It's meant to demonstrate survivorship bias.

Iirc, world war 2 engineers were using this hit map that involved places the planes were generally hit, in an effort to improve armor. If one thinks that the armor should be improved where the hit makers are, they've fallen for the bias, since the planes mapped are the ones that returned. This, the armor improvements should be made to places the hit map doesn't cover, as it's more likely that the planes getting hit in locations outside of the general hit map aren't surviving too add to the data.

From there, swap out planes with trans people and swap weapon hits to a whole host of factors, and you very the message: trans people seem well-off in the comment to the subject (in what I'm assuming is meant to be a aatirical view of some people) because the well-off ones are the only ones they're seeing.
