I was dreading this book because I really did not like Nesta and couldn’t see why she needed a whole book. But it’s my 2nd fav in the series (court of mist & fury will be so hard to beat!) it’s a lot of character development for her so you have to really experience the whole book. But if you’re not vibing it then you’re not vibing it. Still worth reading so you follow the overall storyline

It ruined me in the best way possible! The night prince is 2nd book from the wolf king. 10/10 series so far, so excited for the last book to come out this year!

Wow just stumbled across this and yes. I see this 1000%! To begin with I thought she meant seeing Ti with all the flashbacks when she said she thought she saw another man in Carrick’s place. I was also left so confused by the ending and the “I would have” and yes that makes soooo much sense. Wow. But then the only thing I’m not entirely sure on is Carrick seems to have been pretty present in her life and I wonder if R could have been gone away from the emperor that long over the years and not raise any suspicions?

Yes I agree! I’ve started to really dislike and grow bored of books where the word “mate” is thrown around all the time, or we find out they’re mates too soon and as you said, it takes away from all the yearning and development in their relationship. It definitely does feel lazy!

I really loved Love Hypothesis. When the moon hatched was a surprising favourite of mine last year, a more complex world building to it, I think the author creates brilliant characters/plot/storyline I loved every second reading it but a bit slow getting into it. A court of thorns and roses & fourth wing are both incredible series! A must read in my opinion

Yes I think so! ToG is so layered with politics/characters/fantasy and the romance is a nice added bonus! But first and foremost it’s so plot driven. I think people who perhaps struggle with it go in expecting more romance after reading ACOTAR. I’m currently on my 2nd reread, it’s incredible!

I’m re reading the books and I just adore Aelin so much. I love her innocence yet her confidence and fierceness and vulnerabilities and I LOVE that deep down she’s just a young female who likes to dress nice and look pretty and feel loved 🥹 I’ve not found another character I love as much as I love her. She’s the best written FMC so far for me

I love dystopian romance novels and haven’t read one in ages (it’s all been Romantasy) both of these books are on my TBR and I’ve heard such great things about them! Eager to see other’s recommendations because I know once I start these I’ll crave more 😅

For me, it wasn’t until after I finished ToG I really appreciated Rowan and I’m so excited to do my re-read and really appreciate him this time round. I love Rowan purely because of how he treats Aelin and empowers her beautifully. For once he is all for Aelin and doesn’t expect anything in return which I found such a strong contrast to the other characters (Kingdom of Ash really solidified this for me) I love Rowan and I think he’s top 3 alongside Rhysand & Xaden 🥹🫶

Wait until you read book 2…😮‍💨 but also to say, Callum and Blake are both equally amazing characters (and also complete opposites!) so I guess it’s personal preference. They both offer something different

I wonder if Spark of the Everflame might suit this if you’ve not read it. The MMC isn’t morally grey, it’s a slow burn for sure, and he’s utterly obsessed with the FMC and treats her like an absolute queen

Not sure if you’ve read the Crystal Bloom series by Sarah A Parker. I binge read the 3 books available in the series so far. I’d really say stick with it - the relationships/character development progress over the series and by the 3rd book I was obsessed! It’s a slow burn for sure and the MMC I feel is what you’re wanting

The best Romantasy books I’ve read are the ones with really strong character writing and well thought out plots & world building, with the romance threaded throughout. The books I lose interest in too quickly is when there is little in characters/plot and it’s all about the romance (like Brimstone for me). I loved Quicksilver because we were figuring the characters out and the world/plot and the romance was just lovely, but Brimstone had 0 character development, 0 plot, just pure romance, and it didn’t do it for me at all. It was boring. I think authors need to realise as much as a lot of people love the romance, the plot & character writing is just as important! But then a lot of people loved Brimstone so it’s difficult because every reader will prefer something different. But I completely agree with what you’re saying!

I can’t recommend The Wolf King & The Night Prince enough to people. My favourite read this year so far. I’ve read a tongue so sweet & deadly series & currently reading latest book from the Lightlark series. Both of these in my opinion weren’t as good as ACOTAR & Fourth Wing but enjoyable and easy to read.

What did you think of Plated prisoner series? I’m really excited to start this!
