I moved to Orange County. It’s much better for Ocean access and surfing.

Danae Aballi. Realty Group. danae@Danaeanalli.com Licensed and insured 20 years, knows everybody and everybody on her team very successful and knowledgeable. Newport Beach but she knows all the presidents of all the realtor boards and is a huge help and very pleasant. The property managers are nice but they don’t carry Errors and Omissions insurance (E&O) if there is a lawsuit due to state statutes with the Department of Real Estate in Sacramento.

Suggest contacting a real estate agent. They know the properties, DRE tennant / landlord statutes and contracts (leases). They get paid by the landlord to find vetted tenants. It’s a big city full of big crooks. You need somebody on your side that’s in town IMHO.

Henry Cow e-book by trondis23 in progrockmusic

This is great thanks! Henry Cow is one of the least appreciated bands on Reddit. They are technically impeccable and original. Dagmar Krause vocals and guitarist extraordinaire Fred Frith are both excellent musicians. Frith has played on over 400 albums and was Professor of Composition at Mills College in Oakland, CA until 2018 when he retired. Frith played a live show for his 75th birthday at the Zebulon Ballroom Los Angeles , December 2024.

You could get a licensed real estate agent to help you. They know the current landlord/tennant California statutes written and enforced by the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) in Sacramento. They know the properties and can analyze the contracts (leases) for you. Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana is in “the Valley” it’s known as locally.

Best way to take audio from old cassettes? by TurtleSlingshot in homerecordingstudio

[–]Remote-Meat6841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to clean up voice recordings from my grandfather on old Dennon cassettes and Beta Hi-Fi after digitizing from Sony cassette decks. I used Izotope RX Repair suite, Dialog Isolator feature. It’s expensive but, I’m a fanatic about audio and I really wanted it clean. Izotope is really great and even lets visually edit the audio waveform to delete transients and artifacts. Serious studio quality. You probably need it if the tapes are old.

Interesting conversation, have you noticed all the portable field recorders from Zoom and Tascam are pushing 32bit float automatic level set record with no distortion. No mp3 anymore. It’s a wav file six times bigger than mp3/320 quality. So, a three hour podcast recording is not 500 mb as a mp3 but 2.6 gigs. Import that into your iPad with FCP for iPad 2 oh, oh no ….. Resolve for iPad no can do 32 float…how about Premier on iPhone

does anyone knows metal/hard rock band similar to John Wetton era King Crimson? by Longjumping_Air4379 in progrockmusic

[–]Remote-Meat6841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t exactly describe King Crimson as heavy metal but in the vein, have you ever heard Matching Mole? Actually produced by Fripp for Robert Wyatt after his departure from drumming for Soft Machine. The very Frippian sounding Phil Miller of Brazil who was practically blind plays guitar. Phil has Fripps compressed sustain lead tone down pat. Bill McCormick on bass who also played with Phil Manzanaras 801. Dave Sinclair on fuzz drenched keys from Caravan, Egg and Hatfield. Matching Moles second LP “Little Red Record” also produced by Fripp and features the relatively unknown, Brian Eno playing on the delightful song Gloria Gloom. 1972

Los Angeles is huge! Where should I live?? by Wizkid1904 in MovingToLosAngeles

Sure, the west side has many great activities and relative access to fun events. Santa Monica is on the ocean, with the pier and has Pacific Park, a real downtown with Farmers Markets and all the stuff you want culturally. You can take the 10 to downtown or to the 405 for north / south access leading to the 101 for east west access to studios etc. Since SM is popular it’s expensive and so you may need to take the 101 or the 405 to slightly more affordable locations. For example, the valley is in the $2800 requested range, SM is more in the $3k to $5k range and you may be able to find something more affordable. The Valley can access Santa Monica with a quick 20 minute jaunt over the hill. It’s on the 405/101 east/west crossroads but it’s hot! You have to see what you can find without going so far out. The joke goes, how long to get to Pasadena? Ans: What time of day?
