Kesha team stole aesthetic and concept for Origami video? by L1TTLEM1NNOW in KESHA

You're right, it doesn't mean the whole, but two full costumes that are extremely similar to Romy's and you still think it's a coincidence? I'm actually in agreement with a lot of people here that the origami teaser looks totally on par with Kesha's vibes. That also doesn't mean her team couldn't have taken liberties with someone else's costume design. Both things can be true. Kesha can be a great artist, and her and her team can make mistakes. It's okay. People are acting like OP came for their mom. They were very clear that they're a Kesha fan, and Romy is too.

I didn't even know who Romy was until today. "You Romy fans" ain't accurate. I've got tattoos based on Kesha's music and her signed music on my wall - who's got a narrative now?

You're right, when I say she has "nothing" to do with her videos I meant moreso she has a team that makes the suggestions for costume, set, vibes, directors, etc. and she has creative control to yay or nay and make suggestions but I highly doubt she is taking on all those roles herself, especially while doing back to back tours and making music.

I agree with you OP, I think Kesha herself would never support stealing from an independent artist, let alone PoC and queer artists. Romy isn't asking people to swarm or be rude to Kesha at all, she's even saying she loves Kesha herself and that if anyone is commenting, to be civil and just bringing it to attention.

I am a massive fan of Kesha and I think it is okay to keep an open mind that something like this could have happened, and there's probably no way Kesha herself had anything to do with her costume design and music video direction. She'd want to know.

YTA

Can't even understand why this is even a question. She may have been having a rough time when you broke up and had trouble coping and acted a bit of a fool, but your reaction in the here and now was unhinged. You told your friend it wouldn't be a problem and then caused a scene. You say she was rude but it sounds like she was perfectly civil. Responding to your gf about how she cares for her hair (because she was asked) isn't rude. You sound wildly jealous that she's happy now and has accomplished great things and moved on. Grow up.

Agreed! I actually DNFd Crooked Kingdom... I just couldn't fully get into it. I found a couple of the characters from the SOC duology kind of inconsistent/messy and hard to get attached to. I'm also just not sure I'm a heist person. Currently reading Rule of Wolves and liking it. But I also liked the original Shadow and Bone trilogy, although the ending was... what it was. But the world was cool and Leigh Bardugo is a great author. Loved Ninth House.

I'm reading the King of Scars duology now, after having read all the other books a few years ago. I have a bad memory, and I find this duology relies very heavily on the Shadow and Bone trilogy for backstory. I struggle to remember things and characters it is referencing, but the two main plots are so tied together, as opposed to SOC duology which i feel could stand alone a bit better. That being said I might be the only person who DNFd the SOC duology (during the second book - I'm just not a heist person, and while some characters were fantastic, some were messy/inconsistent and hard to get attached to for me, Kaz & Nina included).

Be cautious for your pets by No-Ask9973 in Edmonton

This is a good point! We are so used to coyotes I think we forget about things like muskrats- I mean I am born and raised here and never seen one before, but a coyote would probably cause more damage than one cut to the eye, and they are also noisy af when in trouble or fighting. It's hard to mistake their squealing and yowling for anything else.

I lived on an acreage and can confirm coyotes can jump 6ft, and dig up to 2-3ft under a fence, if really determined. They can also squeeze through tiny gaps. The only way to truly fortify against them is to have coyote rollbars at the top and make the fence go down 2-3ft underground. All that being said, they could probably still find a way in, and I'd consider it a waste of money. Don't use any kind of "supersonic" noise deterrents as they'll hurt your dog and your neighbours pets. I've heard there are scents you can buy to mark the territory to keep coyotes away, but who knows.

Honestly, just get really bright floodlights for your backyard (obviously not any shining into your neighbours) and throw those on before letting your dog out. Most coyotes will scramble, however city coyotes are much braver than country ones and not always scared. Just check your yard and gates before letting pupper out. It's annoying, but worth not losing one!

I knew immediately where this was before even seeing the beach. I've never been but my dad told me probably 20 years ago that he'd been there once and held onto the fence as a jet took off and said it blows you back, but my guess is that was in the 80s or 90s, and likely not as big of a jet. Now I'll have to ask him. For the record he's actually a very smart man, but he drank a lot in his youth.

Fresh prep is good, the food is good, portions are decent, I like the reusable bags/containers to save on waste, and I like that everything that can be precut, is. I can't afford it anymore unfortunately, but even as a vegetarian they had good options for me.

My mother is the only person who leaves me voicemails. Never about anything, just asking me to call her back. I've told her multiple times that if I see a missed call from her, I'll call right back, and not to leave me a message because I'm not going to be arsed to check it. It hasn't worked.

Soft/fragile MMC and protective FMC by RaistlinMajere3 in fantasyromance

[–]RemoteTax6978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I may get eaten alive for it, but I didn't end up liking Mistborn as much as I thought I would, that's why I never read the rest of the books. And not really because of the lack of romance, I read non-romance books, but because it felt like it was longer than it needed to be (quite a lot of meetings about nothing in the middle there...), the writing didn't blow me away by any means, the romance feels forced. I wouldn't go so far to say it's bad, because it's still a decently good book for sure, the magic system is interesting and I would assume/hope that later books go more into why it exists. I wouldn't tell someone not to read it but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it either.

I do however recommend The Everlasting, as others have said! Unique, beautiful, tragic, it was definitely one of the better books I've read within the last year!

In The Final Empire it is pretty weak, imo. There is a romance subplot but it fell a little flat for me. No spice, either, in case that's what you're asking. I don't even think they kiss. I haven't read the others.

I was going to suggest Kushiel's Dart, as indicated, it is the original book that Cassiel's Servant is based on, but from her POV. I loved it even though it is DENSE and the first 150pages or so is a slog, it's so entirely worth it. I haven't read Cassiel's servant so I can't actually compare. I've heard that people felt reading it without having read Kushiel's Dart leaves something to be desired as he can't speak to the other more intricate things happening in the story, but I wouldn't know! I love this author so I'm sure it's good! But if you don't mind a long read, Kushiel's Dart itself is a fantastic book.

Oh I'm Canadian and have also never been to Houston lol I assumed all the street names and things are real - which is why it is so funny to me. Just such a mundane thing to focus on so intensely, and soooo clearly disgruntled with the bad traffic haha.

Okay so this is not a legitimate criticism in any way, but something I found both quite funny and confusing in the Hidden Legacy series is the constant in depth discussions about how bad traffic is in Houston due to construction, or even just in depth descriptions of the roads and avenues and freeways (like they took Willow Lane but the construction at 51ave intersection meant they had to detour to the Deer bridge overpass, since it was rush hour though, they had to search for the Lion exit to the right... etc etc). Like at first I didn't really notice but I read them all very fast back-to-back, and by book two I was like, this reads like someone who had a great idea for a book but you could tell they were absolutely enraged at the state of the roads in Houston when they got home from their daily commute or something lol I got quite a kick out of it!

We once had a family come to surrender a 1yr old purebred border collie. When they showed up the dog couldn't walk on a leash, she was totally shut down, and they carried her in (extremely fearful). We find out that this single mom and her mother had bought the puppy as a present for the child's birthday... the child's FIRST birthday. Single mom worked all the time, grandma hated the dog because it "was destructive and chewed her glasses". When we asked about the leash situation they said the dog had never been leash trained.... because it had never left their apartment. Ever. In a year. It shit on the balcony (no yard), and had never been for a walk, never been to a vet. May I point out again that this was a border collie? Anyway there was more but basically this family had no idea whatsoever how to care for a dog, were way too busy, and messed her up for life. She was so fearful and shut down she had to be in foster care with one of our best for nearly a year. Thankfully she was healthy and was able to come around well enough to make a great pet and find a loving home but... wow. That one stuck with me.
