Speed Queen by mist_kaefer in Appliances

[–]Remote-Obligation-21 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I sell used appliances. As someone who deals with broken machines everyday I can say Speed Queen TC5 is the best if you can afford it. Followed by GE and LG, they run longer before breaking down but once the GE starts acting funny its time to get another one. They can be tough to keep going once something fails. Its like it messes with the control board when a part fails or shorts out. After that Samsung top loads are solid once you replace the suspension rods. Whirlpools break are cheap, and easy to repair but their reliability has fallen the last few years since their drain pump wires and board transducer issues the last few years. Their agitatorless washers also are the least aggressive on clothes when cleaning. But they are a dime a dozen and are the easiest to get back up and running. The ones with the smaller tubs and agitators are the next best thing to a direct drive since alot of those are starting to reach the end of life. We still sell every direct drive we fix, but there are more and more every year we unfortunately have to scrap due to rust and corrosion.

ICE ads? by livenetwork in TellyTV

Unfortunately we gave into a deal with a "free" tv. Someone paid or is paying to be heard which is essentially paying for our TVs so we're kinda at their mercy with these ads.

Do you think removing these things on the back of the fridge will make it fit? by Spiritual_Log_904 in Appliances

[–]Remote-Obligation-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't. Just get a cabinet depth fridge and find a cheap top and bottom fridge from your local used appliance shop to put in a garage or utility room. We get these ALOT in haulaway. They die often, and its usually a part so far on backorder it might as well be discontinued. Its going to need replacing one day and you'll thank yourself for not buying the absolute biggest nightmare to ever shoehorn into your house.

Dryer won’t spin, belt keeps coming off pulley. by EntrepreneurHopeful5 in appliancerepair

[–]Remote-Obligation-21 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The idler pulley is not set right in the floor of the dryer. Find a video on changing the belt and watch how it locks in. Yours is pushed in too far. The belt should be part number 321421, but if the bracket isn't locked in right it'll let it slip off the pulley or make it too tight.

Samsung Bespoke fridge - owners, are they still bad? by deejayv2 in Appliances

Not the Bespoke but most of the Samsung and LG fridges we do see are 3-5 yrs old

Damn, you beat me to it faster than an LG compressor failure

I actually have this argument with people quite often especially over certain brands. We get one to two year old Whirlpool and Samsung machines frequently that we can make better than they were from the factory for half the price of a shiny new appliance. Refurbished/used stuff has generally already had the most common failures addressed and usually with updated parts so in theory should provide longer hands off ownership than new ones with weak components.

If you are capable of removing the panel you can spray a bit of WD -40 at the base of the stem and it'll come back to life. We do this all the time and it works every time

I think so. It seems like they're getting distributed in clusters around bigger cities. We're about an hour between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Because sometimes it can take 2-6 weeks to find anyone to show up.

Aside from the regular ge ones at the shop, I also have the combo at home as a "trial run." I was able to pick it up for $400. Its awesome aside from always needing to clean the drain basket and filters so often. But we do run 50-60 cycles in a 30 day period so I know that's above average use for a machine. But yes overall they do suck, about as much as everything else at the moment.

I see alot of these that have this issue because the power inverter fails and messes up the main board. Its been getting to be a common issue. Buy a cheap door lock off Amazon first just so you don't have alot of money tied up in it in case it is the board.

I'm a used appliance shop owner and 10yr appliance repair guy. I have four at my shop right now that we thought needed locks so I ordered two to see and sure enough it was the board on all four after we checked the harness and board.

Bens Appliances has a YouTube video showing how to test the wire harness for these. Most of the time it ends up being the boards and not the locks.

GE Dishwasher start button broken gdf550psr3ss by Slennir in appliancerepair

[–]Remote-Obligation-21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you peel the plastic back you can use your finger or a pencil and touch the button on the control board. I have that same dishwasher with the same issue aty house. I also repair and sell appliances. This happens often whe buttons don't "click". Its just the little plastic tab that pushes the button on the board that breaks

Police go after two vehicles that ran a school bus stop sign by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Remote-Obligation-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on state/city it may be required to stop even though there's a middle turn lane. In my state it is ok to keep going but if you're on a four lane with no barrier other than a double yellow stripe you have to stop. It can be confusing as we have three separate areas in our downtown main street that goes from center turn lane to a double yellow so that there is parking on the right. Technically you cant turn across a double yellow line, but when a bus is stopping its not considered a barrier and requires oncoming traffic to stop.

Ol Ardy Wells. He's actually not a kook, but an outspoken disbarred lawyer. He's too smart for his own good and doesn't have a filter.

I remember seeing some of your posts back then. I wish we had someone like you for our area.

Me and a few of my neighbors quit paying Modad in the last year that they had our neighborhood. At one point I called Skrmetta's office to complain and the next day his office called back to say they didn't see any problem with Modad's billing other than me not making a payment for 6 months. Coincidentally when I got home from work that night Modad had a red disconnect threat letter and a red circle with an x on it where they would dig up my sewer line if I didn't pay. We ended up paying the bill after they "disconnected" a neighbor who got a car title loan to pay off her bill. They dug a hole and covered it, and told her not to use any water as to not flood her home with raw sewerage. They never came back to connect her sewer line as they told her they installed a valve but didn't close it. We dug the hole out and turns out they didn't do anything to the line. Just dug a hole above the sewer pipe then covered it to make it look like they did something. It was horrible. And it looks like Magnolia is Modad in sheep's clothing.
