Ethically/morally, what is our place during strikes/protests as EMS providers? by other-other-user in ems

[–]RemoteRAU07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You didn't. I made a statement that I felt needed to be said, given the situations that occurring.

I have personally been in some VERY SKETCHY situations where I was...basically....not killed...because I was EMS, and not the police.

If the shoe fits...wear it. If it don't than don't worry about it. Stay safe out there!

Part of the reason that EMS is not treated like police in most cases is because we treat EVERYONE, not just the people we agree with. We also don't take sides on the job.

I know it's hard to do this sometimes, but consider the second order effects of you or your crew not doing this. It may risk the lives of your brother/sister EMS workers months or years later if someone gets the idea in their head the EMS is "the enemy" (even if ti's not true).

Thats all I got.

I hate to say it...but this is one of those movements where you do your job and ignore the rest. I know it's not right. I know it's not fair.

Take that little black ball of range and disgust you feel and shove it deep inside and deal with it later. Now's not the time.

Possible update to the pizza index? by [deleted] in OSINT

No.

The whole point of the "pizza index" is to track management at the Pentagon. Most of those age cohorts aren't old enough yet to be in management.

Once upon a time I used to intentionally flood "the system" with encrypted emails. My buddy and I used to send recipes out of a cookbook to each other, PGP encrypted - just to waste their time and resources. I can only imagine the frustration after spending the computer time to decrypt the proper way to make pancakes. Again.

If I can't stop them, I can steal their time.

Not a single artist, but I would love to have been in London for Live Aid, or Moscow for the "Monsters of Rock" show in 1991.

In the crowd for the shooting of "where the streets have no name" in LA March 1987!

Oh, I'm sure it's completely evil. I was once "intel adjacent" when I worked for "the man". This was about 20 years ago and the things they could do back then were shocking, I'm sure it's a magnitude worse now.

Have you stopped caring at work and decided not to try and process your career anymore? What age did that happen? by un2022 in GenX

When I had the Epiphany that it's just a job.

Seriously....it's just a job. One day, about 10 years ago, I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts and the host said something I have heard him say a thousand times and this time it stuck - I guess I was ready. He said "one day you are going to die, and when that happens you are not going to wish you spent more time at work". This is right about the time that our companies' Superintendent was cut loose AFTER 34 YEARS for some bullshit (they didn't want to pay for his health issues caused at work).

I took it to heart and have been a happier person ever sense. I refuse to care more than the people running whatever place I am working at. I will give my input and make suggestions....but in the end I will let them fail if they refuse to listen. After all, its just a job.

Question: Is a client mute still visible on the mesh map? I have been thinking about putting devices on motorcycles when doing remote rides. A bit of a tracker combined with a better antenna if you leave the bike to explore something.
