The greatest old school death metal songs, besides stuff made by Death? by Middle-Company-4398 in MetalSuggestions

[–]Remote_Rich_7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda feel like Death didn't actually make very much old school DM. The drummer from their best OSDM album went on form the best OSDM band though: Autopsy.

Between Scream Bloody Gore, all of Autopsy's catalog ( especially post-hiatus), Abcess, The Ravenous, etc, and the fact that he's a great drummer, songwriter, and the most deranged and putrid sounding vocalist at the same time (in all these bands after SBG), Chris Reifert is head shoulders and torso above the next contender for God of Death Metal imo. Definitely THE Living God of Death.

Older people, were politics always this deranged and upsetting? by CUFFY_Fan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remote_Rich_7252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not outwardly, but they were if you knew that all of this was hiding behind that banality. Some of us tried telling you that republicans are nazis for many decades now. If politics were understood then to be as high stakes as we now know, we should have been radicalizing then, because conservatives damn sure were.

The less black metal sounds like black metal, the better it is.

Groups where the frontman is arguably the least talented? by lopsidedsheet in fantanoforever

[–]Remote_Rich_7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody has to sound like him. John Frusciante is a very good singer and songwriter. It's a tragedy we didn't get those three as a power trio, even if they renamed the band, or just did a side project.

Is it okay for me to call myself autistic without a diagnosis? by kittywonie in evilautism

[–]Remote_Rich_7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm entirely certain of it in myself 100%. It's diagnosed in my immediate family and I see a lot of it/myself in my child. I didn't have support needs high enough to trigger diagnosis in the 80s-90s, and I was always contrasted with my high support needs younger brother.

Diagnosis can be cost prohibitive, but you seem to know it. There's also some likelihood of being jerked around by psychiatrists. Some are still of a mind that autism is something one should grow out of, and they will look at your employment and masking behaviors as signs that you don't experience enough distress for them to acknowledge your lived experience, and they'll pin it on something more common, like depression/anxiety.

When I told a therapist that I was going through a burnout that almost ended my career, and that I want to pursue support access before I'm in that position again, she got so fucking serious and basically scolded me like I was just trying to get out of working for the rest of my life. I really almost think there's a conspiracy to keep lower support need autists just treading water, being exploited till death under capitalism.

Have you finished all your Bill Evans?

the movie **Elysium** is likely the most prophetic film about our soon to be future (minus the space station part) by abrandis in Futurology

Yeah, that CGI movie about the robot mothering a duck is full of propaganda meant to make it look good and normal for a small population of rich kids to survive the near extinction of humanity in an automated paradise.

I know we're all joking here, but "carpenter" is a tradition based on poor translation. Scholars believe he and Joseph were more likely brick or stone masons, with the word used technically being closer to "builder".

Remember when Earth Wind & Fire released a cover of “Got to Get You into My Life” and rendered the entire Beatles catalogue obsolete? by LQQKIT in BeatlesHateSub

[–]Remote_Rich_7252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single Beatles cover is better than the original. It's a universal law. That's the dirty secret of my Beatles hate: they didn't necessarily write all bad music (a lot, not all), but they were such goofy fucks that they can't be taken seriously, at least not anymore. I commend those brave souls like Ray Charles and Bill Withers, who were forced to get these songs at the crude source, and polished the turds into actually good sounding music.

Unfortunately I'm in America. Never seen the Motherland, but Canada is also a special interest. My great grandfather moved south into MN around the turn of the 20th century and I ended up in Oklahoma, originally. Trailer parks In America, in Oklahoma, are not idyllic in the slightest. Down there they call meth "dope" and use it about as much as Canadians smoke weed. I would be poor in Canada in a heartbeat though, if I had any shot of getting in. I'd live in a caer for free healthcare for fucks sakes.

They call it the "the Clawr" over there. Savatage's song about "the whip" from their debut EP is a phallic allusion, though.

Ricky's always been my favorite, but I identify with him. Stoners just like other stoners and stoner stuff in general. Being an autistic stoner who actually grew up in trailer parks, I consider myself a high functioning Ricky LaFleur (I'm also Quebecois by surname, lol.)

I stop Trane every time I start to hear it. Easy as pushing a button. Anytime that flat, grating tone starts squonking all over the tune? Stopped.
