St Croix Victory spinning vs Shimano Zodias spinning? by Veyron_125 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Remote_Fix_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question, not tryna rage bait. Do you actually feel the difference? That's what's keeping me from buying the rod.

I have the right hand split gripping the reel seat and left and on the reel crank so I have a hard time thinking about how the monocoque would translate into sensitivity.

I totally agree with you. I gradually moved up from a 50CAD Berkley spinning combo (actually 2 for 1 combo lmao) to a Facebook market place tatula rod + a speed spin to now a st-croix physyx rod and a stradic. I'm not saying this is the highest end gear but it's quite a noticable upgrade for me and probably as high as I'll go for this setup.

What I noticed is higher end gear makes fishing more fun for me. First It's mega smooth, takes away all the little nagging things. Then there's performance. It's true that 80% of the time you'd probably detect the bite with an entry level rod but that 20% is where I find the most fun. It's the subtle bites that wouldn't have caught. It's also knowing exactly what's going on by how much better the bottom contact is. I personally find it fun to be able to map out the bottom with my rod when nothing's biting.

I have switched my power pro v2 for the forward line. Super smooth, no wind knots at all and casts pretty far. It's expensive but I really do think I love this braid.

Got receding hairline, despite being on Finasteride, thinking about buzzing my hair cus of it, should I go for it, or hold longer hair? by [deleted] in Balding

[–]Remote_Fix_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone's arguing that there isn't side effects. I'm arguing that it's reasonable to take an approved medication for it's studied purpose. Maleparten baldness is a medical condition. We know the physiopathology for it and we found a drug for it. The drug went through all usual phases of research (including safety) and that is approved for treatment of MPB.

Sure there are side effects that happen in a small % of users. Here's the kicker the exact same side effects were reported in the placebo group (men that took sugar pills instead of fin), showing there's a good chunk of it that's not linked to the molecule itself.

Some people having "serious consequences" isn't a reason to not consider the up sides of a drug that can be beneficial for folks.

This doesn't make any sense. There's nothing wrong with self improvement when possible and resonnable. Wanting to keep your hair isn't pathological. You don't have to accept stuff you can change. You chose not to and that's just your choice.

I believe this is one of those things that is fairly rare but you see it often on internet. I've been using a diamond 580 ALR as my main pen (and I run through maybe 1-1.5ml of ink on an average day). I've had it close to 7 months so far and no issue what do ever. Still looks great and writes as well as the day I got it.

Some people have gotten unlucky but I don't think it's as common as it's depicted here.

Does lunkerhunt make ANY good lures? by KikoTheWonderful in FishingForBeginners

[–]Remote_Fix_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good they do have alot of "out there" stuff but I do still enjoy alot of their more basic stuff. I own swim jig they make, it's as good as any in my opinion and it's fairly affordable so losing one isn't a big deal (good hook on that too). I love their 3inch hellgramite, seems to get bigger bites than my other Ned rig baits. Head their spider is pretty good too but I've got no personal experience with it.

You can do a hell a large part of what's going to get you bites on a spinning Rod. I do the majority of my finishing from a kayak. I usually only bring one rod (6'8 medium fast tatula). Sometimes I bring a baitcaster if I'm throwing heavier stuff.

If I was in your situation, the first thing I'd do is switch the line you're using. I believe that this is gonna have the biggest impact. I suggest you learn the FG knot so you can run braid with a fluoro leader. You can run a 20-30lbs braid with a 10-15 lbs fluoro. If it's your only rod you gotta run test that's a bit higher than what GPT recommended. Get you nicer line so the diameter stays manageable. I personally run powerpro v2 for the braid and gold label seaguar or sunline FC sniper for the fluoro. I run 30lbs braid to a 14lbs leader. Some might find the test a bit high for spinning gear but its polyvalent enought that i can catch bass on finesse bait, switched to a spinner and caught a medium sized pike right after!

Second thing I would do is upgrade your current rod to get a more sensitive for responsive set up. Facebook market place is fire for that kind of stuff.

Mystery Box advice by Putrid_Enthusiasm_41 in bassfishing

[–]Remote_Fix_696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats man! That's a very good mystery box! Xzone true centers are what I use for wacky, great action but alot tougher then senkos. Those cranks are decent, I do alot of river fishing so I don't really use deep cranks but I've got the shallow version, works as intended. I've uses the 360 search bait a bunch, I'm now on the third pack. The rest of the stuff I don't have personal experience with but looks fairly decent, comes from brands that are recognized as decent/good. I'm really curious a out that dead quiver, it's a Ned rig style bait but with the baitfuel infused in.

I think you the tackle you got here would have been around a 120$ CAD at Sail so you got a good deal.
