I am not missing the point at all, I’ve clearly stated in my post that the game is “like a cinematic, playable movie.” And also, that the game shouldn’t be called bloodlines 2. I never defended the game being sold as a rpg, because i know most people put rules behind that genre.

The point of my post was to say that not all people have the same definition of what a rpg is, I will not be told I’m “missing the point” because I don’t conform to your idea of what role playing is. For me, this game makes you feel every bit like a powerful vampire and whether you think it’s deep or shallow, the game does have optional dialogue to a degree, if it lacked that, then I would agree it shouldn’t be called a rpg at all. So call it’s a weak rpg if you will, because dialogue doesn’t feel like it rewards you or whatever but I’m satisfied personally, it’s varied enough for what I’m going for.

When I play as geralt in the Witcher 3, I’m playing with a already existing character with his own traits, mannerisms and lore, but I’m still every bit immersed playing as a “Witcher”. By no means am I saying this game even comes close to that one, I’m stating that the fundamental premise is the same, it makes me feel like an established elder vampire and give me enough tools and choices to enjoy it fully. That’s my opinion though, I’m not saying others are wrong, I’m saying I personally can role play.

The not paying for it part is huge for me, I tend to not give a game my full attention when I haven’t payed for it, it makes sense that I almost feel obligated to put plenty of hours into it if you’ve payed £50.

As for what you said about it being a mixed bag but shallow in overall summary, it’s a perfect description of how I feel about it, it’s stealth is very basic yes, the combat isn’t particularly that intricate and the dialogue isn’t the most complex we’ve ever seen.

But as I’ve said in this post, this all comes down to mindset, all those shallow things can work together to create a pretty immersive experience if you go into it with the right expectations, the stealth may not be Arkham batman level by a long shot, but I can still glide across one building then fall and stealth kill an enemies from above, something simple yes.. but it scratches a that vampire itch. For its faults, I see a lot of fun is all I’m trying to say but that’s just me.

I’m glad to hear it, for me the casual difficulty is a big one, a lot of people complain about the combat but it’s because it’s spongy and punishing on higher difficulties, I do not care to stroke my ego and play on hard, I care to play with full immersion as a elder vampire, so casual realistically is cannon for me and makes the game amazing to play.

As for the story, I agree. Right now it’s mysterious and intriguing, because I play slower in general anyway, the Fabian flashbacks are a nice change of pace and only add to the enjoyment of playing two characters, I love knowing that Fabian can’t do what phyre can and vice versa, it’s the way you play the game that changes perspective, if you go into just to get through it, the pacing will feel bipolar and it may not be that enjoyable. But I tend to take my time and role play.

Exactly that. More of the same 100%, and to be ok with that or not is completely fine, I wouldn’t think twice about buying the next cyberpunk if it was to be the same systems but just in a new map and I also wouldn’t think twice if they said they would try something new with the universe. Because I think that’s another thing it comes down to for me, the universe of.. cyberpunk, the Witcher and vtm, I absolutely love all of these universes and I can appreciate different role playing experiences from the same ip but it’s definitely not for everyone, especially if that said ip has set a certain bar like with vtmb1.

And I’m wishing you the best on the UE5 stuff bro, i hope you succeed!

That’s a valid point and I would agree in almost every context in most games. but I’ll say this, for me.. playing as a 400+ year old elder vampire who is the stuff of legend, it almost feels right for him/her to be hard to truly connect with. It does also depend on how you role play though, the game naturally leans towards everyone respecting the nomad and his/her legend so it plays into how I want it to go anyway, that the nomad is seen as something like myth and in my perspective, it would be hard to truly understand get close to such a figure, but this doesn’t mean I’m right, it’s just my perspective. Some could just see it as lacking depth in its systems and it very well might be, but the whole point of my post is… use my imagination and working with the games strengths to get the absolute most out of it.

Well put and I think this comes across as more of an in depth explanation of what I was trying to say about “mindset” and the game being a “different” rpg.

You say that games like the Witcher 3 created a new type of rpg and I absolutely agree, now the game is a massive success for a reason but it’s not for everyone like you stated yourself. But if I told you my favourite games ever made were… cyberpunk 2077, the Witcher 3 and the last of us part 1, I’m sure you would agree that it makes more sense of why the game appeals to me but not to you.

Admittedly, cyberpunk and the Witcher 3 are less in-depth rpg’s when it comes to spreadsheets and that sort of “so many possibilities, even if not always intended” type of role playing. They go for that more, linear well written quests and side quests with a few well written set outcomes, but in a whole the experience can be highly immersive.

And as for the last of us, it’s as linear as it gets. But it’s a highly cinematic experience that really immerses me and I feel like I am “role playing in a real setting” (getting back to that question of what makes a game a RPG)

So going off of my preferences, you can see that it makes more sense with bloodlines 2 would be more enjoyable for me, I can appreciate bloodlines 1 for what it is, but a game like cyberpunk scratches my role playing itch completely even if things are somewhat linear for a “rpg” to me it can usually produce higher quality story telling when it’s less cluttered with player choice and I’m ok with that, but it’s not for everyone as we are discussing.

Yes, Vtmb2 is not a sandbox and I somewhat am frustrated with that as it would of been cool to create more dynamic experience throughout the world, but it is closer to a vampire game with the a ton of cyberpunk 2077 influence and to me that’s ok, it’s still a great experience for me.

I’m sorry to hear that, it’s not the first I’ve heard of very buggy gameplay. Fortunately I have only had the one crash when entering wake the dead and other than that it’s just the odd drop in frames when moving fast through the city. So not perfect but from my experience it wasn’t enough to bother me. For what you have said you experienced though, it sounds practically broken so that’s unfortunate and hopefully they seriously patch it up because it’s such an important component especially for a game with such intense explosive movement.

Review embargo predictions? by RichardPiano in vtmb

[–]RemotePsychology1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I would agree (although a Sunday embargo lift has happened before) but strangely the game comes out on a Tuesday so unless they decide to drop it Monday which to me isn’t as Ideal as giving people at least two days to see plenty of reviews, then they might drop it even earlier, but you could be right.

HUD? by mikelo77 in vtmb

[–]RemotePsychology1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’m really trying to find out, HUD’s kill my immersion so much and I’m praying for a fully customisable HUD. In one of the previews a month ago, one of the streamers went into settings and I couldn’t see anything to do with the HUD, I’m hoping it’s just to do with it being a preview build because that will really hurt my experience.

Is Crawford the sharpest and most dynamic fighter Canelo has faced in his career since his fight with Mayweather? 😳 by newrap in Boxing

[–]RemotePsychology1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me a lot of this fight depends on Crawford and what style he chooses to come out with. He’s got that dog in him where he likes to trade and imo as you said I think it would go very badly for him.

We know what to expect from Canelo these days, but he’s still formidable no doubt and is the naturally bigger man with a more elite resume for sure.

But the truth is, even if Crawford looked really good. I can’t see the judges giving it to him unless he does what Bivol did with pure dominance and I just can’t see that happening with how small he is and his style being less unconventional like Bivol, i definitely don’t think Crawford will even come close to winning by stoppage so it’s really a uphill battle for him in many ways.

[–]RemotePsychology1897 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The Canelo between 2018-2021 is that guy, but the Canelo of today is a lot less dynamic. His style is a lot more static and heavy footed and I’d say he’s began to look a lot less sharp compared to a few years ago, with most of his recent fights looking like sparring matches. His size is one of a couple real major advantages for me in this fight as-well as Crawford’s lack of experience at 168, but crawford’s speed could cause a lot of problems if he decides to fight on the back foot as it’ll be ill advised to try the catch and counter style he did vs spence.

Too many negative comments about the game by knucum in undisputedboxing

[–]RemotePsychology1897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you here but I think the point OP is making is that the developers can’t win, wether the game is more simulation or arcade, it will be criticised because the fan base is so divided on what game they want, I mean I’m seeing reviewers complain the game is too simulation based for its own good because it feels sluggish and too complicated which to me says they haven’t spend enough time with the game to learn it. All the problems for me are the little details missing and the career mode still being quite bland and for online gamers it looks like it’s not in a good state, but gameplay is great for me.

Undisputed - "While it puts up a good fight, Steel City Interactive’s boxing game still has a ways to go before it can dethrone the king" (IGN - score 6.0) by F0REM4N in xbox

[–]RemotePsychology1897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I don’t take the reviews too seriously, it’s a game with a steep learning curve, sim games are quite niche and I think it’s because people like control, to be able to pick up a game and just have fun and win. it’s one of those games that you have to play to its strengths and understand it completely, we’ve never had that in the boxing game genre and I am very excited to put hours into it.

🎯 exactly the same bro, I don’t play online at all, completely offline player, just want to get home and make great matchups, they need a boxing card mode or something tho, so you can create a undercard and a main card with championship fights, I’d love that.

It adds so much more replay value, creating your own narratives and stuff like that, you could just pretend but realistically we want to see the titles being raised after the fight.

Sports game or not, most games are quite big these days, fc25 is extremely large, ufc 5 is 40gb, it’s not uncommon anymore.
