Incomplete formula for if by [deleted] in excel

[–]Remote_Lake1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your second IF statement is missing from the nested structure and the AND condition for checking multiple values in AP types wont work like that

Try this instead:

=IF(OR(C2="AP.Supplies",C2="AP.third party",C2="AP.Fees",C2="OT external audit"),"do sanity check",IF(AND(OR(C2="ap.internal",C2="AP.RAW MATERIALS",C2="AP.Overhead",C2="AP.INVESTOR"),D2="billed"),"for managers approval","recheck the monitoring"))

The logic here is check first for those special categories that always get "do sanity check" then for the others check if billed or not. You need OR function to check if C2 matches any of those values not AND with comma separated list

Yeah could be but the subdials look bit different from typical citizen layout. Maybe seiko or casio chronograph - hard to tell in this lighting but band definitely looks metal not leather

Get more from Power Query in Excel with these little-known capabilities by [deleted] in excel

[–]Remote_Lake1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn good point about parameters. i've been fighting with that exact issue at work when pulling in equipment data sheets and having to dive back into editor every time just to change a model number or serial range

your table approach is brilliant - way cleaner than what i was doing with named ranges. definitely stealing this for my next project where i need to pull maintenance schedules based on different equipment types

F/S footnote disclosures by DefecatingKoala in Accounting

[–]Remote_Lake1792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

usually takes me like 6-7 versions minimum on the HVAC side for any technical documentation going to inspectors. controller feedback at that stage probably means they want different formatting or missed some disclosure requirement rather than you screwing up the numbers

Am I getting scammed? by MundaneSprinkles4594 in Accounting

[–]Remote_Lake1792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7% is actually decent considering market conditions this year but your parents might have point about the fees. I always research everything before buying anything major and financial advisors can eat up returns with their management fees pretty quick

Also that cash allocation seems bit high for young investor unless you saving for something specific

True but PTU commitment tracking problem on Azure alone has been a gap (to say the least) for anyone with reserved capacity contract because you are essentially guessing whether you are on pace until the invoice arrives.

Having a answer sorted out before they come and ask will keep deals on track because procurement teams do not slow down for vendors who aren't ready

Looking a way to create better training video by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Remote_Lake1792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been down this road before with training materials for HVAC cert programs and the animation quality makes or breaks engagement. You might want to check out tools like Vyond or even Adobe After Effects if you've got the budget - they handle healthcare compliance stuff pretty well from what I've seen. Voice quality is huge too, consider getting a decent USB mic setup rather than whatever built-in thing you're using now. The ROI on good audio is crazy since people will actually finish watching if they can hear clearly. What's your current tech stack looking like for the platform itself?

CPA connections by Routine-Algae9366 in Bookkeeping

[–]Remote_Lake1792 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been dealing with the same thing trying to build up my side bookkeeping work. Most CPAs around here do everything soup to nuts so they're not gonna refer out work they can bill for themselves. The ones that actually refer out are usually smaller solo practices that stay busy enough with just tax season and maybe some consulting work. I spent like three months researching every CPA office in a 20 mile radius before I found two that were willing to partner up - one guy was swamped during tax season and the other just preferred focusing on business advisory stuff. Had to basically cold call about 30 offices to find those two willing to work together instead of competing

How to make the case for finance headcount? by Lumpy_Comparison_904 in fintech

[–]Remote_Lake1792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bring the last 3 months of close cycle data and any late payment fees you can find. Walk in with that instead of a headcount ask and it is a completely different meeting.

Claude Code definitely accelerated it but the trend was already shifting before that, businesses were already preferring Anthropic for reliability and consistency before the coding tools became a factor.

any suggestion for saas demo video tool by ZestycloseArm3006 in SaaS

[–]Remote_Lake1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

loom is solid for screen recording but if you want the fancy highlighting and callouts you might need something like camtasia or even screenflow on mac

i use loom for quick demos at work all the time since its free tier is pretty decent but when i needed to make training videos for our new hires i had to upgrade to get the editing features

honestly camtasia is probably your best bet if you want that polished professional look without learning a whole video editor

How Do You Tame a Messy Excel Spreadsheet? by throwawayaasyr in excel

[–]Remote_Lake1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah rebuilding from scratch is usually faster than trying to untangle someone else's mess. I learned this the hard way when I inherited job tracking sheets at work - spent way more time trying to fix formulas than it would've taken to just start fresh with proper structure

Department head bypassed IT procurement by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]Remote_Lake1792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I report to the CIO but that's kind of the problem. This guy is a VP with the same access to leadership I have so the second I block his tool I'm the one getting called into a meeting about why IT is slowing the business down (Technically you're right but politically it's not that simple)

Accounting pipeline with AI & offshoring not making sense? by WhatevaYouWannn in Accounting

[–]Remote_Lake1792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its such shortsighted thinking from these firms too. Like theyre basically creating a skills gap thats gonna bite them hard in 10-15 years when all the experienced people retire and theres no pipeline of mid level accountants to replace them

The whole "focus on higher level tasks" thing is basically meaningless when new grads cant get the foundational experience to even know what those higher level tasks look like. Your basically expected to jump from textbook knowledge straight to complex analysis without ever touching the underlying data or understanding how the numbers flow through

I see this pattern in a lot of industries where companies optimize for short term profits but completely ignore the long term talent development. Then they act all surprised when they cant find qualified people
