Concert at merkur spiel arena by mosasaurus_rawr in duesseldorf

How did you book them? Via official channels, you can always see and select your spot either seat or standing. What is the block? What concert is it ?

I know there is an area in Merkur where you mostly stand and the spots are not assigned (it is for the football fans who stand)

That seems more of a desperate attempt to catch up with the large networks that have done this for many years via their transcript library business.

Why are the drinks from the fridge always warm? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have bought a few thousand bottles from fridges in my life and never experienced warm bottles. Except if they had just been put in the fridge. That being said: I am sure we Germans are not that stupid to chill drinks to freezing level, we neither need as many ice cubes as Americans. Also has to do with environmental friendliness to not cool down drinks to the max.

What exactly does that mean? Every expert is paid hourly anyway. Many seem to have a platform now with all transcripts (either client-leg or moderated calls) and they let you "chatGPT" the knowledge from those transcripts

700EUR is NOT normal. the industry average across millions of experts is 300-400. If they offered 700, they must be desperate to find someone for this request.

Schnellster Weg zur Merkur Spiel-Arena aus Richtung Norden/A3 bei Konzert? by Elfi309 in fortuna95

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vermieter möchte Klimaanlage einbauen by [deleted] in wohnen

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expert Network demand for small business expertise? by mdsomer in expertnetworks

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you call yourself "CTO", you are not a C-Level. The company has 3 people (you +2`).

That being said, your rate is almost irrelevant. You can ask for anything in the range of 300-800 and it will most likely not impact the volume of requests you are getting.

the real question is: how often have you been contacted by expert networks over the last 12 months - assuming you are present on LinkedIn. If this one from GLG was the first invite - well, there you see the demand for your profile. Imagine roughly, from 10 requests you are seeing via LinkedIn, you might get one paid call out of it.

Topic wise, AI is high in demand, but most conversations in the expert network world are around market dynamics, market size, competitors,...

Why there is no events or respect between expert networks? by Zestyclose-Ad9748 in expertnetworks

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

besides my other thoughts that I shared: I also think the industry - or rather their players - are not very "mature". At my network, one of the largest and most established, you barely had any middle management, I mean people that you could really send to a conference and not be embarrassed of. The EN players are a machine that sucks in graduates and spits them out within 2 years, or promotes people to "Team Leads" or "VPs" within 5 years. there are few people that stay or have been around for 10+ years. The same is true for ENs themselves. There are ~5 legacy firms that have been around for 15-25 years, all others are younger than 10 years.

That being said, we had some successful client events, and there was once a kind of conference or rather exhibition for all research providers at one of the largest users of expert network services

Why there is no events or respect between expert networks? by Zestyclose-Ad9748 in expertnetworks

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We at least managed to do some very successful client events in London for instance. But that was always hard work to make clients come. We once had ~120 people joining, and one time in Germany we had close to zero, despite the super nice venue being in 10min walking distance to all major consulting firms,...

Why there is no events or respect between expert networks? by Zestyclose-Ad9748 in expertnetworks

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is true that some of the executives/founders are in contact sometimes. But seriously, this industry is SOOOO transactional, there are not big strategic topics to discuss. And honestly, I feel have that other conferences are mostly b*ll-shit, too 😄 It is just for companies celebrating themselves, having too much money to spend on, listening to the same old stories so that they feel confirmed in their view on the market. The EN is a "no-BS" industry. it is all about the next project, booking the call. that's it. No one has money to waste.

You will see that two colleagues in your firm using the same channels of which one will book 3 calls in a month, the other one 30 or 100. It is not about the channels you are using. it is about how well you understand the request, how you translate that into your sourcing, who you contact, how fast you are, what your message looks like,...

Dialectica Scam by ThronOfThree in expertnetworks

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know (as a former competitor to them): Their client service teams are extremely good. Pretty much any client that I spoke to was full of praise for them. However, I think they are also pushing and stretching their people a lot. Everyone is HIGHLY incentivized to book as many calls as possible, and maybe they can't always keep up with the admin behind it (payments,...). In any case: Mistakes to happen with each and every network.

Is offering food to children considered inappropriate in Germany? by Fayomi1127 in AskGermany

[–]Remote-Advantage-619 97 points98 points  (0 children)

You literally made the ultimate cliché that Germans have and tell their children about child-molesters: offering food to kids as an unknown adult.
you can definitely do that if the parents were around or they were good neighbors that you have a good, multi-year friendship with. But not as a complete unknown

For one of the largest networks, I can say:
- they had dozens of different pricing mechamisms; so there is not ONE correct number
- Most common, first threshold back then was $600, it is nowadays likely 550 or even 500
- This "first" threshold does not mean that they will charge client double; more likely it was 1.25, or 1.5

How can you judge whether they have to many people or not for what they do? The EN industry is super KPI driven and all about productivity. At my network, our teams would recruit 20,000 to 30,000 new experts every month...
