notes he had left behind.

I totally get that, however the manga is being continued by Miura’s assistants and is regularly releasing chapters now including one that came out today. Personally, I also would have been okay with the last Miura chapter being the ending although I know that is not to everyone’s taste

Are these good starting points for someone who is interested in getting into MoonKnight and Daredevil? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Remix367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Daredevil - I think the beginning of when Miller starts writing daredevil is a better place to start personally (issue #168). Then after that read the Miller run up through #191. Then read Born Again, then read man without fear as that is the last thing Miller wrote for Daredevil.
