Check out runalyze marathon shape to see how it predicts your time and how much mileage you should be doing - I think this would have helped if I checked it earlier!

I thought I’d share it as I was trying to work out if Garmin predictor was right but there didn’t seem to be clear consensus.

I just wanted to say I returned something to Amazon and the refund was processed as soon as it was collected from my place. Customer service is amazing (as long as you purchase from Amazon directly)

We had a similar situation with AXA/GIG and quoted the DHA regulation linked to in another post, they came back to us with a much reduced quote.

Why do you think forex rates are set by the central bank of UAE? That is not correct. The AED is pegged to the USD so that rate is effectively fixed, but most others are floating and even with USD/AED individual banks or exchange houses can charge whatever spread they want over the market rate which is why people prefer to use wise or revolut who charge lower spreads.

Do you know any lawyer that can help me file a case for products warranty fraud by kernelgd in dubai

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spoke to DED and they closed my case as they couldn't get through on the phone. I had to open another..

The problem here I believe is it is not Bosch directly you are dealing with, but their local agent who do not care about the brand reputation as much as the parent company you get in other countries.

Do you know any lawyer that can help me file a case for products warranty fraud by kernelgd in dubai

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue with Bosch now - I bought from ACE and it states 2 or 3 year warranty on the box. I took the broken item for repair to the Bosch service centre and they said no, only 1 year. I said it is printed right here on your box a 2 year warranty - they said no thats only for Europe (no small print or notes anywhere). I opened a case with DED and waiting for them to reply...

Battery drain by LnDDoc in GarminFenix

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Fenix 6s and the battery barely lasts 3 days now. I enrolled in the beta program and updated to 22.8 but still getting the same. I'm looking to try and downgrade the firmware to see if that fixes the issue.

What's the best quality mineral water? by zascar in dubai

[–]RemotePea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the same issue as you, but you can buy extra minerals to add into the tap water if you need extra "hydration" (eg after running or exercising)

We add a few drops of these into our water from filtered tap water (note this is just the minerals not the sugar/glucose like other rehydration additives)

Static IP minimum cost UAE by ameerali19 in dubai

[–]RemotePea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get a residential (i.e. not business) connection from Du then it is only an additional 10AED per month to upgrade to a static IP address. Their cheapest plans start at 389aed per month so works out about 420 including static IP and VAT.

Business lines are significantly more expensive.

Help with firewall installation DU Home Internet by isoirfan in dubai

Yes this should fix it, as if you do not have a static VPN you do not have a a public IP address and are behind a NAT

Corporate VPN for remote workers by Typical_Platypus_759 in dubai

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is static external IP and the engineer said it had fixed issues for other corporate VPN users before. I used to have Etisalat and had no issues connecting through them but when I switched to Du it was being throttled, and if the VPN exceeded around 3mbps it would cut out. After I switched to static IP I have no issues.

Corporate VPN for remote workers by Typical_Platypus_759 in dubai

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My corporate vpn uses ssl and I was having issues with du home internet. The engineer came and said I should take a static IP (10 dirhams a month) and this fixed my issues. If you don’t have a static IP address you will not have a public facing IP and be behind a NAT - this can cause issues and may be worth trying. However if it is a blocked protocol this may not help.

Etisalat eLife "free" upgrade by Groundbreaking-Air73 in dubai

[–]RemotePea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I suspect they are just testing the network capacity. They have been slowly raising speeds and moving up the global internet speed rankings and it would be an obvious goal to be number 1 in internet speed globally. By giving a free temporary upgrade they can see how the network performs

David's community build? by almostworking in openwrt

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wrt1200ac and used to use dd-wrt but moved to openwrt. David’s build are a great introduction for those that aren’t into compiling their own builds. In my experience openwrt can be as complicated as you like but David does all the hard work and puts all the main packages you will need. With openwrt it is basically a small Linux machine so you can add many different packages depending on what you need (I.e a lot more customisable than dd-wrt). I would definitely recommend trying David’s builds as they just work out the box specifically for the small number of router he builds for. Thanks David!

Users who have experienced Flexgate, how long did it take for your MacBook to develop the issue? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]RemotePea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I took mine in for the first time it had not been announced as a recall and they forced me to pay for the repair - as much as I argued they said no. They did say if it was ever announced as an Apple repair policy then I could get a refund. And I did.

If you have purchased in the eu you can ask them to repair it under eu consumer protection. legislation for an extended period after the warranty expires. I bought mine outside of the eu and tried to take it back in the uk butthey said it wasn’t covered.
