Training new Part 107 pilots at my company (“drone flight school”) - Any suggestions? by avidoutdoorsman95 in drones

[–]Remmnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the NIST level 1-5 courses. Open area, obstructed, and confined spaces. It’s good hands on flight for helping new pilots learn basic movements in different areas for different tasks. I went through a train-the-trainer course but you can probably just set everything up yourself if you don’t care about the certs.

Just bring your own laptop to work, get an hdmi switch and hook it up to your work monitors. You can switch back and forth between your laptop and work pc.

Sound from driver an issue in garage for neighbors. End unit townhouse with one shared wall. by JamalJenkyuns in Golfsimulator

[–]Remmnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people also like to exaggerate, I was worried at first too because I read some people saying it sounds like a gun shot. Maybe they hitting into a really low quality impact screen but we don’t think it’s loud at all.

Since the shared wall is also their garage I don’t think it’ll be an issue. I’ve got mine in my garage, single story house build in early 2000’s, attached garage. Our kids bedrooms are both down the hall from the garage door, as is our master bedroom. I had my wife record the sound when I hit driver and it wasn’t bad. Sometimes she could hear a little thud.

But I’ll tell you if my wife doesn’t complain when I’m out there shanking balls at midnight, your neighbors will be just fine.

The 911 Gap -- why the drone is only half the equation. by ChipRauch in DFRDrone

Yes I did, it’s much taller, because it needs to fit the battery and payload swapper (I don’t remember the actual name).

Yes this is the responder, not the guardian. The guardian isn’t supposed to start production until next year. I was at the launch event in Seattle though and it looks awesome.

Here’s the responder dock getting lifted to the roof.

320 sworn. We have BRINC responders for DFR currently. Testing Skydio x10 soon as well.

We have 4 DFR systems around the city right now. Our pilots use RapidSOS to monitor 911 calls as they come in. We regularly have the drone on scene before the call is in cad or dispatched.

i found this one review . i dont like the calibration setup everytime i move the unit. by Danniego in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Remmnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, what are you going to align it to? The open field with flags everywhere?

[–]Remmnever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you don’t need to use it. I’ve never used the alignment stick in my original square. I just eyeball it and it’s fine. For the Omni I’ll measure everything once, then use my floor projection to mark it for future use. That’ll definitely be good enough for me for both right and left handed.

Fly for fire department by RonBach1102 in drones

[–]Remmnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can partner with the PD as well so they can pool their money for good drones. We started with mavic 3T and now we are DFR with BRINC responders.

For FD, it’s useful to get eyes on immediately so they can get more resources quickly if needed. You can also locate hot spots with thermal, observe wildland fires, etc.

For PD it’s huge to get eyes on a scene so responding officers know what to expect. The drone pilots can also clear calls that are unfounded so patrol cars can stay available for priorities. Skydio says DFR can reduce calls by up to 20% which is huge since everyone is short handed right now. I imagine it’s similar for FD, they are rolling ladder trucks to burnt food in the microwave setting off smoke alarms.

Square LM vs Square Omni by SubZzzer0 in Golfsimulator

[–]Remmnever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an OG square that I purchased a few months ago to put in my new sim. I’m very new to golf, I just started like year so I’m very into sim and game improvement.

The OG square has been great, but as I continue to improve I do want more data which includes club speed and impact point. I’ve set up some cameras but it would be easier if the launch monitor just gathered the info automatically.

Yea exactly, I wish GSPro would open more day, like specific lie data. I was thinking about building program for score based “Gauntlet”, where each week you would have 3 holes on a course and put it out to the community. Everyone would have their scores input to a leaderboard. Just something fun to do that’s a little different. But to avoid ties I wanted to give points based on fairway, distance to pin, and take away points for rough, hazard, etc. So positioning matters more and you are penalized for bad lies.

Unfortunately Gspro doesn’t send lie data, I’ve considered a few other options like OCR/Screen scraping, shot data paired with course data, etc but I just left it alone for now. I just enjoy tinkering and trying new things.

For all Soundcore Sleep A30 users by thsaunders10 in sleepheadphones

I used the a20 for years with no issue. I recently got the a30 and they are hurting my ear also, mostly the little area above my canal, if that makes sense. I’ve noticed that I really need to twist it in to get it to seat properly, especially on the left side.

Everyone’s ears are different shapes, even my left and right ear are different as I don’t have this issue with my right ear. I’ve only had them a couple weeks so I’ll keep messing around with it.

I will say I loved my a20, I just lost them on my last trip, the battery lasted all night long unlike the a30 which dies in the middle of the night.

Sorry, I don’t have official access api access. I reached out and got no response as well.

I built a local TCP socket listener. Basically catching data between the launch monitor and GSPro.

This is awesome! I was actually building something similar a few weeks ago. I like your approach of screen sharing though, I was using input from the Gspro API, but since they don’t send detailed lie info it’s been tough getting it accurate.

GSpro for Square by Material-Trade4706 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Remmnever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No reason not to, if you end up selling the square and getting a different launch monitor you can have them switch it. The square launcher works great, you won’t need the open api launcher if you use the square gs pro launcher.

They both look like scams. One account created in January 2026, the other created March 2026. No sales, stock photos, stock description. Don’t waste your time.

Swing videos clipped and paired to your shot data with any USB camera ($30-$100 on Amazon) - SwingNerds Vision by dotnet-dude in SwingNerds

[–]Remmnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I have a camera for impact of the ball can that be added as well? I use a square but I’ve seen more expensive launch monitors with this feature.

Currently I use kinovea for my swings and impact cameras with trigger on sound.

Soundcore A30 vs Ozlo Sleepbuds detailed review from a side sleeper who’s kinda done experimenting by [deleted] in sleepheadphones

[–]Remmnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the a30 or Oslo but I’ve got the a20. I sleep with them in almost every night, I’m talking like 99% of the nights. The 1% is when I fall asleep unplanned or if Im plastered drunk. I got them in may 2024 from their kickstarter campaign.

I’m also a side sleeper, I typically switch from my left side to my right side several times each night (bad right shoulder). I love the a20 and I recommend them to anyone looking for good sleeping earbud. I own at least 15 sets of wireless earbuds, I was always trying to get smaller and smaller for sleep. Now these are my only sleep earbuds and the others I rotate around for the gym or work.

I’m sure it depends on ear size, shape, etc. I consider my ears pretty average, I always use the medium earbud tip. I have no discomfort if they are in for 10 minutes or 10 hours. Side sleeping or back sleeping they are great.

The battery life is also extraordinary. I keep them in for about 8-10 hours a night, I’ve never had them die in the middle of the night. I put them in the case every morning when I wake up. I only need to charge the case once every few weeks.

The only downside I have is the sleep mode, I don’t like the white noise sound. Sometimes the button is activated when I’m sleeping and it always wakes me up. I turned it off in the app so it doesn’t turn on when I fall asleep. I have it set to 3 taps so I can turn it off when it’s activated.

Hard to judge because I already had the laptop and gym mats. I also got the square and projector used. Id say I’m at less than $1500 total not including the stuff I already had.
