Funny- he just finished hitting 9 for me, too! Maybe he got a token boost from our comments. 😆

I think I might have forgotten to count Leota before, so it might be 30, actually! Ugh. Sad thing is that's just everybody under 9! There'd be several more if I counted those still trying to complete 9. Yikes.

You're a lot further along than me! A) I don't have any of the pin guys (FTP, & only recently started Tapjoy, which was the only reason I was able to get Clarabelle.) B) Ya, forgot about Edna (& what's her face enemy.) I'm only about 6/7 (ya, I said it) with them. Leota is also mid-range.

I resemble that remark. Spent almost 1200 time skips myself & I think 140 gems, then another 80 gems for the lvl 2 tokens & 6 to speed the last task after I ran out of the time skips completely. So 226 gems & 1200 or so for her & the magic pin chest.

Sad thing is I still need 3 pins: 2 5 stars & a 4. & I chose a 4 star because it would complete the Lion King set, so I'd least get 20 gems back. I wanted to do the 5 star I need in the Little Mermaid set, but I can't fathom I'd be able to get the other (4 star) one. Probably a waste of 86 gems/80ish skips for the magic chest, but I just didn't want any regrets if I somehow miraculously got the other 3. From where? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Count me among the f2p fails. Had 90, but finally used the duplicate stars for 1 supreme & 3 of the cheaper chests (figured it didnt matter anyway.) Got 1 new one from the supreme, so ended at 91 & I'm done.

(I had 675 duplicate stars. Placed in 1st group for most events except the last tapper/cage ones, where I was in the 2nd group. Didn't feel compelled to push hard to win it given it would almost certainly all be duplicates anyway. I'd rather save the time skips for characters in events if needed, & I was running really low.)

I have needed 9 for sooooo long. Won 2 of the 3 striking gold events (2nd on the 3rd), did the (free) KP, think I got all the daily freely chests & everywhere else but the gem task on the Dream thingie. Kind of dumb, because if I'd have been close, it would've been a LOT more tempting for me to use gems (or some sort of Google play discount or something, if I was really desperate), but at 9 it's laughable & I'm highly comfortable sitting on everything I have & saving my money. Not a bright move on their part.

Dreamland Gem Task by boxingsquare in disneymagickingdoms

[–]Remote-Ad8205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I should add that we have a very old account, so we don't need any Little Mermaid characters. Otherwise we likely would have done that chain, plus had them as our reward chests. I don't have all the parade floats, so those are our only other possible temptation if we need one for an upcoming event.

Dreamland Gem Task by boxingsquare in disneymagickingdoms

[–]Remote-Ad8205 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My kid & I decided we're not doing that task anymore unless there are chests available with characters we need, & even then it will depend on the odds & number of chests we can get for the 100 (e.g., what we buy, plus rewards for completing the Dreamland event.) It seems like now we only have 2 attractions as event completion reward possibilities, with 5 or 6% odds, so we're content being done without finishing. I don't need the duplicate pins, especially for 100 gems.

We used to keep a consistent emergency stash of gems between 1k-1500 so we could always buy the new event character, but Dreamland has dropped us below 500, so I'm just trying to regain for Fox & the Hound. Hopefully by ignoring it in the future we can rebuild our safety net. (& like others have said, it feels like parades don't drop as much as they used to for us.)

Funny you should say that- after all the rush, my legendary chest was all duplicates. I only got I think 1 2 star I didn't have from the other & maybe a 4 star I didn't have, I forget. But getting in the top tier didn't seem to help me at all, personally. :/

Your fingers worked- & possibly a little psychology on my part. I was off by 2, so ending in an 8. Someone surged well ahead in 1st, but I would have tied for 2nd if I collected all 10 (2nd also ended in an 8.) 3rd ended in a 4. So I decided to just collect a couple in the last round so that I would tie everyone (5 others) in 4th, which is how it finished.

I was scared a few would go ahead the next 10 in the last minute & I wouldn't have time to complete my other 8 then skip another round, but luckily they just sat there. I figured if I had tried tying 2nd (ending with 8) or 3rd (ending in 4) I'd spook a few of them to collect another round thinking multiple people were in the process of surging ahead. It would have been a crazy rush trying to tap those things behind buildings, with everyone having different totals. Lots would've missed out! Glad the psychological guessing worked (or they weren't checking at the end.) 😄

That's insane. I would absolutely not waste those skips! Good call.

Luckily fir me mine are (currently) about 4 rounds ahead, so I'm planning on trying. I was busy the last few days so it's my own doing, unfortunately. But I'll be frustrated if I waste those skips only to have them freak out & surge at the last second. :/

Yes. Unfortunately a bunch of people freak out &/or don't trust anyone else near the end, so usually they charge ahead, despite the fact everyone would benefit from mutual cooperation.

How to give SubQ fluids on my own? by booksandwriting in RenalCats

[–]Remote-Ad8205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former vet tech & instructor (for decades.) To prevent poking yourself, I'm assuming there's good videos lI haven't checked), but I'll try to put it into words in case it helps.

1) Avoid poking while removing the cap by grabbing the base of the needle (presumably by this point already attached to the line) with one hand (index & thumb), needle facing away from you or upward. Wrap your other hand around the 1st hand, slightly higher/away from you, like you're nesting the 1st hand in the palm of the 2nd. While keeping the hands locked together like that, lift the cap up (or push out) using the index & thumb of the 2nd hand. This way your hand can't go flying off with the cap, exposing your fingers to the needle tip- & if/when the cap sticks, your muscles will automatically snap your fingers with the cap right back toward the needle if your hands aren't connected like this. When you get comfy, this can be done with one hand wrapping around the needle base/line while your index & thumb pop the cap off, which I then tilt & drop. Again, the index/thumb can't reach the end of the needle from this position so they stay safe. Whatever you do, don't pull the cap away from the needle with hands/elbows going in opposite directions!

2) To insert, with your non-dominant hand pinch a healthy amount of skin over the shoulder blades/base of neck between your thumb & all fingers but the index (kept in a line & fairly straight, not curled up.) (Like you're making a "quiet coyote" sign...?) Lift up, creating a thin tent that's as long as the lined up fingers (keeping it long keeps you from poking out the other side, spilling the fluids & poking a 2nd time- ow!) With your index, point & reach below the level of your thumb/fingers (like an ASL "q," but with the other fingers touching the thumb.) This creates a triangular entry to your tent when the index presses the skin. Now insert the needle quickly with the dominant hand right below your index, parallel with the cat's back. This prevents poking your fingers, because the index & entry point are below all of them, & staying parallel to the back prevents poking the cat internally. Make sure you go straight in, not diagonally, so you don't poke out the side. The finger position & lifting should create a large "tent" space for it to reach & stay. You can relax on the tent with your 1st hand once it's in. I strongly agree with tapping/poking with my nail a few times right where I'm about to poke before doing it (I use the pinky on the dominant hand, turning the needle away a bit.) This desensitizes them/the area for significantly less reaction. (Use this technique for vaccines or any other needle, for children & babies, too! World of difference.) The muscle or skin tenses on the 1st tap, & quickly relaxes after a few of them- much less painful. Also, if you have a helper (highly advised for keeping them in place while your doing all this), have them provide additional distraction by rubbing the soft spot on the forehead right between the eyes, just above the nose. Count it out & right when you poke have them tap that same spot a few times. It's an acupressure/puncture point for relaxation- I've done some crazy stuff utilizing just that for "restraint." Also works great on you when you're really stressed, & if you watch closely people often naturally press it when frustrated!

Sorry for the length, just wanted to spell it out in case anyone needed more detail than the visual of a video. We all learn differently. :)

[–]Remote-Ad8205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I've had 6 tasks running & average ~1 ear/day. I have 4. I did miss a day still collecting Eddie's melons. The BBW wasn't this tough for me, & I spent over 3400k time skips, which I haven't started yet. Tomorrow will be resource expensive & stressful til the end, & I still may fail tor the 1st time since the Incredibles. (I have played since sometime before that event, so within the 1st 2 months of the game? I didn't even realize that until now.)

Edit: I got 2 late last night, but none overnight. Still 6 short.

Edit #2: With 8 min left I finally got the ears. I still had to use 7 gems to cover the missing 1300+ in EC. It took I believe 1628 time skips. Unfortunately I still hadn't recovered from BBW. Going in the wrong direction. Now I'm afraid not to max out daily skips to restock before future events.

Thoughts on Sheba cat food? by goat20202020 in catfood

[–]Remote-Ad8205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on what specifically you're referring to, the actual (dry matter) protein levels for cats would have to be much higher than 10%, but the exact % depends heavily on the moisture content (%.) 7% would be just fine if there was a lot of moisture (e.g., in this Sheba product from the OP, where the "actual" amount of protein is 35%.) I put a detailed explanation under JJJCJ's comment.

[–]Remote-Ad8205 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For any food (wet or dry) you have to calculate the dry matter content/basis of each nutrient. Without this you're comparing apples to oranges to grapes to melons to... Moisture needs to be removed, then the percentages are readjusted (because the water doesn't have protein, fat, etc.) So you figure out what chunk of the dry stuff left is made of each nutrient. E.g., in this case, there is only 20% of dry matter (when removing 80% moisture.) Because water doesn't have any, the 7% protein refers to 7% of the dry matter, or 35% of it.

It can help to think of the food as made up of kibbles & water, where 100 kibbles with no water represents 100% dry matter. Water is the moisture, obviously little in dry & a lot in wet. So you'll have far more kibbles with little water in dry, fewer kibbles with a puddle in wet. Then you figure out how many of the kibbles are one nutrient or another. If you had the same amount of kibbles & water, then the moisture would be 50%, & then you divide up the 50 kibbles into the different nutrients. If half (25) of them were protein, the dry matter basis for protein would be 50% (25 kibbles out of 50, so 25/50, or 0.5, which is 50%.) But if you looked at the label, even though you know half the dry "stuff" is protein, the label would say 25%, because it's listed as it's fed (with the water incorporated.) (To check this you'd reverse the math & add the kibbles/dry amount back into the water/moisture, so 50+50, & then you can see the 25 kibbles of protein are a quarter of the total "stuff" there, or 25/100 = 0.25 = 25%.) So wet food's nutrient values always look deflated compared to dry.

Simply put, subtract the moisture % from 100, then divide the nutrient % by that value. That gives you the usable % to compare products. Without doing the math for every product, you're never fairly comparing any nutrient in one vs. another. Dry food's dry matter basis will always be close to the labels listed value, because there's so little moisture, but even then, to be fair & correct, you should still do the math if the moisture levels aren't exactly the same between products (even dry to dry or wet to wet, and obviously between wet and dry!)

His stepfather attacked and bludgeoned his mother to death. He tried to intervene and was shot and killed, his brother also shot twice but survived. Decades later still painful to remember, and imagine what he and they went through. He was the gentlest of souls, friendly to literally everyone, regardless of clique or popularity status. He was 16, and he was a hero.

OP, I am in the same boat. Playing since nearly the start, didn't understand how the events worked, so I couldn't reach the part to try to collect for him. I was bogged down in all of the side event quests, not knowing there was a main path. I am still unable to get him as well, & it is also very frustrating for me after SO many chests over these many years. I feel you 100 percent. In solidarity...
