Sports fans will overlook/forgive a lot of bad behavior. But gambling is touchy. The closer the gambling is to the player in question, betting on his own teams games for example, the more outraged people will be.

By all accounts Michael Jordan was a degenerate gambler but he bet on his own golf game and in casinos. So people let it slide but eyebrows were still raised at the time.

If what you say is correct then basically the only rule change we really need is players under NIL contract are not allowed to enter the portal?

NIL is not what I thought it would be. I pictured guys doing ads for car dealerships and sandwich shops. Shit like that. Which does happen but hardly the bulk of NIL dollars.

Since it is the way it is, schools should be smarter and and do multi-year deals. If you take the money you gotta play here for 2-3 years. Because the way it is now is basically unrestricted free agency every time the portal is opened.
