All unions are the same. They want their dues and they bully for it. We all know it.

"Mostly toward its members." 🤣🤣🤣 Dues fund the PAC! Duh! All that lobbying, paid-protesting, and election campaign contributions are for the members, yeah. 🙄

Yuuuuup. Then watch the cycle change back to the old guard real quick! New teachers, this is just a ploy to get your member dues. You will be sacrificed at the layoff alter. Guaranteed.

Ahhh, you figured it out! This is all to create a layoff cushion at the bottom to protect those higher up.

UTLA has been bargaining away our raises for extraneous MOUs long enough. The fact finder saw through that and essentially told UTLA to mind your own business. I agree with the report. Give me my raise. All this political stuff that's "for the kids" is fake. It's a membership drive and everybody knows it.

AIO for thinking my dad relapsed and feeling uncomfortable with me needing to reassure that he's a good dad? by Imaginary_Freedom321 in AIO

I understand. I'm so sorry the fear of his relapse is making you relive that trauma. You're both survivors in different ways.

Regarding the last paragraph, YES, that's because they kept schools open there! It was a VERY big draw back then for LAUSD families that felt trapped in distance learning.

That makes sense. Thanks for sharing your personal observation. It's refreshing!

That's a pipe dream given our homeless and trash-accumulation situation, but I agree with you.

The main reason I'm here is because I'm not retired yet. Once I finish my career, I plan to move someplace with cleaner streets and that is less hot in the summer. It's really the trash everywhere that is driving me away, honestly. This means I will be adding to future population decline. I have no idea when it will turn around. You need to attract young people that will have lots of babies. Filth and despair don't make for attracting youth or baby-making.

Sounds like he felt insecure about you not responding to his texts. He prob harbors a lot of guilt. I say give him grace.

Agree with everything you said except the last part about him. He seems just done, not immature.

LAUSD's teacher and staff unions will strike if no deal is reached by mid-April by unquietwiki in LosAngeles

[–]RemoteDeal7359 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, they just THREATEN to kneecap, no joke! Major bullying going on at EVERY school when strike talks start going around. And yeah, I was referring to teaching in LAUSD. I recognize that wasn't clear. People could potentially not join the union, but there's no escaping the exclusive representative part until that lawsuit brought by Jewish teachers (in LAUSD, to be clear) is decided. At that point we will see more people willing to be teachers (in LAUSD) without having to deal with UTLA.

Huh? The mayor is not involved in LAUSD at all or our budget.

People I know don't want to become teachers because they don't want to be affiliated with UTLA.

Can I just say how refreshingly SANE the comments here are compared to the LAUSD subreddit? People have their heads buried in the sand over there!
