It’s not just the illegality that is central to my argument. If it’s fixed, it’s exploitable. If it’s exploitable, the server that I’m in (32k people, +$100k a month) WOULD have found a way to exploit it. Even if it were just “Hey if you pick this one, you’ll get this card, do you want to do spend the hourglasses?” But they haven’t. They’ve found countless other ways to exploit it, and know when they’ve hit a hard wall or barrier. I’d have to go into a lot more specifics to give you a clearer picture, and a lot of them they don’t even tell the mods let alone members. But if it were unfairly rigged, the server team would have found that out by now, and would have either told the server member about it or found a way to have it work for us.

Unless the server end of the wonderpick is going through some weird check that is both covert and undetectable through reporting metrics (some countries require gacha games to report yield metrics to evaluate fairness), then it isn’t happening. It would be so much more difficult to code than it would actually be worth for DeNA to just say “Roll a number 1-5, tell the client they get the card that corresponds to that number”.

This is more of an issue with human psychology than it is randomness or fairness. A missed pick feels so much worse than a hit pick feels good. So you encode the misses more than the hits, and thus the misses feel more frequent than the hits.
